Best thing I did when I started my garden 4 years ago was also starting a worm bin. It is so awesome to be able to grab a 5 gallon bucket of worm castings at any time of the year.
I usually top dress before a heavy rain, which we have had only 1 since mid May, terrible drought in my part of WI.
Have been giving away a bunch of everbearing raspberry plants, I rinse off all the soil (because of the jumping worms) in a sun warmed worm casting extract. So far, everyone has said the berries are doing well, I think that extra step is key.
    Enjoy your videos! Stay Well!!!

Thank you. Yeah we are through the drought here in Illinois but now we have the mold from all the rain. That and the smoke from Canada which I swear is making my tomatoes ripen slower. Or maybe I'm just more impatient than usual. Lol 👍🏼😁🪱

@@PlantObsessed My tomatoes are way behind also. But I think it is because when I filled my raised beds, I used some crap that had no soil in it, so called raised bed mix at a premium price. I know this because under he microscope I have nothing but organic material and microbes.
So now I am amending my tomato bed with dirt, lol. Give the microbes something to work on.

I started with a handful of red wigglers in a bucket that a friend's son gave me around this time last year, and just from that I'm up to a 3 bin stack of rubbermaid tubs full of worms, and that's after giving a bunch away to other people. I think that's smart. Put it in solution- dilute it. plants need a little bit, not bucko much. You can add Alaska fish emulsion, masalas, bubble it with paint strainer bag from Menards, 24 hours at 70 F. The temp is important for micro flora (good bacteria) You're on your way!!!!

@plant obsessed, this would be a diy tier system. My practice bin seems to lean towards the dryer side, so I'm wondering if just a single level system would work...I could just do two of them, maybe. I'm in the Kansas City MO area, can't keep the little buggers outside, but I don't have a basement either. They'd have to try and survive in the enclosed garage... On a plant heat mat if anything else.
