Actually, many of the whites were not born in the country. Prominent examples include Ian Smith's wife Janet, Clifford Dupont, and Desmond Lardner Burke. On the other hand, Ian Smith was born in Rhodesia, as was also true of 40 per cent of the whites at the time of the March 1969 census.

In addition to the song's melancholy style of recording, the background footage of Rhodesian soldiers makes this more powerful. The recording was made in a venue in Salisbury, 1978. By that point, poor Rhodesia was losing the war against the PF, and the whites were leaving in droves, essentially dwindling to one-third it was in the early 70's. This impacted their war effort, and to continue their defiance, Mr Ian Smith called to african volunteers. The majority of the footage in this video is black soldiers doing their work. This shows how desperate Rhodesia was, even using people who were made to fight against their fellow people on the Zambezi.

As far as i can ascertain, the terrorists were people who wanted to rebel against the white government, as for what pushed them into it, i would say a mixture of anti colonialism and racism drove them to their path, then murder of innocent people, both black and white cemented their place as terrorists, combine this with the eastern bloc supporters, supplying weapons and providing training peppered with indoctrination and you get the communist terrorist.
Now, i have no official figures of “ How many were murdered “ but, if you wish to research it yourself please do.

@@A-Good-Old-Rebel well if we go by your definition of what a terrorist is then the Rhodesian military were terrorists too. You pretty much summed up why the rebels chose to fight, maybe the superior government of that time should have addressed those concerns. You have no figures because the fact is a few whites died compared to blacks on both sides take your own advice and Google those numbers. I am glad you're taking an interest, maybe study up on the subject before you post and make yourself look like an i d I o t. Ever heard the term the enemy of my enemy is my friend, why wouldn't the terrorists seek help from the Eastern bloc if it was offering it? I am sure they would have jumped in bed with the US if it had offered them help, kind of like the mujahadin did. They would later go on to become the taliban or according to your faulty logic capitalist taliban terrorists.
