@@Predestinated1 the king of spades died but, at what cost? If I were to weigh my options, I'd rather construct a better plan of ganging him up after luring him into the alley. Arisu's plan to fill the drugstore with gas using a few cans of air freshener was just too impractical. It took way too long to set it up and for the gas to disperse in the entire room. And what's worse, it smells so it's easy to notice especially for a highly trained combatant like the king of spades whose senses are honed. If it wasn't for Aguni's follow up, the whole plan would've failed miserably. Regardless, I'm still mad he missed the shot up close from behind the target.

Just to give you some info in the manga, the King of Spades chose to kill all the players because he thought it was the only way to end their suffering swiftly. He even buries the bodies of the players he kills. It is only slightly alluded to in the netflix series but that scene for his backstory was one of his dear friends asking him to end his suffering. When he says he is sorry he seems to be hallucinating in the manga thinking that Aguni is his friend that he killed.

@@coldfury2652 i mean the biggest problem was the lack of content. The manga definitely needed more games + content for the live action to truly strive. The second problem is the rush content from the live action itself. This could have definitely been three seasons before making it to the queen of hearts game. And lastly they fucked up the parallels and didn’t let certain character get all their good moments

@@coldfury2652 All this being said, I know what happens next episode but these were my thoughts for this episode. And I am not super mad about all this since overall I still thought the episode was fine, but I just didn’t like some writing decisions.
My biggest problem is just Niragi overall as a character, that scene with him shooting Chishiya and not dying after being shot through the chest with a shotgun was annoying.
The King of Spades pretty much killing all my other favorite characters by himself after all the stuff they’ve survived was not good imo but part of that is just me being mad at him destroying Kuina and Ann that way.
Arisu in general this episode was just not good and it wasn’t good for his character.

Everybody: Let's jump the King Of Spades
Two seconds later: Oh no! He's jumping us
So apparently, in the manga, the rivalry between Niragi and Chishiya is played up a lot more. Niragi makes the plan that Arisu came up with in the first game of this season. He's a genius of sorts in the manga. And Chishiya stated that he burned him because he felt they were similar. Which is why this episode culminated in them getting into a battle. Also in the manga, the group is a lot more reluctant to forgive Chishiya after he attempts to leave them to the wolves and bounce back at the beach. The show makes it seem like they're all cool after that incident, so it's definitely a bit more confusing when Chishiya accuses Arisu of hating him because their relationship is still pretty positive in the show.
Aside from that, this episode hits so hard. We've seen these characters go through games and slowly become accustomed to them or witnessed their struggles. To the point where they've learned to adapt and overcome. But then the King Of Spades comes along and slowly manages to overcome each and every one of them. That struggle for survival, the desire to protect their friends but also the desire to live is so raw. Especially when we see that a lot of them considered their former lives to be undesirable and even wondered if it was worth it to escape. But they all found their own reasons to want to leave. Their own things they wanted to protect. Right when they've all decided to live, they get pushed to the brink in this seemingly impossible situation. And THAT, is powerful.

I feel like things could've been dragged out a lot more with the relationships between the cast. Especially in Chishiya and Niragi's case. Niragi is just kinda there and to me seemed like a pointless villain with no real depth to him and at a point he was just straight up annoying. But then I heard a bit more about how he was like in the manga and I feel like if they adapted those things it would've made more sense. Especially his dynamic with Chishiya. Also The whole thing with Arisu not liking Chishiya or atleast being reluctant to, seemed weird to me because they made it seem like they were cool with each other. So thanks for explaining that, it makes more sense now. So yea overall a dope adaption in my opinion but I do feel the characters relationships with one another could've been explored a lot more.

Borderland is basically a limbo/purgatory. They are fighting for their lives in the games just like their bodies irl at the hospital are fighting to survive. It's all about how strong your WILL is. Like two comatosed people at the hospital yield different results depending on their bodies' resiliency. For example, Heiya's backstory proved how much of a fighter she is, who will do anything to survive at any cost (crawled her way out with injured leg, made the doctor cut it in exchange of her virtue, called out the man who hanged himself because he chose the easy way out). She just refuses to give up and die easily, that's why she lived until the end.

@@Karthig1987 my Theory/ logic is, and ((( spoiler alert)))
In the final episode they state that the entirety of borderlands took place within one minute, episode 7 and 8 take place within maybe like, 4-5 hours? In the real world, this would only be like, what, a millisecond, more or less? All of their hearts had stopped for a minute, why would a milisecond even matter? The whole goal of borderlands was to fight as hard as u could to go home, even anns flashback of her discovering the young girls dead body, the guy says "she fought till the very end"
I guess this could be cope but - at the very end of episode 8 they hint at there being a supernatural entity who obviously controls the games, perhaps he allowed all the players who fought intensely to the end to live.. I mean, think about it, Ann lives, heiya lives, kuina lives.... but theres also an entire hospital filled with people.. implying they must of also participated in the games, right? Whether they lived or died to the final king, im guessing if ann lived, then so did anyone who fought in the end(obviously speculation).
They all fought so hard till the end, they fought harder then most of the players, and they all discovered reasons for living, a purpose. Think about it, pretty much every single player, besides the psychopaths, had VERY BAD issues irl. Borderlands was an option to give the players a second chance, and test if they REALLY do want to live, but they had to FIND what they wanted to live for first. They fought for each other, and not just for themselves. They were quite literally in real time, fighting for their lives, unknowingly.
-Each game specifically is designed to test specialties, like endurance or intelligence, but even arisus friend in the last episodes states that "theres not a single game he could of finished all alone". I mean, think about it, there definitely were SOME games where people could of finished alone, like episode one, arisu 100% could of finished that puzzle alone, and even kuina fought an entire game alone. But those were games they were specialized in.
I think the whole point of borderlands is to emphasize that alot of people put their value in what theyre good in, or stupid things that dont ultimately matter in the long run, as opposed to who they are as a person, their morals, or the relationships they have. Arisu was smart irl, but couldnt do much of anything else, therefore he felt like he didnt have a purpose, vs his friends, who all had established jobs and relationships. Arisu wins the hide and seek games cause his friends sacrificed himself, if he had gone in the game alone with a bunch of strangers, he probably would of died. It was his friends sacrifice and love that helped him live. And them getting placed in that games, was simply, the cruel game of life and fate. Chisiya literally wins a game with the game master because he persuaded the game master to find his humanity, and even the little kid, who lets be honest, wouldnt of lasted in a single fucking game alone, survives in the end. The joker made games of all types of variety, but logically, no one is good at everything, its quite literally impossible to survive every single game alone. Its rigged, and very unfair, and the one game master even says he tries to make HIS game as fair as possible, because ultimately, life is incredibly unfair. Plenty of other players fought insanely hard, but still died. Life is unfair and unjust, but alot of people died for each other, rather than themselves. I think the people who died for themselves lost the game of life and luck, and the people who died for someone else, chose to help their loved ones "game". Usagi is a fast runner but she wouldnt of survived without arisu, Kuina is insanely strong and a good fighter, but she couldnt of survived without chisiya. You could finish some of the games alone, but to LEAVE borderlands, and finish ALL of the games, you ultimately needed people by your side, helping you. You do not need to be good at everything, you dont need to be smart, strong, athletic, brave all in one. The Games are a culmination of luck, strategy, and purpose, because life literally throws everything your way, its its INSANELY HARD. You could not survive borderlands if it werent for other people(like when the lawyer game master remembers the man who saved him). He didnt know the value of life, but he realized the importance of other people and their morals. And perhaps Chishiya's constant use of "luck", is just a parallel to IRL. Some things are simply up to fait, destiny, luck, maybe a deity who controls the games. etc (again, could totally just be cope).
Life is like a game, you cant be good at everything, but that doesnt mean you arent deserving of a life you feel purpose in, because itll come to you eventually, just like usagi says in the last episode. They all sacrificed themselves to save each other, and fought hard till the end, so much so that they couldnt imagine their REAL lives without each other.

To be fair, Arisu was unlikely to be hearing wtf was going on outside - he had multiple aerosol products on and he was actively coughing. wth would anybody be hearing under these conditions? Also, him missing multiple times is actually fine by me from a storytelling perspective - he had no training with a weapon, let alone an old weapon like the one he was using - my dude just played videogames and that doesn't mean you're good at handling weapons in real life. It would've been less believable for him to be good at it. Notice how those who did have training, were far better at it?

    IN DEFENSE OF ARISU:
    1) he doesn’t shoot niragi because he decides to stop being weak and selfish in order to survive; chaotic good; because if he had this mindset in the 7 of hearts he could’ve saved his friends instead of freaking out and crying , that’s the WHOLE culmination of his character since season 1 he wants to be a GOOD person and will only shoot until he is very forced to; Chishiya realizes this and wants to be more like this which is why he doesn’t shoot niragi and instead jumps in front of usagi . Arisu doesn’t want to kill or be violent out of hate and revenge because that leads to all the suffering they faced in the borderlands
2: he moves niragi behind the car because he doesn’t want to actively contribute to someone death; remember episode 1 when he tries to save a random person? Yes arisu is working from a an idealist good moral viewpoint
3: the whole point of his arc and maybe even the show is that if people stop being weak and selfish and commit violent acts out of hate/revenge/fear we would all be better off, able to work together and think of a solution !! And this way you not only save yourself but can save everybody else too !!
Damn I love this show..it’s not hopeless and dark and cruel for the sake of it.. it’s to show we (humanity) don’t have to be this way!! And yes it’s idealist , stupid, but like the king of diamonds said, “I died for my ideals,” meaning that if it going to die anyway I might as well go out a good person/someone who lives up to their ideals/morals than being selfish and cruel !! This blew my mind.. Especially when I watched the king of diamonds episode , this is like a religious story/parable where you hear of people such as Jesus who died for their ideals !! And we’re tortured !! Why? We always think that’s crazy and why would anyone do that.. this show gave me that perspective and understanding !!
