I read somewhere that before the yo-yo had ever been considered a toy, it all started with ancient people hunting: they threw rocks at animals to knock them out, but if a hunter missed the animal, the rock was gone, but the angered animal was still there... 😱 (Yeah, you guessed it: "Run, hunter, run, hunter, run, run, run...")
Then, one day, someone had an idea to tie a vine to his rock; so, then there was a quick way to get the rocks back, if they missed their targets. With that, of course, came an idea of slinging rocks at the wild animals, or raiders, even, and finally, with the invention of yarn, that weapon was transformed into a toy we all know and love so much! 😀👍👍

It was documented being used in the Philippines in the 1600s. Earlier dated record were found in China and then Greece and India. A Filipino toy maker started a company in early 1900s. Then thd company was bought by a white business man in California
