    I'm impressed by the difference in economies between the US and, my country, Colombia (South America), one of those bikes could easily be worth 3000-5000 dollars as is, and considering the average salary in Colombia is around 300 dollars a month for a minimum wage job it's really crazy to me how easy it is, compared to Colombia, for someone to buy any bike or car there. I recently bought a 2002 yamaha xt600 and have been saving for over 3 years and it cost me about 3500 bucks and it's a bike that is expensive to maintain for the average person here and is considered a "big bike" considering the average bike here is between 100 and 200cc and pretty much everyone has a bike, because it's cheaper than a car, and it's a necessity, not because it's a toy.

      I totally get it. Bikes like these would easily sell for 5-8K USD or more here in Israel for being "antiques needing some small work done". Bike insurance is super costly here (imagine buying a new 125cc scooter and paying half of the price of the scooter every year to insure it) , as well as the cost to maintain them, and year-round riding weather really makes bikes not a toy but a proper and primary vehicle to most. Finding "low mileage, well kept" old bikes is virtually impossible and if you do manage to find one, it's not gonna be cheap. I ride a 2012 Honda NC700X that has like 150,000 KM and the main reason I bought it is the fuel economy and running costs, plus the reliability. Can't imagine owning and maintaining a "powerful" bike in this economy.

      You might want to check for recalls. Mine had 6 of them still. Polaris took care of it. Also, had to replace the rectifier & battery. Also, pull the fuel lines at the tank. There are filters in there. They get rusty and deteriorate.
      I was told Victory made 2000 of theses back in 2000. Also, the transmission’s go bad with 3rd gear going out @ 15-20K miles.

    Paid around $250 for my 95 NTV 650 Revere including a crate of spare parts, second exhaust, fairings and side cases. Made the locked front brake work again, replaced the carb with a remanufactured one (was actually cheaper than having the old one cleaned) and put new tires and a fresh inspection sticker on it. A bit of cleaning, changing the fluids and a paint job fresh outta the can.
    All in all, I had spent additional $600 on it...just to find out that it ran fine but I was simply too large, making longer rides literally a pain in the ass. Sold it for $1200 and got myself a BMW K 1100 RS (which I had already sold again, but this time with a loss).

    That was a lot of fun. Being a brit, Top Gear was mandatory Sunday night viewing, and their three of a kind challenges were always fun to watch. Personally, I think your homage to British TV was great fun. Where do you see your next challenge taking you? You've already done a boat bike. How about stripping down three big tourers - Harley, BMW and Honda (for example) - and see what the comparison is for laden/unladen; 0 to 60. Weight difference. A gallon of fuel to find out how much further you can go without all the kit, etc.

Since the Cruiser set is all about looks and street savvy, I half expected a "check Me out", at a local night spot, with votes from random participants at the scene. Honestly that would be my last choice. The 550 is a fun little bike the victory looks good and the Vulcan is boring small slow and nothing exciting about that bike. The least enjoyable bike I've ever owned and best thing I ever did was sell it

      @@hachi-rokuperformancegroup3987😮Amazing! I'm 65 and have owned about a dozen bikes at a time most of my adult life. I've sold exactly two dozen bikes in the last two and a half years and I still have two dozen bikes in the barn, none of them barn finds, all running. The Vulcan VN 750 makes my Goldilocks list, a very special category. Not too big not too small, not too short not too tall, not too fast not too slow, It's got torque in the power band where you need it and stopping power when you need it. It's one of the few cruisers that I can take on two lane twisty mountain roads up to Skyline Drive and thoroughly enjoy the ride as a senior version of a roller coaster. It's easy to find bikes that will beat it in some categories but hard to find any that beat it in every category. I'm sorry about your loss. 😁

      @papatorr3669 Před 2 měsíci

      @@hachi-rokuperformancegroup3987The 550 and 750 Kawasaki Spectres we're wonderful bikes in their time. But you had to rev them up to get usable street power, and the front forks were too thin for their weight so handling in the twisties was compromised. That victory has the looks and it's a poser: it couldn't get the tire off the ground at all and I'm betting it couldn't keep up with that Vulcan 750 on any twisty road. Nonetheless the look that people like in a straight line cruiser.

    I actually like the Victory! It definitely could use some fixing up, but for $1000 I think it has the most potential to be a really nice bike. On the other side I personally have never liked the look of those early Vulcans. It's mainly that ungodly ugly king-queen seat and something about the way the tank angles up so much. For the money though I think they all ended up with bikes that have a lot of potential.
