Such an interesting evolutionary advantage on Pandora. As a fan of alien life and environmental films, I love this movie.
The na'vi most likely evolved from the Prolemuris monkey. It's the only land creature we see who kind of has less than 6 legs. All the land creatures have 6, but the Prolemuris has arms that are beginning to fuse together. They most likely share a common descendant. They are also blue, have large eyes, and similar ears.
I don’t think the Na’vi evolved from the prolemuris monkey, but I believe they share a common ancestor

I really hope they do shift in worlds at some point. Were some of the navi are taken to earth for interrogation or perhaps Jake Sully would be taken back to earth for his court martial. Being back on earth in his navi body would have this really bizarre moment of again, being torn between 2 worlds. It would also be akin to the tales of the real Pocahontas who left to england but tragically died.
I also heard a rumor that Sigourney Weaver is supposed to return in this movie too
Sigourney plays the adopted daughter of Jake and Neytiri Possibly a reincarnation of her character they tried to save using the Tree of Souls. (14 Years, the timing works
I've heard later sequels will return to Earth at least once.

Pigment patterns/stripes are something that humans have, too! They just can’t be seen normally with the naked eye. However, there are individuals that are born that have more visible stripes!

or discovering their "america" or building their pyramids, all of this if the navi become autonomous and selfish

They would remain the same because the three laws of eywa doesn't allow them to develop so the planet's in perfect equillibrium

I was waiting for Roanoke to script this movie for being semi-accurate in intra-biology, but you did a quarter, maybe half his job already. Also, irl, our boom-sticks would be outdated and would go for mag-rails or even treasonous-Geneva munitions. Those Navi are boned to the point their actual bones won't make much product.
Ironic. Light-year actually takes place millions of years in the future so original theory that they were sent into space and never heard from again fits. It fits like onward.
. I guess you could ignore the prologue they way we ignored the bug's life toy's in background of toy story2

I don't know the science lore very well but while learning the language I noticed that the words for colors aren't as specific for most colors, excluding three specific colors. tun is red through orange, ean is green through blue and 'om is violet to purple to magenta and there are also words for deep dark colors, light colors, and drab colors. All of them describe a spectrum of color rather than a specific color. rim/yellow, layon/black and teyr/white are the only words that correspond with specific colors. I've theorized for a long time if that has to do with their vision. I wonder if it's uncommon for creatures on Pandora to see shades of blue and green that might contribute to the camouflage of blue and green during the day time. Humans might be able to see the distinction but I wonder if pandoran prey can't.

The life of Neytiri
Based on the Hindu religion (the oldest religion, know to man, to exist) Gods and humans were perceived with a blue skin tone- to show skin tones were dark. Such as Krishna.
Avatar is also a Hindu name in Sanskrit, meaning 'descent'. The Nav' Vi tribe resembles former Indian tribes, too.
A Hindu God- Hanuman, was also a monkey God (from what I've learned), and the Nav' Vi tribe also have tails- as do monkeys. It seems quite connected.

i think it could also be related to pandoras atmospheric composition, which is similar to earths with the addition of methane, xenon, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia. the cool thing about the first three substances in that list is that when burned, they produce blue or purple flames. neptune and uranus, which also have large amounts of methane in their atmospheres, are blue. i think many of the pigments found on pandora are due, in part, to the high concentration of certain compounds in its atmosphere

Thanks for this information going more public or make it more available. I’d like to know your thoughts on why the Navi are the only ones to have four limbs and only two eyes. Where as the other creatures have more.

Let me see? Why do we humans have several different colour of skins? It is the environment and evolution of mankind. It is the same for the Na'vi it is their planet and the environment and evolution. It's simple science.
Absolutely. Avatar: The Way of Water confirms that Na'vi from different parts of Pandora have different skin colors. The Metkayina clan has teal skin (and teal eyes) along with other aquatic optimizations.

🤩🤩🤩 biological science on pandora is just so fascinating.
I noticed that unlike regular human, naavi body almost look the same (no diversity in body type. They are all tall and thin, with long black hair) make it difficult to actually differenciate each individual.
Also no one ever talk yet about the climate on pandora where ice and cold just appears to be unexistant 🤔
It's not necessarily that there aren't more climate zones on Pandora. The two movies described just two tribes. And Cameron didn't say it's all there is, rather hinting at more.
It's extremely unlikely to have a planet with completely no terrain with low precipitation. It's enough that there is one mountain range, and it should cause a rain-shadow at the other side. Maybe not a desert, but at least something different than a rainforest.
Ice didn't exist on earth half of it's history. Not even on the poles. It comes and goes periodically. If there is enough CO2, or methane, or even water vapor, that can be the case.

Given that Cameron's team doesn't come up with an explanation like: The subpolar Na'vi have a quicker metabolism, and a thicker skin, thus keeping their body warm, without the need to cover it.
Since the water tribe had such advanced adaptational traits, it's not difficult to imagine such a case.
