Interestingly I always wake up a few minutes before my alarm and I don't drink coffee or any of that; even if I go to bed a bit too late and I know I didn't get enough sleep.
However, it takes me an average of a solid hour to fall asleep. Even when I go to bed exhausted, it's at least thirty minutes, and I can count on one finger the amount of nights it took fewer than twenty minutes.

Me too. I have narcolepsy, which is a sleep disorder categorized by excessive daytime sleepiness. I can get anywhere from 7 to 12 hours of sleep and off my meds, I am still extremely tired.

i recently finished secondary school about 3-4 weeks ago or something like that and my sleep pattern was fairly decent when i went to school i was definitely a little bit short on sleep by about an hour or 2 every night but i was still getting 6-7 hours sleep and i felt okay i left school and because i no longer had to get up my sleep pattern just died last night i feel asleep at 11pm i had pulled an all nighter the night before and hasdnt slept in over 40 hours i then woke up at 5am you dont understand how thankful i am that i fell asleep again i was actually dying inside
if not being sleep deprived means going back to laying in bed for 45min to an hour then i dont think i want to fix this...

@Jessica Sutcliffe No, American schools start at 9:05 (at least to every school I've herd of) but buses arrive at 6:30 - 7:30 for most ppl which goes against science. What's worst is (from what I know) Elementary school kids have to wake up earliest as their bus comes first in the rounds, which goes horribly wrong... again goes against science as younger kids need more of a 10 hour sleep rather than 8.

I’m a chronic insomniac. I have been my whole life. It got so bad during college that I developed epilepsy. Now I take medicine every day to control my seizures and another every night to help me sleep. Yes it’s melatonin, but my neurologist approved, and it’s been working for over a year

How to know if you're sleep-deprived:
1). Check closet for presence of lab coat.
2). Check desk for course material related to biology/chemistry/physics/engineering/medicine.
If either is present, you're sleep-deprived.

Joke's aside, please try to get sufficient sleep so you don't experience these blackouts. My father's friend was exhausted while driving home and unfortunately died in a fatal car accident and it's theorized that he was experiencing blackouts from a lack of sleep. He was also recently engaged to his girlfriend and had many plans for the future. Sleep is so important, so please do your best to get enough of it by doing things such as setting up a healthy sleep schedule and not going on electronics before bed.

This is only my experience but i usually sleep better after drowning myself in CZcams videos. I watch shower thoughts and oversimplified before i go to bed and before i even know it I'm already asleep. I'm an early bird also so i sleep around 9-10pm and wake up at 6am.

I keep a sleep schedule next to my bed. I write when i get in my bedroom when I fall asleep. If I wake up in the night and when. When I wake up for good. And when I leave my room. Last night i went to bed at 12:48 am and woke up at 6:58 am.❤

I feel bad for people who actually take hours to fall asleep. this may sound cliché but maybe trying turning off all your devices an hour or 30 mins before you sleep, prepare to go to bed (like brushing ur teeth), and turn off all your lights then try to sleep. It worked for me a lot of times. or try just not to think of anything when trying to sleep. I don't know, or if it's really a big problem in your life, talk to your doctor about it, it could be more serious
