I am from Assam and we need a separate time zone. In summer Sun rises at 4 AM but offices and schools start at 9 AM. A huge time in the morning is wasted. Also in winter it becomes night before 5 PM. So we have to save our daylight and properly utilise it. So A new time zone of 1 hour advanced time should be given to us.

@@tridipkumarbag7970 I was in assam in winter for my best friend wedding, I live in Mumbai (west). And I felt everybody is so good, they sleep early and what I saw that it felt like night at 6:30 pm. The difference wasnt that high, but yes difference exist. Also India is the best democracy. Coz we all can out forward our points, leaders and policy. If you dont like something, you can elect yourself and change it.
Though timezones should be done, thats not an issue.

This problem can be solved by a simple logic ...
Government should issue a special notification about office hour for north east i.e 09hrs to 5hrs.
Central region 10hrs to 6hrs..
And for western region such as Gujarat Rajasthan 11hrs to 7hrs..

मैं इस मामले में वर्तमान सिस्टम से काफी संतुष्ट हूँ। मैं कई बार देखता हूँ कि लोग 24-Hour format ही नही समझ पाते हैं रेलवे स्टेशन्स पर और फिर ये तो उनके लिए कयामत हो जाएगा।
हालांकि अमेरिका, फ्रांस जो भी कर रहे हैं वो ठीक है परंतु हमारी साक्षरता दर ही 75% है, उसमें भी आप समझ सकते हैं कि वो कैसे साक्षर हैं।
हम सिस्टम को एफीसीएन्ट बनाने के लिए उत्तर-पूर्वी राज्यों की स्कूल-ऑफिस टाइमिंग को घटाकर 9 से 8 या 8 से 7 कर सकते हैं।
बिलकुल सही बात कही आपने। और वैसे भी समय का अंतर सिर्फ एक घंटे का है। क्योंकि मानक समय रेखा देश ते बीचोंबीच जाती है।

@@surfing68hd भाई उत्तर-पूर्वी राज्यों की दिक्कत ये है कि उनके लिए सूरज पहले निकलता और छिपता है। जबकि घड़ी में समय पीछे चलता है। जब यूपी के मिर्ज़ापुर में सुबह स्कूल-ऑफिस का समय होता है उस वक़्त उत्तर-पूर्व में सूरज तेज चमक रहा होता है और समय क़रीब आधा से एक घंटा पीछे चल रहा होता है।
भाई अगर वो पहले ड्यूटी पर आएंगे तो छुट्टी भी तो पहले ही होगी और कलीग्स को भी उसी वक़्त पर आना पड़ेगा तो नाइंसाफी कैसे होगी।
और इसका उल्टा राजस्थान-गुजरात-महाराष्ट्र के लिए किया जा सकता है। हालांकि 1 घंटे का फर्क तब बनता है जब आप बॉर्डर पर हों। अन्यथा आधा-पौना घंटे का अंतर हम सब जी रहे हैं और ऐसी कोई दिक्कत नही है।

अमेरिका, रूस, कनाडा जेसे देशों में तो कोई दिक्कत नहीं।
हमें टाइम जोन बदलने की जरूरत नहीं है। सरकार सिर्फ देश के पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों में स्थित कार्यालयों के खुलने एवं बंद होने के समय को दो घंटा पहले कर दे।

In my perspective we should go for two time zones .
Firstly , because as per the national unity it will make North Eastern states to feel the part of nation where theirs interests are also listened to and preferred .
Secondly , environment perspective we already saw the latest report about warning regarding the fast increase in temp.and it's consequences. It will help India's environment in my ways.
Thirdly , why are we afraid of confusion with two time zones. We aren't less of USA ,Russia .....etc . If they can follow up several time zones why can't we. Somehow it is gonna to help in country's economy as well. We are Indians , we can do anything.
Fourthly , it's always beneficial to go with the research and it's recommendations . If CSIR is suggesting for two time zones after deep research then it's going to be right in my perspective.
Fifthly , We are already facing problem of feeling of alienation of South India due to many reasons. We shouldn't take risk in case of North Eastern too . And North Eastern is already facing many other problems.
Let's stand for people of North Eastern states and India.
I feel sad for many people in the comment section who support current time zone. Even after you have explained the factual benefits of different time zones people still want to stick to the current system. I think people in our country are hesitant of change. This thinking needs to be changed.

When India got its independence. The question of multiple time zones was an issue. Many argued that it would create confusion as large number of Indians were illiterate.

Fast forward 2018: literacy rate ~74% (Census 2011) now may be above 80% and with substantial penetration of Internet and Mobile services, I don't think it would create any major issue. Infact it would help us to use daylight optimally. Initially it may create some issues. but our adminstration is capable enough to take this challenge, mere willingness might help.

Well, I do have a completely different viewpoint about this topic. Instead of changing time zones and creating a new one, we can just change our working hours according to the place and according to our convenience. Creating a new time zone will create huge problems and confusions. If we create a new time zone, people belonging to the two seperate time zones will start to lack coordination, which in turn will have a huge destructive effect in our overall economy. India, as a developing country is already facing many problems, and according to me is not ready yet for a new one! I hope you'll understand my point.
I am from Arunachal Pradesh and it's 5.33 pm and its completely dark by now. I hope there are still sun in Delhi and other western parts of India.
People working have to come back home in 5pm and it's already dark during winter. And by 10 am in here feels like mid day during summer....

We Need IST to be GMT+6 atleast because During peak summer-time in Calcutta, the sunrises at 4:45AM, and during peak winter-time sunsets at 4:45PM.
Therefore, shifting the timezone for 30 minutes will be helpful for us and for the north-easterns too.

सर हम 2 time zone नहीं चुन सकते क्योंकि हमारी जनसंख्या अब भी शिक्षित नहीं है। अमरीका जैसे अधिकांश विकसित देश शिक्षित और जागरूक हैं, इसलिए कोई problem देखने को नहीं मिलती।
10-15 साल लगेगे अभी भी भारत को 2 time zone चुनने मे। केवल हम स्कूलों, कालेजो , सरकारी और निजी विभागों के timing change कर सकते हैं।

Working with US customers I can see the difficulty they are having with multiple timezones.
Best way to tackle that can be 1. Ask certrain region to star early/ late. For example start offices in NE to 1 hr early in West 30 min late or 2. Shift the overall timezone by 30 min for India. ie GMT + 6 Hrs

Despite changing timezone change accordingly your working time..Changing working time is possible state to state but changing timezone isn't a easy task.

मैं एक ही मानक समय का पक्षधर हूँ...जो वर्तमान में 82.5 मानक समय रेखा है वही रहनी चाहिए मैं अपने पड़ोसी अर्थात चीन की नीति का समर्थक हूँ...भारत पूर्व में अरुणाचल से लेकर पश्चिम में गुजरात तक 30 देशांतर रेखाए हैं...1 देशान्तर चलने में 4 मिनट तो 30×4=120 मिनट अर्थात 2 घण्टे की दूरी है पूर्व से पश्चिम तक....चीन में लगभग 60 देशान्तर रेखाएँ गुजरती है अर्थात पूर्व पश्चिम में 4 घण्टे का अंतर...चीन को हम से अधिक समस्या है पर वो अपनी इस समस्या से लड़ते हुए बिना मानक समय बदले विकास की दौड़ में आगे हैं...!!!
*यदि एक मानक समय से कुछ अधिक समस्या हो रही है तो कार्य के घण्टो में बदलाव किया जाना चाहिए न कि मानक समय में..!!!*

How would it feel if sun rises at 4am.....this is what happens in northeast in summers.... Whereas in west in my place i.e. in himachal pradesh it rises at 6am in summers. 2 hour difference is a huge difference. People in assam cannot enjoy the pleasant morning time due to this time system, which has biological impacts also. So brother please think with this logic. To compete with China we need not to follow China. China do this because they are of communist thinking but India is not. We are the country which had achieved remarkable scientific endeavors from ages so we should support logical thinking.

National unity time system is better because in country like india people are not as skilled literate as in US and Uk . In rural areas the condition to make them understand will be even worse. If the problem is just about doing work then logically saying , if you call the arunachal pradesh people to start work at 6 A.m then there is no problem to call upon gujaratis do the same work at 5 A.m . Practically chinese are smart because they also use this standard time for emergency because you have to take sudden decisions ,your command should be very appropriate to the regions where the emergency exists and that can consume time to calculate whether what time they would meet the danger. One more thing is that if gmt reaches 6:30 hours back to isl of arunachal then the condition will even worse....right now if arunachal is having morning at 4:am then at that time it will be having this at 3 a.m . Let the timings same in india , it is not any issue .

Do time zone ki zaroorat nahi..first time I am not agreeing with Prashant sir..coz..1.northeast air Gujarat mein bahut zyada longitudinal degree ka difference nahi hai..we can adjust 1-1.30 hrs difference of time..2. Russia,USA ,France are developed countries...people are learned but in India people are not that learned..they might find it difficult to adjust..solution..we can change the office time in different parts of country ..ex - 8 am - 5 pm for northeast n 10 am- 7pm for western states

Changing office time is best solution, we don’t need more issues in life. We had early school classes in summer but regular hours in winter. I lived in Uk and currently living in Australia. I never had any benefit or lose. Changing office timing is the best solution. Unity must be intact. India is already divided in so many fronts. We don’t need more issues.
I don't think we need two time zones just ...we need to forward our clocks by 30mins to GMT + 6:00hrs... Instead of the 5:30hrs
sir I you read all the comments on this video you eventually realized that people don't want different time zone.instead of different time zones you can adjust there office are according to the sunlight they received.
also think ones if a soldier on his duty is on arunachal Pradesh China border said her wife I will call you at 9pm at night in a message would eventually called her on 11 pm if her wife is lives in Gujarat so she become nervous due to this delay and it really create such confusions in such other Cases.
