Big Bear Lake before and after a 15-foot increase in water depth thanks to winter storms

- After hitting record lows two years ago due to drought, Big Bear Lake reported a 10-foot increase in its water level in December 2023 and new data shows it’s risen even higher the first four months of 2024.
In December 2022, the water level at Big Bear Lake was just below 55 feet, officials said. Two consecutive winters brought heavy storms in early 2023 and 2024, resulting in significant rainfall and snowpack that have helped restore the lake after water levels hit a record low in late 2022. The transformation is mind boggling! Just goes to show how nature can heal herself in spectacular ways!
This won’t last. We just had an El Niño event so expect less rain in the future
And then after that expect this again. Everything is cyclical. Don’t buy into the media hype. Big bear and all other lakes have dealt with this type of back and forth forever.
I’ve owned property for over 20 years and they’re dry spell, but it always recover don’t mess with mother nature! Fake news!

It’ll be back to what it was at the end of this summer and our winter won’t be as cold this year. We got a lot of snow this year because ice bergs that were fine before are now melting at a record pace
