It never ceases to amaze me how British and American reporters fail to grasp the fact that you have to try and keep it simple and not use words and expressions foreign fighters whose mother tongue is not English won't understand. You have to be conscious of that when interviewing them or they end up not understanding the question. Beterbiev's English is pretty good but there are many words and expressions foreigners will have difficulty understanding.
And stop asking him about the Callum Johnson KD FFS
And the dialect...ffs. how ignorant can they be....blows my mind.
They are not sensitive to the linguistic vulnerabilities of foreign fighters because they may assume that everyone is supposed to speak fluent English.

He's probably on Cloud 9, as an undefeated boxer, who has official status to live in a western developed country, away from the crap he would have to put up with right now in Russia. @@sherifnabil50 Dagestan is a geographic region where several different tribes live, Chechen is an ethnic group of people that lives mostly inside the geographical region of Dagestan. Very much looking forward to the fight! =)

@@simonfrayberg3064 Chechens are one mono-ethnicity in one ethno-national state. Daghestanis are many tens of different ethnicities with different languages in one state. Both have been invaded and occupied by russia. The town Artur was born in called khasavyurt is currently placed in Dagestan. But that town is historically ancestral chechen land that still has a large chechen population. When russia occupied the caucasus they redrew state borders and placed the town and others along with it into the dagestani side of the border.
@@sherifnabil50 Chechens and Dagestanis are different people ethnically, culturally and language wise. The only thing that they have in common is religion and both are occupied by russia. The only time they were united was in the 1800s when they united against Imperial Russian invasions. For you it may be splitting hairs and small distinctions but for someone from that region its a big difference. Its like someone from bangladesh thinking that British and Ireland are the same because they are allies, both speak english and are christian. They would then think you are splitting hairs if you objected to them. But in reality you are not splitting hairs.

Language proficiency depends with exposure. My kids can fluently speak 5 languages whilst I can barely speak 2

Ha, Artur is Mr. Implacable... and no interviewer can bend his will. Should he be successful this weekend, and I think he will, I can't wait for a unification bout with Bivol. I got that 50/50 and one of the best matchups that can be made right now in the sport.

Arturs Wikipedia page previously stated he was born in Chechnya. I was the one who corrected it to Dagestan. He doesn't seem to be too proud of the fact 🙂

Beterbiev had to wait a long time for his title shot, that's why he's still has the motivation in his late 30's. He's got a chip on his shoulder about recognition and earning money as a champion, like Bernard Hopkins.
