CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Val (Kevin Bacon) and Earl (Fred Ward) discover the town drunk straddling an electrical tower.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Tremors is actually two movies in one. On its own terms, it's an enjoyable modern sci-fi horror-thriller, with good pacing and a sense of humor; but it's also a loving tribute to such 1950s low-budget desert-based sci-fi-horror films like Them!, It Came From Outer Space, Tarantula, and The Monolith Monsters. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward are the stars, a pair of small-town handymen living in a small desert community, who stumble upon several difficult-to-explain phenomena, including a couple of people who've died under extremely strange (and, in one instance, very grisly) circumstances. Eventually, they and a handful of their neighbors find the cause: gigantic prehistoric worm-like creatures that streak under the desert the way fish swim through oceans, reaching up and grabbing anything they need for food. Cut off from the outside world, they have to figure out how to get across the desert alive while these creatures -- that are smart as well as fast -- close in on them, stalking them like monster sharks. The film benefits from the presence of special effects that are good enough to pull this all off, keeping the shock value high, and also from a subtly humorous script and performances to match by the entire cast, and director Ron Underwood's breezy pacing of the whole picture.

Gotta love monster movies that start things off with an unexplainable death.
sonrouge they explained how he died though...
Saber Is A Wulf Yea but we don't know what scared him so bad that he grabbed his rifle and stayed at the top of the tower until he died of thirst.
Actually we do. It was the graboids that chased him up there and waited for him to come down. In a later scene when the two men and one woman are on the rocks, the graboids camp around them and they make a comment that that's why Edgar never got down from the tower.
DawnRansome they're talking about before you know anything about the monsters numb nuts
I love this movie
Edgar's death is actually pretty depressing when you think about it. I live in the desert, so slowly dying of thirst over the course of four days is one way nobody would ever want to go out!
If he was a boozer then he probably only lasted one or two. Still horrible but definitely better to be old and out of shape for this sort of death.
Yeah this part scared me the most when I was little haha
I’d take this death anyday over being swallowed whole by a Graboid
It's just so weird how nobody ever noticed before.
Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward were the perfect couple in this movie. So freakin' likeable. And I just love how they do rock/scissior/paper everytime they have to decide something.
those were good old days.
Pretty much the perfect bromance like Marcus and Dom from gears 👌
I really hate Kevin bacon
Where are you from that they say rock scissors paper in that order?
@Thomas Drish I was honestly just wondering….It reminded me of when I lived in MN for some time and everyone there said “Duck Duck Grey Duck” and “Pop” (soda). So I was curious. Pal.
This is one of those movies that you'll never ever get bored from watching.
you are so right 😄
i never get bored of the hobbit.
Batesmotel1960 hey not all of it is.
kiivi I agree 100% this even scared me when I was a kid I didnt want to freaking step on dirt haha
kiivi haunt haunt haunt haunt!
RIP Fred Ward (December 30, 1942 - May 8, 2022), aged 79
You will always be remembered as a legend.
Nothing but respect for those that work around electricity.
I wish that tremors was like jaws more horror than comedy
I remember renting this from Blockbuster when I was a kid
E Boogie one of the best mistakes but also greatest at the same time you ever made.
When I was a kid I was terrified of the scene where the guy was under the hat in the garden, his head, I had nightmares from that. But now I'm 26 and its been one of my favorite movies for the last decade.
I remember watching it at my Grandpa's house and my brother got scared watching it
My mom rented it from hastings before it sadly closed in 2015 or 2017
We all do E Boogie... We all do.
Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon had great chemistry in their scenes together !!
I’d imagine that the Graboid likely gave up after day 2 or 3 and took off (probably following something else making some noise) but since they are underground and Edgar was so high up on the tower he would never be able to tell it was gone
Well could've shot on the ground with his rifle and see if anything came sticking out of the sand like those snake tongues
Probably, however as we see later they can even feel vibrations through the foundations of a building, so it could have circled back.
Probably left just after 2 but at that stage Edgar was too weak to move.
If you look closely at 1:25 you can see Edgar tied himself to the metal with his belt. Nice detail.
PressA2Die Nice catch!
Never noticed it watching the movie but noticed it in the clip just now. Good catch there fella.
Good thing he did. If he had pitched over the side when he died then the graboid that chased him up there would have eaten his body and nobody would have known what had happened to him. They wouldn't have known that something was very wrong and noticed that Fred's flock was gone. And then they wouldn't have found out about him and his sheep either. Val and Earl would have driven past his farm some time before Fred even got killed.
Back when movies cared about Detail
@no use for a name you are both really perceptive, and have a good memory
Jaws and Tremors are THE movies I'll never skip past when I happen upon them.
A classic.
Nathan Tarantla You know it's a classic when never get tired of watching it.
Indeed
The original Tremors movie is defiantly the best. Two was okay, three was okay as well, and four was pretty good.
7 suck
Yeah, I don't think anyone would argue against the first movie being the best one. The sequels weren't bad, though. I've seen up to Tremors 4: The Legend Begins. Tremors 2 was really good and almost on part with the original. I think it's the best of the sequels so far with all the ones I've seen. 3 and 4 were okay/pretty good. It's rare that a movie series with a bunch of direct-to-video sequels maintains a decent quality of films. Usually, they take a massive nosedive with each subsequent entry.
Bloodlines is awesome.
He just sat up there and died of thirst? Now a days you could have ordered water from Amazon and a drone would deliver it. Rip Edgar
Kruppt808 if you get reception and if you have money to spend then yes maybe
And he could have ordered pizza via iPhone and a drone could deliver it.
Doubt they would have any decent mobile service. A little hamlet in the valley in the middle of the Nevada desert isn't the same as down town LA you know. Plenty of rural places with little to no cell service in the world.
this movie was from the 90s , before the 2000s the only people that had cell phones were ceos with huge brick phones and or dedicated car cell phones .. people got by just fine without one and fyi i doubt any cellphone would work out there in the middle of nowhere anyway
i am pretty sure he died from suspense
This is the perfect horror and comedy movie XD
Totally Agree That's why was very well rated Great Classic
I never liked the fifth movie onwards because they are way to much comedy than horror
Tremors is basically jaws but on land
That's why it was not originally called Tremors.. there original name for the movie was Land Sharks!
I fear them when i was a kid i though worms grew up like this lmao. My parents got me 😂
Looking for a good monster movie? Temors is one of the best :D
It's a must watch!
One of the old, funniest horror movies ever, you can deny that 😂
Graboids are the perfect patient predators and because of that poor Edgar didn't get down from that damn Tower😥
Not to mention huge appetites, most Predators will stop hunting after they catch a meal
Love this movie! Scared the hell outta me as a kid seeing Edgar dead up on that pole and the head in the ground. But still love it. Classic. 👌🏼
LOL definitely scary as a kid! But as an adult the parts where the guy's Die is actually kinda funny LOL the old guy's Head was just left after they Eat him 😳 LOL it's actually kinda funny wouldn't you agree?
This is one of my favorite movies
Señor Gojira Same
I love this movie so much
It gets better with age.
"Thank you Edgar...you owe me on this one, ya damned ol' booze-hound."
Definitely one of the greatest 'dynamic duos' in entertainment history. Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon.
I thought they had THE coolest truck when I was a kid. Love that thing!
RIP Fred Ward. This is my favorite movie with him, but I also loved him in Remo Williams and Southern Comfort.
Old Edgar was the last remaining soldier of the confederacy
Santa crashed into a tower and his reindeer left him
Must have been drinking
"You mean to tell me someone ain't scared of a winchester rifle?"
I could watch a movie all about Val and Earl without the graboids because they're such a likable duo.😂
We lost an opportunity to see Jon Bernthal play Fred Ward’s son in a movie. RIP - Resurrect in Paradise, Fred.
I like this movie it's one of my favorites!!!
1:48 Well it’s a lot quicker when you are in the middle of the desert
If Edgar sat up there 3-4 days, wouldn't have somebody noticed he was missing earlier? 😕
He was a lonely old man.
I think he was reported missing, but no one took it too seriously because it had only been a few days and they assumed he went on some drunk joyride.
Wouldn't anyone see him sitting up there for 3 or 4 days?
@@c.d.rstudios4691 - I figure it was easy for people to not notice since the town has a population of only 14 people and is so geographically isolated.
@@shadowdramon01 i mean, the people
who live in the village
The deleted scenes in the DVD collection made it sadder: Edgar and Old Fred were friends, to the point where the latter didn't mind giving carrots to Edgar's mule Justine - to whom Edgar was shown to treat nicely. Later that afternoon, Edgar brought Justine to the barn but the moment he was away for a few minutes the graboids attacked. Naturally he runs in calling for his mule only to find a giant hole, he clings to his Winchester rifle fearfully, looking left and right before running off... and that's when the movie starts.
Just a couple of old rural men, living innocently and hard working, just to get killed by graboids.
There is no such thing as innocent.
This is the scene when they get scared because they don’t know why he died on the Pole of thirst.
Good setup for the rest of the movie as they slow put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Good movie 🍿 !
I like how it’s a mystery at first as to the first death. It’s like a warning of things to come. They both get alarmed and realize something is going on and it’s deadly.
RIP Fred Ward 🙏
The dude just sat up on a tower and died of thirst😂😂
I miss watching good movies like this! Love them! 😄👏
I remember going with my dad and bro and renting this from a mom and pop rental place in 1990 ish. Good times with a VHS. Be kind, please rewind!!
Bacon at his best.
One of my favorite childhood movies. You can watch it again and again on a chill afternoon and never get bored
I wish they kept Val in the series
RIP Fred Ward, rewatching the Tremors movies later tonight 🍻
This is one of the best scifi movies from the 1980s . it doesnt make the classic mistake of making its 'simple folk' characters into idiots
I seriously feel bad for those people who never watched these movie
some people get turned off by 80's movies , but at least this one is not saturated with 80s pop culture references. its kind of timeless
Thank You Edgar!
The BEST 'A' movie ever made to feel like a 'B' movie by not taking itself too seriously. This never gets old watching. Valentine and Earl along with all of the eccentric townsfolk of 'Perfection' made the movie.
Tremors 1, the one and only tremors movie that is good! this one is a masterpiece! the rest just goes downhill sadly
The fourth movie was a prequel and it was good because they went back to just the grabboid
Tremors 2 isnt that bad its after the 3rd one that I skip.
I thought for a while that there’s high expectations for movies now a days. CGI, story, acting, and cast. Can’t beat movies made like this. Every company is trying to create the next big thing but the old movies that have stood the test of time are just there waiting to be rewatched.
I LOVE their truck!!!
Is it me, or does that store in the movie have everything?
Man Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward played great roles in this movie. May they be awesome. Your the best Kevin 😉😉😉
The movie sold less than 2 million tickets in 1990, so more people have watched this clip than saw it in the theater. And the next clip has 12 times as many views as this one.
later on in this movie you find out why Edger never got down from that damn tower.
Well, no sh*t, Sherlock!
I would have died up there to if i knew one of those things were down there
This movie was weird for me when I was a kid. My dad would watch whichever movie he wanted and I saw this with him when I was like 7
Must be a dad thing, because that's exactly how I first saw this movie, around the same age. I thought it was terrifying and refused to walk on dirt or sand for months afterwards. My mom was furious.
I saw this scene as a kid it absolutely traumatized me lol
This movie is so good
if Edger survived he would've warned everyone about the Graboid. R.I.P. Edger
At least he died with nice view up there instead of in his house on the bed.
Why is this an underrated movie it’s good
A high school teammate of mine directed this classic! Way to go Ron!
Grandpa showed it to me and my brothers when we were in middle school it was awesome 😎
EDGAR GET YOUR BUTT DOWN FROM THERE!
The Official HelloKittyPowa you don't understand: EDGAR IS THE ONE IN THE HOLE!
The Official HelloKittyPowa NO!
Read this as soon as he said it
Edgar, your skin is hanging off your bones...
He sat up there for three to four days and nobody else ever came by before Val and Earl? Talk about an isolated community. No wonder it was the perfect target for the worms.
"That's Edgar Deams!"
"He only wears that one damn jacket!"
"That's him, I'm tellin ya!"
I love Val 🤣🤣
Hey guys, this movie so good !
Can’t believe these 2 are 13 years apart
Thank you Edgar
Me and my brother used to watch this movie each and every time they aired it on TV, it's just that good.
i remember watching the tremor movies with my dad when i was a kid. great memories, seems like i have to binge a few movies now!
That man of all people could've certainly used some Gatorade.
Great movie
Honestly this is one of the best creepy deaths in cinema ever in my opinion.
This is my favorite horror movie/series
Somebody should build a Tremors monster truck! Puts the fans in the upper level seats!
One of my favorite classic movie, always watching it once in a while
I'm gonna miss Fred Ward he died today :(
Great movie use to rent it at the video store in jersey when i was 6 years
One of the best Horror Movies
I can’t help but wonder if Kevin Sausage had any idea how many would just love this movie forever when making it
Kevin Sausage? Don't you mean Bacon?
@@minakoaino7043 Are you serious?!?! OMG, I feel like an idiot.. my bad yes, Kevin Bacon NOT Kevin Sausage.. I can only hope this is a common mistake but fear I’m wrong..
@@meowmeow5052 it's fine everyone makes mistake and I was just confused lol
@@meowmeow5052 ok I laughed kinda hard
@@thelowestoflow5486 That’s good, because it’s very funny. Not many people get sarcastic humor these days… I mean.. KEVIN SAUSAGE!?! C’mon..
Kevin Bacon is awesome
For some reason the old mans face has this weird "post nut clarity" vibe.
RIP Fred ward
He's gone to the Bixby in the sky
Remember watching this movie at a friends house back in 91/92 on a saturday....mid movie his aunt comes...cant remember what happened but a huge fight happened between my friend ,his aunt and his mom......remember leaving their house..heading to hastings in boise, idaho...renting the movie, invited my best friends....ordered pizza, burgers and spending one of the best days ...ill never forget this day.... always enjoyed this movie because of the scenaries ...the wilderness...the open area
As A kid I was handed this on a VHS by a friend at school.
did you give him it back?
RIP Fred Ward
This is comedy and pretty scary to watch as a kid some bits made me laugh while other bits traumatise me lol
90s eh
Poor Edgar had a HORRIBLE year. Moves west after getting his house blown up in Road House just to get eaten by Graboids a few months later.
4 days died of thirst
And there's 4 worms
Press F to pay respects to Edgar
Miss this movie,
Kevin Bacon was cute af in this movie.
Love this movie
this is the best movie ever I love it I own it on dvd I can't tell you how many times I've watched it lol
I loved this movie as child in the early to mid-1990s, it used to be on either channel WGN or channel USA constantly. So I would watch all the time when it appeared. The special effects makeup and puppetry are excellent! I will watch this movie again soon, I have not seen it in several years. Date Stamp: 23june21
