The fact that this work of art has 4cyl and is 28.5l is absolutely INSANE.
290hp with over 2000ft-lbs of torque through those narrow back tires from something that's over a century years old...absolutely phenomenal.

I would imagine a compression release lever is there somewhere. When rotated it pushes down on the exhaust rocker, lifting the exhaust valve off its seat a bit.
Old Caterpillar engines with the pop motor starter had those. Even at -50°C you could get the pop engine running and let it warm up a bit. Meanwhile check fluid levels, fill fuel tank and release compression. Starter gear in low and engage the clutch. Now the diesel is turning over without fuel injection and the starter engine exhaust ran through a pipe in the intake manifold to help preheat the intake air. Then you could sit in the truck and have a coffee from your thermos. This is getting the thick oil warmed up and pumping. Now go out and change to high gear in the starter and go have another coffee. After about 10 minutes more or so the diesel is loosening up, so you can climb up and push the throttle lever ahead to idle fuel position. The diesel will start poping in the exhaust and blowing smoke rings. Eventually it will kick the starter bendix out. Turn the starter engine fuel off and shift to neutral. Idle the starter down and let it run out of fuel to let the float drop and not bounce and flood the starter engine. The float bouncing would hammer the needle and seat out.
Left the diesel warm up some more before hoing to work.

As soon as a modern f1 car gets around this, the race is over. A modern F1 car handles corners better, has better acceleration, higher top speed, better brakes, more responsive throttle, and on tracks, better lap times. Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbot" in German. :-//

@@johncfalk Its not so easy, sadly also China dictates the end of use of all combustion cars worldwide. Its not about the environment....Chinas boss Darth Xi told most politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic, aircrafts, ships or combustion based industry after 2030...I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China.... China just rules the world and wants to sell lithium and e cars...:-(

This will never happen in the poor parts of the EU. In Bulgaria and in the Balkans in general, we still drive Euro 1 and 2 cars. We will drive cars with ICE for at least another 50 years. Petrol engines can run on natural gas. The conversation is affordable. Nobody can deprive millions from motorisation.

Your information is incorrect, the sale of brand new ICE cars will be banned but expect them to still be buzzing around well into 2050

@@benjimc1 well the greens and China just dont accept combustion vehicles after 2030, the female vice president of Friday for future Mrs Reemtsma stated that FFF cant garantee that there wont be fanatic climate activists shooting their pumpguns on motorists using the german Autobahn if the people do not stop using ICE cars quickly.... Now tell me who wants to die using an ICE car because of FFF terrorists?
