During Summer In Northeast region, it gets dawn by 3:40 a.m and Sun rises by 4a.m.. Sun sets by 5p.m and gets totally dark by 6:15p.m... We seriously need a two time zone in India..
Yes, I have been telling this since long that timezone should change in Northeast India. Here is the early Sunrise and early Sunset. Because of following the same standard time, it become so difficult to maintain in our Northeast.
Like no need it's called IST.Indian Standard time is based on Mathura for a reason.No need for a Seperate time when you guys consider ourselves seperate lol

Yes it's true. I work in tea industry over here in Assam. We have our own set of time following which seperates the rest of India. This system was introduced by the Britishers for the tea gardeners. Purely beause out here the sun sets pretty soon and you can't pluck tea leaves when it gets dark. They come in early for work and get home early, results in saving a lot of daytime hours.

I agree, they should be 1 hour ahead of India.
Instead of confusing our already confused citizens with a different time zones, the simple and most easy solution will be changing our worktime, school hours etc accordingly with sunrise and sunset. If a bank, company or school starts working from 9 AM to 6 PM in Gujarat just start it from 8 AM to 5 PM in Arunachal.
Correct it is better to change time rather than creating other timezone, from West bangal to NE we should follow 2 hr earlier system

Creating a new timezone in India will create more problems than solutions. I've seen this first hand in my professional experience. It is better to simply have different work timings in those regions, but stay in the same timezone as many others have pointed out.
