“It’s always been my dream to perform Fauré’s First Violin Sonata with an outstanding pianist such as Rafał,” says violinist Bomsori Kim.
It was Rafał Blechacz who was particularly keen to play Szymanowski’s Violin Sonata. Together, the new duo partners travel from Paris to Warsaw, and from Warsaw to Hong Kong to play live at the Yellow Lounge.

I must admit I was quite skeptical about this event at first, the audience being so close to the performers and people moving around during the performances. But I must say I love how it gives the crowd a chance to interact with the performers, offering a glimpse into the musicians themselves ^^.

I think these two play their instruments with great sensitivity and approach the music from a perfectly aligned concept of it. Most enjoyable in every way. I love Chopin more than any other composer and I have only just discovered Rafal who in my estimation is the most wonderful exponent of Chopin, way up there with Rubinstein! (PS I'm an 85 year old (almost ex) piano teacher). At this point of writing there hasn't yet been any Chopin and may not be, as Chopin didn't write any music specifically for violin and piano but I must say I thought the Mozart was utterly fantabulous!

The duo quite frequently fails to please the ears, which makes this musical collaboration seem rather weird to me. Blechacz is one of the greatest pianists of our time, probably in history too, but as a chamber musician, his interpretation does not always sound convincing. And this violinist is way too mediocre. Besides, honestly speaking, it's not a decent idea to make Rafał perform in a club, his personality doesn't blend well with the club atmosphere.

Unfortuantely agreed. I don't know what they saw in her in Wieniawski and Tchaikovsky competitions. She just fails to achieve anything after winning some prizes... Please link me one "above average" recording from her to prove me wrong.
