@@lizzyemo7095 Hi there you probably did tell someone by the time you read this..I am a mum and my daughter is 14 and I am so pleased she told me about her self harm, mum's really need to know. I have always been there for my daughter and most mum's would be supportive and want to help in any way to stop their child suffering. The love for your child is so unconditional and I know as a mum that nothing can compare to the love I have for my children...x

Maybe not a video on how to hide self harm but a video on how to reduce the appearance of scarring e.g. make up or bio oil. Because hiding self harm should only be encouraged if that person is in an unsafe situation. Hiding scars however is sometimes needed in job settings, or like you said in front of kids xx

Anyone advice on scar cream and oil..my 14 year old daughter self harms and is sucidal.
What advice as a parent would you give me to help her please xx

    • @eeedeee6667
      @eeedeee6667 Před 4 lety +1

Lianne Mcclean bio oil is really good to reduce scarring. Really sorry you’re going through that it must be heartbreaking as a parent. Make sure she knows that scars are for life and she will regret them in the future. If she is self harming it means she doesn’t know how to cope with her emotions, so maybe teach her about how to process the emotion in a healthier way. And also don’t be angry with her, this will stop her from telling you. Instead tell her that whenever she feels she wants to do it, that she can talk to you instead. Hope this helps xx

Throughout the whole video I just wanted to give you a hug😩! On some on the subjects you were talking about I could hear the pain in your voice 😩and how passionate you are towards trying to help other people. Which you 100% are because you’ve helped me in more ways than you’ll ever know. You should also never feel guilty for not posting etc. You need to care for yourself before helping others as much as we loveeeee to see your videos we love to see that your okay and taking care of yourself first. Do not feel guilty for being you! We love you for being you! You explain everything so well and I felt so connected with you. I never thought it was possible to feel so emotionally connected and be able to relate to someone so much through a video. + I’m also gunna give headspace another go,my first reaction to mindfulness was exactly the same as yours😂🖕🏼 it if it works for you imma give it another chance- headspace should defiantly have sponsored this video 😂 Love you Marie🌹Keep going keep being you xx

Your videos mean so much to me. On that dissociation topic. I have been struggling with dissociation/derealisation/depersonalisation for a couple of years and I have been learning grounding techniques but they started to make the dissociation worse? Love this ❤️ i’d like to see a video on how to hide self harm purely on the basis that i haven’t come out of long sleeves for years and would like other methods to ‘hide’ it instead of having to constantly wear the same thing and long sleeves. i’m going on holiday to Florida in April with family so fully aware that it’s going to be very warm and there’s little way i can wear long sleeves in such warm conditions. thank you ❤️❤️

If you haven’t helped me throughout my battle I think that I’d probably be you know.Dead. But thankfully my depression and anxiety and suicidal thought are getting a bit better! I still today deal with all the mental illnesses listed above, but with your positivity I can get through my day smiling! So I would just like to thank you so much for being here for me. Hey! Im wondering if youre able to do a video on how to feel comfortable wearing short sleeves, and shorts in public. Im currently trying to get some confidence to do so but its really hard. I feel like my parents might not want me to show scars in public around them. And im embarrassed to even show any in my own house/room. Its so hard. I havent really worn any summer clothes for 4 years outside of my room because im scared. Im not sure what kind of video im trying to ask for. Things like: how to react to bad comments about your scars in public/in general, what to do when you see someone staring, how to feel confident, also this is weird but if i have scars that are pink/purple/red... do i have to avoid wearing certain colors?
Or even if someone could reply to this giving me answers then that works too! Thank you if you read/ reply to this❤️

i remember you saying previously that you didn't think you had bpd because you didn't relate to others that had it, but there are a number of subtypes of the disorder (yay) and i know especially for me I'm a very quiet borderline and definitely don't seem to outwardly show or relate to all the (usually heavily stigmatised) stereotypes or impulsive of the illness.. don't really know where i was going with this lmao but love seeing you pop up in my subscription box, finding your channel in 2018 was honestly one of the best things of the year, love you lots and keep strong girl xxx

what you said about an addiction to negative thoughts was really interesting. I have a problem with intrusive thoughts (I have OCD) and noticing them is the most important thing. Instead of getting worked up over them you kind of have to take a step back and realise that you're falling into thought patterns and that it's just that - a thought

@@marieroseeee yeah, thank you so much, it's a really isolating thing to go through and you get worried you will run out of air. Your videos help me and I really appreciate that. I am speaking to people (mostly teachers) and it's hard but I know it's worth it. Quick question, are you getting through Instagram DMs? (I understand if not because you said its difficult in a previous video xx)

Would you be able to offer advice on the telling parents thing? Personally, I've recently been diagnosed with a personality disorder at university and with starting meds, self harm etc. I think it's really important they are made aware before I come home for the summer, but i'm finding it almost impossible to tell them. I've written a letter to give them but actually building the courage to do so feels impossible. Also, loved the video and your advice is always golden. Hope you're well

Maybe do the “how to hide self harm scars” targeted exclusively on *healed* scars and not show anyways of covering newish scars/healing wounds bc as you mentioned, it risks enabling people to self harm as it gives them a way to hide it and not ‘get caught’ so they can keep doing it. But you’re smart and mindful so you know all this x

I never would have thought I would need to see a psychiatrist when I’m older. This seemed so far away. I always saw this in tv as a child and didn’t know so many people need to talk to someone. Now I’m in therapy because of my anxiety. My life changed so much, and I didn’t even noticed. I’m so different than I used to be as a child.

I would like to see a video on hiding self harm, more so scars! Some days I just don’t feel like having them out on display but it’s summer here in Australia and it’s waaaaaay to hot to wear long sleeves and jeans all the time 😫

Ughh i love this girl ❤️ also can someone please explain to me what mindfulness is? I have heard it a few times and im just not really sure what it is

Becca Donkin basically it’s just being aware of stuff you do like thinking about them while you’re doing them. For example taking a shower and thinking to yourself whether the water feels good against your body? It’s just an example or eating and actually thinking about what you’re eating. Maybe thinking about your day. You can even do this more by meditating

Is the mindfulness course you're talking about the one run by Mind the charity? If it is I did exactly the same thing, I went for two sessions and then never showed up again. To be honest I was really upset about the course because they made us get into pairs in the first session and I really did not appreciate that and thought it was bad of them to make us do that straight away if at all! Anyway, I really appreciate your videos and wish that I was as confident as you to speak about my own mental health struggles
