    Nothing more exciting than to dig into a worm bin and find cocoons. They look great.

      Finding cocoons always gives me validation that everything is A OK in the worm bin 🙂and even after a month, everything is OK 👌

    3 cocoons in one close up!!! Great job! So you took them away from their babies and they made more babies and got fat all while you ignored them, sounds like some independent worms there🪱🪱🪱Great update and fancy shmancy DIY covering!

      When I looked back at the close up it was actually 4 cocoons! I have no idea how I missed that fourth one when editing 🤔 hmmmm, maybe they don't need their mama anymore if their so independent ?? 😆 I THINK NOT!! No way would I allow that 😊

      @@deewormsvermicomposting I saw 4 cocoons too! Those are some fat, looong worms and the cocoons look pretty big too! I’m glad you gave them a shower, it was looking dry, but that doesn’t seem to bother Euros so much. If it gets too damp in my bin they seem to smell, which I think they can smell more than RW! Lol

      @@marlenen6130 it was time for a shower and the plastic covering to go on. The heater is definitely drying things up fast. Hmmm 🤔, interesting in regards to the smell part. I have yet to smell anything, so I can't share or add anything to that.

    It’s amazing how large you’ve been able to keep your ENCs. Seems like most of the worm folks on CZcams experience them shrinking over time.

      @deewormsvermicomposting  Před 2 lety +4

      Honestly, I'm as amazed as you! They must have some good genes because mama isn't doing anything different with them, hehe 🙂 or maybe the switch over to the new bin with just adults spruced them up quite a bit!

      @@chuffedleupagus I just might have to keep switching over the adults to fresh new bedding every few months and test out that theory. But then I'll have to many baby ENC bins then I can handle. Unless, I somehow combine all the baby ENCs into one! Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud :)

    We must have similar eating habits lol. Eight days ago I added an entire head of lettuce to my urban worm bag. It was the first feeding after they ate the 15 lb pumpkin. I went in after 5 days to take a video showing the "worm ball" around the lettuce, and all that was left was about a 1 in circle of it 😲! They devoured the entire head of lettuce in 5 days. I need to remind myself how many worms are actually in that bin and how much they are eating. Based on the pumpkin experiment, the urban worm bag consumes about 1.5 to 2 lbs of food a day which is on target with the population. Like yours, my lettuce had a couple leaves taken off it and then it went unused. Our worms are very lucky for our food mistakes 😀👍. Those worms look fat, happy, healthy. The material looks awesome.

      @deewormsvermicomposting  Před 2 lety +1

      Are you secretly watching me and buying the same groceries 🤔 ? Hehe 😉
      Worms can eat more than we think :) plus lettuce has a high water content, so it's not a surprise that in 5 days there was only a little bit left. I don't expect the lettuce to stick around for long. But at least it will release much needed moisture into the bin 🙂

      @@deewormsvermicomposting Well now wait a minute, I did mine 9 days ago now so I think you're watching me 🤔❤️😂. Or is it possible the worms have become so intelligent they're sending us subliminal messages of what they want to eat 😲❤️

    I've raised a lot of Euros, and I don't think mine have ever gotten that big. I guess the secret is to stop taking them on daily walks and such, and just let them do their thing.
