In a condominium you would pay taxes separately or lumped in with your mortgage if you have one. Im just assuming Barbara lives in a coop because most of those buildings in the area she lives in are very exclusive coops. And because she called it maintenance. In a condo its usually referred to as common charges. Ive lived in NYC coops and condos and Im in the real estate business so its just part of my life too.

As a contractor, I've met a lot of very successful people, and many of them ARE genuinely kind, enthusiastic, and positive people - even when they have nothing to gain from it. Especially the older ones who feel like they already have enough. I suspect Barbara is in this category. She seems like she's just trying to enjoy existence at this point - not frantically trying to climb the ladder of success. The "successful" people I've met who were jerks couldn't hide it very well. There was always something a little "off" with them. I'm not saying someone like Barbara doesn't have another side to her - you can't become and stay successful without a hard edge somewhere. I just think she's probably an overall nice person if you're nice to her. I met princess Diana when I was young and she was very kind although I was an absolute nobody. @Daniel Garrett I'm inclined to disagree, sort of. As a contractor, I've met a lot of very successful people, and many of them ARE genuinely kind, enthusiastic, and positive people - even when they have nothing to gain from it. Especially the older ones who feel like they already have enough. I suspect Barbara is in this category. She seems like she's just trying to enjoy existence at this point - not frantically trying to climb the ladder of success. The "successful" people I've met who were jerks couldn't hide it very well. There was always something a little "off" with them. I'm not saying someone like Barbara doesn't have another side to her - you can't become and stay successful without a hard edge somewhere. I just think she's probably an overall nice person if you're nice to her. I met princess Diana when I was young and she was very kind although I was an absolute nobody. I know Diana wasn't exactly in this same category, but she was kind of wealthy. You don't really have to be a nasty person to have some nice things. Oh yeah - I do agree that there's no way this was completely random. The very beginning may have been sort of random - but in the time between that and the "tour" the maid staff definitely had at least couple of hours to tidy up. Guaranteed.
