  • This video shows how I repaired a crack in a concrete slab in our patio. I used some Quikrete crack sealant from Home Depot to fill the cracks. I let it harden for a few days and then sanded it down with my Rigid multi-tool and some diamond grit sandpaper.

I've used this product on several 1/8 inch patio cracks. Product is slow in seeping down into cracks. Many voids discovered the next day. Color is too gray. Use Quickrete Mortar instead. Make sure to get bonding surface very wet. After application add more water on top and squeegee at 45 degree angles (cross-hatch), then go back and sand or power-wash excess from sides. For cracks larger than 1/4 inch wide - use Quickrete Concrete, or at least a blend of Concrete with Mortar. This will give you a better fill, and the color will be much closer.

Incredibly help! Thanks; I know it was time consuming to photograph and show prices of all the items you used individually, but that is very helpful! (even with links!) Appreciate your time and effort to show others and me how to do this kind of project and how much we can expect to spend to get it done. Again thanks, also love the humor :-)

Great video! I'm currently looking to address some surface cracks in a brand new concrete slab and I found this.
Just an FYI to everyone, Rigid tools (like the multitool this gentleman uses) are the best money can buy. You'll pay the price of some cheaper brands, but get better engineering than overpriced DeWalt. They also have a good, old-fashioned lifetime warranty like all old Porter Cable/DeWalt/Makita tools used to have before going cheap overseas.
Thanks for your video! I'll probably go this route myself!

That patio would be perfect for a stencil. Check out Royal Stencils. I have a 6 or 8 foot hairline crack leading up to my front door. My house is now 1 year old & this crack is not covered in my 1 year warranty repair items which are being fixed these past 2 weeks. I plan on filling in my crack & then stenciling what looks like an 8 foot carpet runner leading up to my front door. It will probably be a cement colored background with white stars for my stencil. Royal Stencils sells the paint, the stenciling brushes, hundreds of different stencil designs, etc. I may also stencil one of my bathrooms instead of wallpaper.

After you repaired the crack, you said you were going to put down a sealer. Did you do that and how did the color look? I have a few cracks on a new, large, 1200 square feet patio. They are thin, 1/32 of an inch, but I would like to fill them than put a wet look sealer. My only question is will that make the cracks more noticeable or less? Thanks!

I don't like those crack sealers. They are too thick to get in small cracks. Everyone is doing the same thing. I can't find a video that will teach me a different method. My dad tried that and it only sealed on the surface. One year later, it is all gone. I already saw that from the beginning. They will sell whatever people buy.
