Great content as usual, going to be a really good looking 40.

Appreciate it... definitely nice to see it looking like a 40 again.

Man, it’s really coming together. Cool. It drove out of the garage!

It's a good feeling when it moves again...there is a light at the end of the tunnel. 😄

What's the Toyota part number for the dash? Love your detail and step by step commentary. Keep up the great work!

The OEM part is 55404-90301 (Upper Safety Pad Assembly, Instrument Panel). There is an aftermarket option at www.fj40dash.com/, but it does have a few markings and slight differences, but cheaper. My OEM one from '76 was still in good shape right until two winters ago when a -40F cold snap put a split right in the center. :-o

I am impressed with your project! Where did you end up connecting the return line to the tank? Did you use the factory location on the drivers side of the tank.

Yup, used the factory feed and return. I'm not sure what year added the return - might be 76 and up. The older versions didn't have a factory return from what I recall.

Very nice job on your FJ40! Where did you source the misc. rubber grommets, like the large one on the gas tank cover and others located on the dash and firewall?

I still had most all of those as originals in good shape, thankfully. The few that weren't good I was able to get from Specter Offroad, and Toyota still carries a few too.
