Before I start cooking, I get a nice hot soapy sink of water ready, and I wash dishes as I dirty them. When food is cooking, I wash down the fridge or the front of the stove, sharpen my knives. I lay foil on the bottom of my oven, been doing that for years. My kitchen is pretty immaculate lol. My philosophy is to see a mess, clean a mess. I can't sit and relax unless I know my house is clean.
Also clean up as you cook
I clean and organize daily. It's the only way I can also relax. My kids think it's crazy.
I try to do this, too. I need to do better!
Thanks, Crystal!
This is so smart.
I used to be like that til I had 2 kids one after the other!!! Now I'm always in panic mode cuz I can't catch up on cleaning 😖😣😩😫🥺🥵
My high school boyfriends parents owned a hotel , I learned the best tip - Let the products have Time to Work, I spray my main bath down then go spray our master bath then go back to first room and clean and the products have time to do there job .
Agreed. The solution I use for the tub I accidentally ran into on Facebook and it’s just vinegar & dawn dish soap mixed with water. Leave it for an hour and wipe/wash.
We live in a rental and I had scrubbed & scrubbed but this just took it all away no effort. 😊
Great tip and I would add to use a second cloth to fully dry the surface.
That's what I do with dishes. They soak for awhile so I don't have to scrub as much. 😉
@@janeschmidt9611 a hack, instead of using nasty spnge use dish scrubber. It's 1 dollar and doesn't need elbow grease and lasts months
I worked as a house keeper years ago at The Thomas Edison Inn and I approve this message. I have always done the same thing in my homes and it’s an important tip that actually saves money on cleaning supplies.
I am a cleaning professional and when it comes to cleaning my own house I schedule it in -- and not only that -- I pay myself!
Lol that’s awesome
Great idea!
Empowered!
I pay myself in Costa coffee haha
Same 🙌🏼
The best tip to a cleaner home is to declutter. Get rid of anything you can. It will decrease your anxiety so much. Less stuff means less cleaning or tidying.
That is helpful but also even if you put away your small amount of stuff every time, you still get dirt and grime everywhere.
I declutter frequently as I'm cleaning for that exact reason 😁 there gets a point in time for an item when I'm like "how many times have I moved this around/said I'll fix it" compared to "how many times have I ACTUALLY used this"
So true!
300 thumbs up learning this the hard way.
Declutter is Less stuff to worry about. Thank you for sharing!
The fact you have 2 little kids, other responsibilities, and I don't even know what else, amazes me. As someone who is a bit disabled, I can't even take out my garbage myself, and I live alone. Plus depression, procrastination equals a bad situation. It gets too overwhelming and then I can't do a thing (it feels). It's hard to not get out of control. One step at a time. Xoxoxoxx Thank you.
My mom cleans houses for a living and her condo always looks spotless compared to mine 🙃 the pros really are brilliant at what they do (her biggest tips are wipe down frequently used surfaces every day, sweep every day, vinegar is magic, and own a nice vacuum cleaner)
I bought a rebuilt Electrolux because I have yet to find a new vacuum that works.
Thank you, dear!
I love vacuum cleaners. I’d like to find the right one someday but I can’t just pay $100-$300 all the time plus we live in a small place so nowhere to store them right now.
@@rms5993 In 1950 I asked my mother to buy an Electrolux vacuun cleaner and it made a big difference by making our apartment dust free so no allergies and then were allowed to play on the carpeted floors.
I love my shark $300 worth every penny vs hurting myself cleaning
"Invest in your cleaning tools" ... you mean like your slippers that double and floor dust mops?! Perfect!
THOESE slippers ! Where can I buy a set ? Thank you Great Tips ! I learned !!!!🌻
Best cleaning hack for me: listening to But First, Coffee videos in the background while I clean 😁 best motivation to get things done ✅
I'm a professional cleaner and my favourite tips for cleaning bathrooms is:
• Wet your shower/tub (essential)
• Apply product
• Apply toilet bowl cleaner and pre spray the surface
• Clean the vanity starting from the mirror
• Clean toilet
• Clean shower
• Clean tub
• Finish with vac and mop of floors
Do you have a recommendation for a shower clean with hard water stains? I've tried to simplify as she's suggested but nothing cuts those hard water stains.
@@kristinayep3319 The current tend on here is to use Dawn Powerspray :) Not sure if you'd need to use a magic eraser sponge with it or not.
@kristina yep I use toilet bowl cleaner in my shower to get the orange rust stains out from well water if those are the stains you’re talking about!
Hi. What about the refrigerator? Any good hacks for keeping it clean? Are there any liners for that?
@@kristinayep3319 try a baking soda paste. Also, Lysol makes a hard water rust toilet bowl cleaner that works great and some use it in the shower. It’s a black bottle but I would test an area first.
I use an oven liner on my craft desk to keep it clean. It handles the heat from my heat tool and ink, paint, etc. are easily cleaned off of it.
Great idea
That's brilliant
Genius. I don’t have that yet but want to one day.
😲
Omg I never thought of that Thank You
These really are great tips, I have been incorporating a lot of them for the last couple of months and my husband tells me the house has never looked as clean as it does now. I also employ the rule just start and do 5 minutes because once you get started you usually will find that you have the motivation to keep going and get it all done. Just getting started is sometimes the hardest part.
I completely agree, getting started is the hardest part 😂. I set alarms on my phone which prompt me to start cleaning. 🌸
Hopefully your husband helps out and doesn't leave it all to you!
Tip #1 - Don’t neglect the little things (e.g., toothbrush holder). Trick - every day, take a few extra minutes and clean just a few of the smaller things
Tip #2 - Use an oven liner (non-stick reusable oven liner)
Tip #3 - Skip mopping (spreads dirt around). Instead use a steam cleaner instead (swiffer for daily use)
Tip #4 - Clean windows with homemade cleaner made of 1 tsp of baking soda and vinegar (not sure i got the formula on this one)
Tip #5 - Tackle simple tasks quickly and frequently - do small things as they are needed, daily, instead of letting things pile up and doing larger cleaning events every week
Tip #6 - Use cleaning checklists
Tip #7 - lists by time etc.
Tip #8 - work top to bottom
Tip #9 - schedule cleaning time into your week instead of trying to squeeze it in here and there, minimize distractions
Tip #10 - have a cleaning caddy to make an easy grab -
Tip #11 - simplify your supplies, reduce specialty cleaners: light duty evaporation cleaner for glass, heavy duty cleaner for grease, abrasive cleaner
Tip #12 - invest in your tools
You just saved me lol thanks
What material is this oven liner made from? Is it something like foil or rubber or something different ? 🤔
I think the recipe for #4 was 1 C Water, 1 C Vinegar, 1 tsp Baking Soda. 👍
@@scottpegggoldenberg9736 It was cornstarch. 😉
Ty for the tldr
The caddy is a big help. I have one for each floor of the house with the tools for that floor. The smartest cleaning organizing tip I followed.
I always feel obligated to warn people: steam cleaners can warp and buckle wood floors, voiding their warranty. They are not recommended for most wood surfaces, but certain types are okay.
I also came to say the same thing. We have hardwood floors and I wanted to buy a steam cleaner but everything I read said that steam cleaners should only be used on tile floors.
I did not know! Thank you. I just bought one!
That makes sense, it's not something I would do.
@@onefrugalmom9155 I use it on my kitchen floor, which is linoleum and it was raggedy before i moved in this house, so....(i rent, too, and i've begged for new linoleum...it's been 5+ years, so i've given up on asking.) 🙄🤨
Yes! I know ceramic would be fine but I wouldn’t use my steam mop on my wood floor
My biggest cleaning motivation is to have guests over. I tell my husband that we need to have friends over every weekend, if not for socializing then atleast to have a clran & tidy house for rest of the week. 😂
You can guess what this 1 year of pandemic has caused in my house.
Totally agree here! We have a small group that meets here once a week now for prayer and Bible Study. It is AMAZING how much that motivates me! Not so much so that I can show off how awesome I am at homemaking, but more so out of consideration for my guests. They should not have to eat off a dirty counter or messy table. Nor should they have to use a dirty bathroom!
That’s when our house gets the cleanest the fastest, too!
My mother in law was extremely picky about cleaning. Her home was never so much a home as a showcase. I used to get very stressed before a visit and would deep clean for a week. Then one day I looked around, decided things were clean enough and told my husband screw it, I'm tired of stressing so bad over what she thinks.
Exactly. Usually I am able to clean more in the 20 minutes before guests are due to arrive than in an hour any other day.
…which is why i don’t have people over 😊
Here is my tip: I bought the purple FABULOSO concenteate ( bc it smells divine) and made a spray bottle which I keep out on the kitchen counter. My husband likes the smell so much that he will reach for it to clean up... just to smell it. Also, bc it is already out, he doesn't have to dig for it, so he is more likely to use it. I put it in a pretty glass bottle so that it doesn't look bad being out.
Yes Fabuloso smells great, but it is what damaged my laminate flooring when a cleaner used it. I have not been able to get them back to normal since. Be cautious and always follow recommendations.
Where can you use fabuloso?
Did you mix it with water?
@@kimhamilton363 I came home and found the cleaning lady with a big bucket of water w/ fabuouso and a string mop on my floors.
@@kimhamilton363 Yes, whatever proportion is on the jug.
Thank you, Kallie! My mother had four children in five years and her cleaning strategy was as follows. If you can’t see it, smell it or trip over it, don’t worry about it! I tend to be a tidier but since I’m 63, I have to pace myself and your tips are very helpful! 🥰
I hear you, Jan! I used to be very meticulous..
But now I am elderly and have to prioritize!
@@kathleensaenz4717 Yes, we can’t do it all and our health is most important.
@@janeschmidt9611 I'm also 63 and i have chronic illnesses, two of which are osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, so i have to do what i consider most important and, like you said, pace myself! I live alone (well, my dog and i...lol) and only occasionally get visitors, so no one's going to need therapy because my house is less than spotless...
👏👏👏
My mom used to be a professional cleaner. Her #1 tip is to wipe down your shower/bath immediately after you've done using it. That way any residue form products used (shampoos, soaps) don't get a chance to dry in to the tile and you avoid water stains on your shower doors. So simply use a squeegee or a towel to wipe down your bathroom after every shower/bath. It makes it so much easier to clean.
Something I have been working on for years is decluttering. We have a large family. One day when speaking to my little one the thought came to me when speaking about cleaning...”If you have too many things to clean up off your floor you have too many things.” If a room feels overwhelming and you feel like you can’t get it clean it enough you just have plain too much to care for. I love playing the minimalism game. For each day of the month you get rid of that many items. Ex. September 21st you get rid of 21 items. September 22nd you get rid of 22 items etc. I will dig and search and get my kids involved.
Love the lists, and the scheduling time! Newborn and toddler over here too and have had trouble finding a good cleaner during pandemic so we’ve been trying to adopt new habits to tackle it ourselves. Thank you so much!!
I will admit that I loved having a cleaning lady! During the last few years of my working career, I hired Dawn who came in twice a month (I lived alone) to make my condo sparkle and cleaned. She replaced the bedding and washed the dirty sheets as part of her responsibilities.
Yes, you are correct that we can learn a lot from cleaning people. I particularly like the tip from Melissa Maker about adding cornstarch to water and vinegar to clean mirrors and glass. I am going to try that tip! I might need to invest in a steam cleaner; what you said about it leaving floors sanitized and about it getting all the stuff up - the stuff that fills up the grooves and dips - makes a lot of sense. Thank you, Kallie, thank you! 🐝🐝🐝
The best piece of cleaning advice I ever received is not to feel guilty for accepting or hiring help when you need it. Whether you’re a new mom or a full time working woman…
Say yes when your mother in law offers to do the dishes.
Accept when your sister offers to cook dinner.
When your husbands Aunt asks if she can help…find her a chore.
And, if you have the financial means, hire the extra help when you need it.
As a mom and full time working, co-owner of a business with my husband, it took me forever to admit that I needed help and even hiring someone to come in once a week and pick up the slack has made a huge difference in my stress level and therefore, in my interactions with my family.
Yes! Us mothers in law would love to help
@@susanlangguth955 I’ve been blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law who has truly become one of my best friends. She’s always the first one there to help me when I need it. ❤️
I watch Fly Lady and I can see that you definitely have been inspired by her in many many ways. That's a compliment. She has been around for a while. ☺
I agree, Fly Lady seems to be the long standing original that many tubers are inspired from. But there's always room for one more good one.
This video was the ultimate pep talk to cleaning!! Thank you!!
I'm a "tidier" too! Nothing irks me more than cluttered untidy common areas in our home! However, I am married to a "stop & drop" kinda guy. 😱 The struggle is real.....
Lol I have a son that does that. If I see him...I stop him and tell him put it away NOW.
feeeeeeel you!
I’m starting to think it is inevitable that “tidiers” are doomed to marry someone completely opposite to them. My husband and I are this way as well, it’s a daily issue! I love him but damn, why couldn’t you just put those clothes in the hamper instead of on the floor 5 feet from the hamper... 😂
Hear you. I am a tidier spend 3 hours one time a week to clean house. I hate when things are thrown everywhere.
Husband and son are both like that.
I keep vinegar in a spray bottle and use it on my sinks and taps. You can also spray it on your stainless steel pots to get rid of that rainbow effect, makes your pots sparkle. And, if you have a glass kettle, you can put a 1/4 cup of vinegar in it and then half fill it with water, let it boil for a bit and all that limescale just disappears! Vinegar is magical lol.
It sure is!!! I use it to wash laundry 🧺 clean my coffee maker, windows and bathroom cleaner. Its awesome. My doctor told me it was a good alternative to laundry soap because I have very sensitive skin
why lol?
How much Vinegar do you use with how much water in a spray bottle? I always seem to use too much vinegar. Going to try the kettle tip
@@kimberley8114 I don't dilute my vinegar with water. If you get distilled white vinegar it is already diluted with water and 5% acidity
Ok thanks Jessica 👍
Purchasing a Roomba was the best thing we ever did. I couldn't keep up with pet hair (two cats and a dog) and my floors (hardwood mostly) always looked dirty. It's nice to just let it run every other day or so.
I LOVE the roombas, WHEN they work. I've been through 3 in 2 months, so I switched to the shark. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but it's working. It's also half the price of my roomba. I rescue animals, and my floors looked terrible, until the roomba. I was addicted to my sparkly floors, and then it would stop working, ughhhhh. I want to buy the 9+, along with the brava (bundle), but I'm waiting until every review isn't a one, lol.
I call my roomba my “electric swiffer” makes my house dust free and does a fairly good job. This way I can use my regular vac once every couple of weeks to deeply vacuum
Twice I have searched something and came across your channel. I love your energy and modesty. You’re really pretty and I truly appreciate how you are so detailed with everything. Hope you have a wonderful year and be safe 🤍
I keep cleaning supplies for my bathrooms in each bathroom...that way it doesn't distract me when I notice something needs to be wiped down
Me too.
Me too but more because I don’t want to walk up & down the stairs yet alone with bathroom products like a scrub brush.
Me too. It’s so much easier.
I absolutely agree with the use of a steam mop. Such a game changer!! Also, I never thought I would be a robot vacuum person....but that is also a game changer. It doesn't do a thorough vacuuming, but it does hit the general areas and makes my life easier. Love your channel and all your "tidy up" suggestions. I do try to do one extra task per day, that way I'm not overwhelmed on one particular cleaning day.
Thanks for doing the work of gathering all these tips - I always look forward to your videos!
Thank you so much for your ideas, tips and tricks! I love watching you! You are funny and I just appreciate the time you give us each week.
I love this. Doing small bits at a time is so helpful. Especially with lots of kids!
I set a timer for 15 minutes on weekdays. During that time I focus on one area only. On the weekend, I set timer for 1 hour and play this "cleaning game" 3 times each day. Morning, afternoon, evening. By doing short bursts, I have more energy and things get done without me feeling like it is forever or a hassle. When it is a holiday I do my weekend thing but instead of 1 hour, I do 2 hours. Works for me
I had enough cleaners for my house through years while I was working.I lost my job and now I am cleaning my home and let me tell you something..I really thought that my home was clean but when I started doing it by myself I realised that I REALLY CLEAN IT and I love all the process.Let’s be realistic, cleaners have 8-10 hours to clean our home so many things will not be done in perfection.I clean my house in 2-3 days and the result is awesome.I am grateful that those woman cleaned my home when I couldn’t but my home is really cleaned only when I do it.
Kallie. I shared the "Motivation" with my Elder[74 & 72] sisters. One just said thanks. " That woman talks too much!" is what the eldest said. I laughed! I will say the pace of your speaking in this video was more subdued and I liked that because I didn't have to rewind and listen again. Great tips. Please hug your "3" including Olive!
I started cleaning my bathroom every night after I tucked my kids into bed and right before my shower. I never have to actually schedule weekly cleaning of it now. It’s a game changer!
The best cleaning hack is to get rid of the clutter in your house.
If we look at a 1950s routine, there was a dedicated amount time for daily tidying, a dedicated amount of time to do one weekly chore and time to do one monthly task. Also foil works in bottom of oven as well
Yes my grandma wouldn’t let us just use a cup all day. If we were done with it for the time being she’d wash, dry,& put it away.
And one day was Wash Day, and another was...something else, but i forgot what my mom told me about the other days...lol. I just always remember having a washer and dryer so there was no special day for it.
Another tip I learned while cleaning houses, hand washing floors is better for: 1) really getting any trouble spots clean (you can feel it with your wash rag in your hand, but not with a mop) and 2) cutting drying time (mopping a floor adds far more water to your surface, it's weird how big a difference it can make).
OMG, I totally agree the hand washing of the floors makes it so much cleaner, for the space will almost shine more. 😀
Yup, I always hand-wash the kitchen and bathroom. When we moved into this apartment, someone had left behind a swiffer wet jet, and it's okay for keeping the other areas clean, when you don't have the space for a mop & bucket
I used to scrub by hand, but not any more since I discovered steam mopping. Blows scrubbing by hand away.
My favorite time-saver is one that I learnt from decluttering videos. Place related objects in a tray or basket. That way, whenever You need to "clear" a space, the only thing you need to do is pick the basket and place it away. Also, make the basket look nice, or place something you like in it, so it is not an eye sore
I do that too, it's a life savor 😀
I cleaned houses in California, mostly in La Jolla and Bonita while going to college. It was one of the best jobs I've ever had. 1. Don't forget to disinfect after you clean. 2. Wear gloves. 3. Clean things that are germy (like the outside of the toilet and toilet seat) with a germ killing cleaner and paper towels. Don't use cleaning cloths. 4. Don't forget to clean the trash cans. 5. move the furniture slightly when vacuuming so you can get that ring of dirt that goes around the legs 6. if you have pets (I do) remember that you may not be able to smell them, but other people can. Air out your house frequently. 7. When you vacuum, also vacuum into closets as much as you can. 8. Don't forget to clean your vacuum inside and out, including the wheels. 9. If the front door isn't clean, the house isn't clean. 10. Prioritize. I say this as a former housekeeper, know what is important and do that first while your energy is high. 11. Don't forget door jambs and cobwebs. Takes no time, makes a huge difference. 12, A messy house that is clean will never look clean. Tidy as you go if you need to, but clear those surfaces and put things away. Besides, what kind of dusting are you doing when everything is cluttered? A lousy job, to be honest. Clear the surface first.
I watch cleaning videos all day, some days, and this was the best. Most have one or two truly helpful tips that you will use. All of these tips will be integrated into my cleaning routine. Ty
Thank you. These cleaning tips were very helpful. Your puppy is so adorable!!!
Not that I have the kind of savings that would allow for a weekly cleaner to begin with, but I always figured even if I did, I would be too embarrassed of my mess to let someone else clean it up. Even if I'm paying them, lol. I would be constantly scrubbing the floors before they'd arrive. 🤦♀️ Thanks for these tips!
As a professional cleaner- I owned a house cleaning/window cleaning business for over a decade before buying a truck mounted steam cleaning company (carpet/tile/upholstery steam cleaning)- go room by room. Grab your cleaning caddy and focus on one room at a time. Do all the dusting, surface cleaning, and floors room by room instead of whole house dusting then whole house surfaces and floors etc. you spend much less time walking back and fourth across the house starting with one room and getting all the cleaning done then on to the next and next. It also helps keep you focused on what you’re doing so you don’t forget things. And put your checklist with your caddy! Check things off as you go until you get into the routine. And also hire a professional to do once a year deep cleaning of carpets and tile and furniture. Regular cleaning is like brushing your teeth and professional cleaning is like going to the dentist. Once a year professional cleaning will help you maintain your everyday upkeep cleaning. Just a couple more tips from a professional in the trade 👍🏻 great video
Wow!!! Even more good stuff!!! Thank you:)
The walking is when I rest!
I moved into a home lived in by a messy man. I love my steam cleaner. I got major work done and now to get more details in cleaning program.
Love your channel 😍 You make watching cleaning videos enjoyable 😄 Just the right amount of talking and not trying to push products all the time.
Great video! Just my two cents worth- if you read your oven manual- some have a lower heating element under the solid bottom and state “do not use” an oven liner. I’d suggest everyone check first. Apparently it can cause heating issues, burning and uneven cooking.
I wouldn’t use a liner, what’s leaching into the air when it gets hot???? It’s plastic!!! Heck no!
Thanks a lot, I will definitely check that first!
@@kimmy0868 Plastic melts at a higher temperature than the usual oven can go. There are silicone baking trays that also do not melt.
I literally paused this video and cleaned my kitchen and washed my dishes! It took me about a half hour, but it was well worth it! Plus I got to reward myself by finishing your video! Thanks for all the great tips! I do need to know what steam cleaner you have. Sending love from indiana!😘😘😘😘
Yay! Love this! Thank you so much for the up-load!:)
Listening to my audio books help a lot while cleaning. My Saturday morning are my scheduled cleaning time and it works
This was very informative and helpful. Thanks!
I used to read “Hints from Heloise” in the newspaper every week, and got lots of great homemaking tips from her.
Vinegar and baking soda were recommended by her often, and are two of the best cleaning products you can use.
The easiest way to keep your house clean is to hire a professional. I think I’m going to hire a cleaning service.
Cheers
As a janitor I 100% agree on everything
Especially invest in a roomba and steam mop that has accessories its gamechanger
It saves me so much time and energy on vaccuming and I can turn it on wherever I'm at and I can use it everyday rather than vacuuming once/twice a week
So if I have an guest coming over last minute I can run it while I'm out getting things or something
Also it makes me keep things off the floor
If you dont have money ask for Amazon gift cards for Christmas, birthdays save it up and on black Friday or a sale comes you have can way less or be free for you
I gave away my roomba. I might have to much furniture for one, or maybe its just the small rooms, even though programmable, I dunno. It could not do my whole house without redocking, would zig zag haphazardly and miss large areas, yet going over the same spot. It would get stuck under furniture and I'd have to get it out, then it wouldn't run at all, and I'd have to put it back on the docking station. The person that has it now has an open floor plan, not as much furniture and has less issues.
@@rms5993 i have a decent number of furniture but it don't mess with the roomba messing up. Maybe the furniture was too close together the most problem I have is my floor vents and redocking but thats does it just takes a while
@@TheJmoneyp If having chairs pulled in around my dining room table or end tables beside sofas is to close together for it, I don't need it.
Cleaning tools need to make my life easier, not aggravate.
@@rms5993 welp my dining table and chairs have no problem but sorry your experience was bad at least your friend has a better experience
@@rms5993 I have a Neato D7 and it is lightyears ahead of the roombas I've dealt with. It is incredibly thorough, not very redundant in terms of what path it takes, and only occasionally gets stuck. Once you know it will get stick on something, you can add a "no-go" line to the map - I've blocked off a high pile rug, for example. I have shelves it goes under, plants it goes around, stairs it avoids falling down...this thing is incredible. I can even tell it to clean the dining room and it will navigate through the kitchen and entry hall and go do that room and come back and dock itself. It has all 3 floors of the house mapped out, and it shows you exactly where it cleaned every time you run it. It has a "delicate" mode, too, in case you really want to make sure it doesn't push anything around. Also, it will go dock itself if it gets low on power and go finish up when it recharges enough. I try to just split up the area into multiple sections if I notice it having to do that so my kids don't get startled by the vacuum suddenly turning on in the basement.
I used to be a tidier. Now that I have five kids - two in school full time, one in school part time, and toddler twins - and a busy volunteer schedule, I genuinely don’t have that time and energy every day. You’ll hear those “This only takes a minute. Five minutes. Ten minutes.” Those minutes add up to hours a day I don’t have. So now I do the bare minimum much of the time and deep clean when I have a large chunk of time when my husband is home.
Wow! I’m wondering how you have the time or energy to do a lot of volunteer work when you have 5 children.. 2 of them being toddlers ? Can’t imagine doing any volunteer work with 5 kids. Kudos to you ❤️
Maybe consider reduced volunteering for this season of life? I also love to be involved in helping others, but right now I'm focusing on meeting the needs the people I am wholly responsible for, and spending less time and energy on those I am less accountable for.
@@TheDeepRedCharlie I’m sure this was meant kindly, but the assumption that the needs of those I’m wholly accountable for aren’t being met because of my work is incorrect. I was responding to the question of whether I’m a tidy-as-you-go person or one who works in large chunks, and I gave the reason for my being the latter. I’m deeply dedicated to the needs of my family, and if the laundry gets done in 6 loads on a Saturday rather than one load a day, or I give the counters a cursory wipe daily and do a deep scrub one night a week, they’re not suffering. We’re very happy.
@@theresabrown1272 it sounds far more impressive than it is! They tag along with me and keep themselves busy with helping or getting up to kid mischief with the other volunteers’ kids!!
This is a late comment, but I can see why you habits had to change. My sister said saving up for a Roomba (don’t know if she got that brand) really took the stress from her, her husband and their children.
Also having other little tricks really helped her but let’s be honest, mess will happen with kids and it is more important to enjoy your time with them then having a house that is 100% clean the whole day.
(I personally will tidy up toys random set times of the day rather then continuously when I look after children)
I ADORE my oven liner! I also use the "just one or two extra things" mantra when doing my normal chores. That idea even works in the goat barn! Do the normal stuff plus one or two little things and you rarely have to face the big uglies!
Top to bottom and left to right. I believe I also learned that from Melissa Maker's videos. Thank you!👍🏽😎
I love cleaning videos. Thanks for the tips!

I'm struggling with depression and need to deep clean. This video has helped. I like the designated days/times for cleaning specific items
I also struggle with it. I am embarrassed to say how little I have cleaned my house in the last month.
I am in the same boat. Something that really helped me is I focused on making my entryway look extra clean & tidy as a start. It was previously covered in mail & clutter. I am slowly spreading out from that area & making sure to keep up with that so if I get disappointed, I have a beautiful area of my home that can remind me that I can take back the rest of my home.
You've got this!!
Ketovore
Check out the site Unf**k Your Habitat. It's designed for people with depression
Details make the difference. I keep in mind when cleaning/decluttering - it's not just about putting things away, it's also about making it easier to keep things clean. You don't want to end up with a hard to maintain home
Appreciate the ideas! I have a Frenchie named Olive, too!! Love them so much.
Great tips! Thank you so much!
FYI: for those suggesting/interested in using aluminum foil on the bottom of oven - it is a FIRE hazard for certain oven types!!
Just determine what you’ve got and google it first to be safe.
Great vid!
Wellll....I MAY have pushed the trash down once or twice...maybe!!!
Great tips, thanks!!
Sending Blessings!!
Love these hacks! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for inspiring!
Also a simple furniture polish not only adds a shine to your work, but helps with dust and dirt build up by encouraging it not to stick to furniture and surfaces as much. So simple but it cuts the amount of dust that shows up on my coffee table, entertainment unit etc in half over a few days. I even use it on my dash In my car! I highly recommend trying it out. Beware of using on floors though as it can make surfaces more slippery and could be a hazard underfoot.
You are so amazing. What stores do you usually do your grocery shopping at? Do you ever stock up on water? Can you possibly do some in store grocery shopping videos? I think it would be awesome if you could show how you do your full shopping
Awesome hacks & tips! Thanks for sharing.
I just saw a hack for grout! Lysol blue toilet cleaning liquid! Squirt it on, use a scrubbie brush (round bristle dish kind) and within seconds…. BOOM! Clean!
You are one of my favorite youtubers by far! I only have time to watch about 4-5 people on a regular basis and you are always one of them. There was a video I think recently where you were talking about how quick tasks actually are even though we put them off, and today was a prime example of that. The area around our wood stove became a dumping area and was Soo messy, today I finally took the time to clean it after like MONTHS and it took all of 30 mins 😅 would have been quicker if my toddler wasn't trying to "help"! Thanks for all the great content!!
I have been cleaning professionally for several years, and my best tips are to use Norwex descaler on shower doors with a magic eraser, use Norwex laundry soap mixed with water for an all purpose cleaner in bathrooms, kitchens and on floors, with a good quality microfiber mop pad, and for fellow professional cleaners, the best “caddy” for your supplies is a rolling craft cart sold at Hobby Lobby. It has compartments and pockets that are perfect for keeping all your supplies.
Wonderful tips, thank you! 💯👍
Just found your channel. Love it. Thank you
The most satisfying cleaning experience ever, and the easiest success I ever had was to clean my oven racks this way. Run the bath water till it’s at its hottest. Lay a towel in the tub to protect it from scratching. Put the racks in and fill the tub with the hottest water. Sprinkle in some dishwasher powdered soap. I used Finish brand. Leave for a few hours. Even the little creases where the wires intersect are clean with barely any scrubbing. Everything basically falls off and the racks are like new. I’ve never seen my oven racks look this perfect since we bought the oven.
Saving this tip.
@Johanne Champagne- How difficult is it to get the grime out of the tub when the racks come out? This sounds like a great tip! I would like to try it. Thanks!
@@MEMORIA1316 Not a problem at all. I just took the plug out and let the water drain. Most of the gunk was on the towels I used to line the tub. I used rag towels for that. I can’t remember what I did after with them but probably just washed them.
Love all these tips! I never thought about the mopping tip of using a steam mop instead. I recently purchased a hand held steamer but I’m curious to see what your choice for steam mop would be. After seeing this it makes me want to start researching them for a future purchase.
Some of them even have an attachment or some sort of capability to use it on the carpets as well. I've used a steam cleaner for my tile floors for over 15 years, and I'd never go back to using chemicals and a mop.
Loved this! Thank you so much for this video
Thank you for the tips. I love your videos!
Love this video. Now I want to clean my house now lol
Came for the tips, stayed for the Olive sightings.
Great video!! Helpful and new ideas for me.
Thank you for tips..another great video
Thanks for all the tips! What steam mop do you have?? I definitely prefer this way much better! 🙂
Great list, can’t wait to incorporate some of these.
I was so proud of myself because I implement quite a few of these cleaning hacks. The first one with the toothbrush is so true. My teenager is responsible for “cleaning” her own bathroom. One day I decided to give it a deep clean and when I saw her electric toothbrush and water pic, I almost threw up. I could not believe how disgusting it was. The water had a pink film in the container and the toothbrush holder was just engulfed in nastiness. Needless to say, we had a little chat and I pointed out how she puts these things in her mouth daily. As I say in my house, “Does it pass the cootie test?” If not, start scrubbing! Great video - I always enjoy watching your channel.❤️
Great tips. Thanks for sharing!
The oven liner can also be cut up and used on your stove top. We’ve had ours for about a year and it’s SO easy to clean and still in perfect shape
Thank you. I’ll have to order another one or two and do this.
My biggest trick for keeping the house clean is to eliminate messes before they happen. Sometimes it can't be helped, but just being mindful can go a long way. The less mess you make, the less there will be to clean up, (especially in the kitchen)!
Wow this is great! Thanks for sharing!
Never knew there was an invention called an oven liner!!! Moving into a newly renovated apartment. This is already in my cart. Thank you so much!
Love the idea of getting rid of distractions...but what if they are children lol
Put sox on their hands and let them dust. If older, give them little chores to do while you clean. Teach them as they grow how to clean. Then let them play after.--You too.
I involve my little kiddo in cleaning with me. He actually knows that after lunch is cleaning time and he actually keeps me accountable to it.
I second that question !🙋♀️
😂😂
😆
Tidier 🙋🏻♀️, for an oven liner I use heavy duty aluminum foil. Dirty. throw it out and replace- no need to wash a liner.
Thank you for this! xx
Great tips! Olive is adorable!
Do Not steam clean laminate floors. They warp!!
really 😏 i was just going to buy one and found this video searching
@@nancyla8773 I have laminate floors and I use a steam cleaner and my floors never warped. I lovey steam cleaner. The floor feels so good afterwards. It's up to you but I have had no problems.
I love this video.🔆 I caution against the steam mop if you have hard wood or laminate flooring. I am positive that using a steam mop has caused my flooring to separate.
Good tips.....and I have both the same steamer, and the same hand vac! I love both of them. Can't wait to try the window cleaner.
I love my Bissell crosswave. Steam does require you to reseal the floor grout often.
