    Great bag. Easy duffle construction - no end-cap. Yay! This is so timely, my DGD will need a case for her hospital stay when she delivers our great-grandson! I’ll redraft to larger size, add exterior/interior pockets, and a smaller matching “ditty” bag for toiletries. Thank you for the inspiration. I just love your Channel, Christine! Super appreciate the all-purpose thread approach and mention, I got a good deal on two boxes of polyester threads in two dozen colours and am happy to work within their very basic thread functioning. :). This is in stark contrast my previous hobby of cardmaking, I got every kind of glue and tape imaginable and needed to be certain I was using the best adhesive for the situation. That got exhausting, so I'm happy to be learning a whole new creative skill with what I hope are better consumer attidused and choices. :)

    Hi Christine, I'm asking you to explain why the different methods of sewing the zipper section is used. in this pouch we can sew straight across, but others have outer and lining sewn up to the zipper separately then stitch across the zipper area. Thanks Christine. Perhaps the fabrics designate the methods?

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před rokem +1

      Good question Carylanne. In this bag, I didn't feel the need to put tabs on the end, as the zipper ends on a flat section of the bag. This means that it will sit nicely without the added tabs. There's really no right or wrong way to do the zips. It's mostly personal choice, and whether or not it will affect how the bag will operate. Adding tabs, particularly when you have zips on corners, will help the corners sit better😀

      Thank you Mike.
      With this bag, the opening is on the side, so when you join the corners, it will be hidden, and you'll think it's disappeared. Just find your way between the layers, and you'll be able to pull it all through.
      I did another video recently (giant utility bag) that shows how to join corners, and I think that video has the opening at the bottom😀

    • @ChristinesHomeAffairs
      @ChristinesHomeAffairs  Před rokem +1

      That's a great idea Hilary. Good topic for a video too. I always say that interfacings and stabilisers are really just personal choice when it comes to making bags and craft items. Nobody HAS to use what is recommended, so I'm thinking that you could substitute it with anything depending on the amount of stability you're after. A good alternative to fusible products, is to use a spray adhesive, or even double sided tape to keep things in place. I do this when I create patches. Glue sticks are great too..... Back to substitutes. You could use towlling or blanketing for soft waddings, denim for something a bit firmer, and then even a combination of products. Old coats or quilted gowns would be great too😀
