Potato: "This is how you play the game."
Spiff: "This is how you PLAY the game."
The Spiffing Brit man........... he knows how to break the game
Spiff did a great job exploiting this game, it shows the extent a man can cheeze the game if using a more well rounded fleet gets hairy.
Honeworld is one of those games where the videogame Manual was part of the videogaming experience, just because of how the lore was presented as this rich archaeological history lesson setting the backdrop of the entire game.
Claw Marks 😘
X-wing was like that. There was a legitimate novel in its manual
yeah honeywomb is the best taste ever
Homeworld 1's manual is the coolest gaming manual ever.. I don't remember manuals for 2 or Deserts of Kharak or Cataclysm
The radio chatter creates such awesome atmosphere! I am loving that detail in this game.
aw man just thinking about those amazing cutscenes in HW1 gives me goosebumps
Appreciate you marking this #ad! The clarity did not deter me from watching
I hope at some point they'll consider adding a Battlefront 2 style galactic conquest like mode.
I remember playing the demo for the first one on a pc gamer disc and thinking it was amazing.
I miss playing Cataclysm. The Beast was such a great idea both fighting against and as them. That was the closest to a RTS horror game as one could get.
The ending bro i literally almost died from hsppiness when i saw the ending credits and heard that YES-HOMEWORLD song
lets gooo basically all my fav youtubers have released hw3 gameplay now
I remember back in Homeworld 2 Multiplayer, I knew the exact number of seconds or minutes it took to build each set of ships, or ship.
like 7.5 seconds for a resource collector, 15 seconds for a bomber unit etc... I was so versed in that game. I hope this one grabs me like the old one did.
Having a great lobby to join games with strangers and join clans etc.. that will decide it for me.
I learned all the times and build strats from my clan once I proved my way into the clan.
BUKAWK! Chiken Confederation!
Small attack craft go in delta, heavy frigates and such wall, defense is sphere. I love homeworld. So happy its back. You can pause and still give commands.
Did they finally fix/get back to formations? One of the best parts of HW1.
Man, this looks like a great mode, and I appreciate the early preview. I 'backed' this game on Fig what feels like a decade ago so I'm really excited that it's finally coming out!
wow, it's like if Eve was actually fun - just imagine how badass it's going to be in like 2-3 years when we can control everything with voice comms, like "support frigates, form up on A leader in evasive and take out those incoming intercepters!"
Also getting serious Ender's Games flashbacks. Absolutely buying this game immediately :)
Eve is fun, it just gets old after a while. assuming you can get past the learning curve....
Much more normal approach than a certain Yorkshire tea enthusiast
We need a series on this
It's cool and I'd love to see more of this from you.
This together with Stellaris+ planetal warfare would by my ideal space game
Oh man, Stellaris with Homeworld real time battles. hhhnnnnggg
I am so stoked for this, I pledge basically day 1 and finally seeing the game in action is amazing. Thanks Potato, Thanks Blackbird and Gearbox.
I might not be all that interested in the game, but not being here to hear potato's voice? Impossible
Actually false, i like the game im just bad at depth perception and thus get confused and angry
Heyyyyyyy
Very excited about Homeworld 3! Thank you for the video.
I love Homeworld so much and im sooooo freaking excited for this to release
This actually looks similar to commander co op missions in starcraft 2. Even if you dont keep everything, doing missions level up your commander to gain abilities. Its always good to see that rts is trying to evolve with more gameplay modes other than story and pvp only.
finally, persistent fleets in a a mini campaign type skirmish mode, ive been waiting for something like this since the first homeworld
Oh Oh, Save Save Save. The sound is great.
This makes me want to see potato play starsector
Glad to see Homeworld making a return. I just wish they would do a timebar a la Total War.
You had one job jimmy! Stick the big blue hyperspace square in front of the carrier and you missed chopping the wing off!
I’m jealous and I want to play it already idc if it’s just the one game mode
Do you make Potato whiskey and where can I buy some of that rotgut?
I think if you use the dock command on your strike craft the carrier will repair them auto, at least thats the way it worked on Homeworld 2
in the first one also!
Looks fantastic, I see alot of rought around the edges issues, such as the bounce party at 21:49 and things such as support corvettes not trying to heal clearly damanaged and nearby ships (or atleast the option to do it, I know it costs income)
I just feel there needs to be a bit more streamlining or rather expanding out the ui to be more dense that can help the player.
The Progenitors Species could have attend Class 2 or 2.5 level of technological progress in order to build such massive structures and possibly Megastructures to Gigastructures in sized that still hasn't been found yet considering how massive our Galaxy is.
Then there's always a possibility that when they arrive in the Milky Way Galaxy it hasn't been long since they have settled-in before leaving or chased out by a more powerful and hyper advance species with a Class 3 to 4 level in Technological Progress.
If it works anything like older games support frigates could be assigned to guard duty to certain groups which made them automatically follow and heal units. While interceptors are cheap and kinda fragile you don't want them to constantly die. The cost adds up and it becomes huge resource dump that could otherwise be spent elsewhere.
Homeworld 3 became a true 3D game. It was before, of course, but now the scenario plays a big role. Position matters. Objects and debris changes the strategy of how the game will be played.
Yep, this is the true Homeworld 3 that I was waiting for nine years.
bro just throws his carrier into the middle of things, good to see the game is capable of punishing such oversights harshly
I feel like this would look amazing in VR
Nostalgia :D I hope it's as good as the old ones.
If you want a hint as soon as your ships start to take damage redock them and repair them quick so you dont lose squadrons....
It will change the genre....again. One of the best games of all time.
childhood restored ,yes please ,my first pc game ever , i waited so long...
Planetary Anihalation's campaign was already like this.
Great video as always!!
25:27 It's a shooting Star 😅
Homeworld is one of the game series that is a bellwether of my childhood. Along with Civ and WoW (RTS) please, please, please tell me HW is good!
You really need to make use of the Focus on Selected key instead of manually moving the camera around so much. Unless it's not in the game anymore. It'll get you to the fight faster than manually panning, then rotating the camera to search.
WOW THIS LOOKS SICK
This is quickly becomeing the best space combat game out there. reminds me almost of EVE in some senses.
When you move your units in 3D space, how does the game determine where in space you clicked as their destination? How does it determine the "depth" of the click, so to speak?
To really "get it" you should play it, but what I can say is it uses your current "plane" as starting point and then you can move "up/down". So it's like a cilindrical coordinate system.
PotatoMcwhiskey + spiffingbrit + ??? For a three man run of this game mode maybe?
Such a beautiful looking game and the sound is amazing, not sure I like the built up areas, quite like the openness of space with a planet in the back ground but I am sure all maps aren't like this.
is there anywhere a demo to try it out
Is homeworld 3 available to play to some extent for backers from the time it was on Fig? Such as a beta, early access, or otherwise?
Arm chair general here :) as it is easy to comment from the side.
Homeworld never did a good job of pinpointing exactly the advantages and disadvantages of ships (e.g Starcraft 1 vs Stracraft 2 damage type where in SC1 you need to read the wiki to know why your unit is doing less damage vs others Compared to SC2 where it says 10 dmg + 10 vs light etc) , but in broad sense they are in the description of the ships. Good vs , weak vs.
You won the battles but if I have the bellow 2 scenarios: you with the same skill and micro using the correct ships vs what you did in this play through would have been a total difference.
hope this makes sense. waiting for more HW 3.
i get it that mining was essential part of Homeworld but i see that for roguelike it would be better to just have bounty on enemy ships and payment from command then mining yourself OR like occasional opportunity on some maps.
Protecting logistics was always a key point of Homeworld. Removing that removes a big part of the experience and a lot of the tactical/strategic elements that made the earlier games interesting and fun.
So the only reason/difference to make it rogue like is the selection of cards at the end of the mission?
No, it is the roll on missions more.
It looks like this is like the campaign, where you jump once the battles are complete, to the next battle on a different map.
This is unique to RTS gaming, where only the main campaigns were roll on missions.
All other modes were one standalone game, then return to the load screen to set up the next game manually, which is basically skirmish, where you play on one map each time you wanted to play more.
you gotta have buddies to say hello to in the first place
idk if you are aware of this but you sound very much like the main voice over for cinema sins but also like eckharts ladder
Construct, recruit, same thing.
Karak is burning.
Did you think that AI is able to use abilities (like the old scout EMP)?
scifi RTS homeworld universe roguelike??! SWEEET
This seems alot like the persistent campaign in Gates of Hell.
man, the lack of close ships views while they are fighting is a problem
That is a thing. That's what this game is about. Maybe he didn't do it much here.
not sure if its because i am a homeworld 1 veteran or not, but your unit control is a bit frantic and you need to use your control groups to better effect. you lost so many fighters, bombers and corvettes attacking things they shouldnt have and you had your frigates sitting doing nothing while obstructed. you need to micro the frigates more to take on the priority targets while the small craft mop up the area. you were doing it backwards by microing the small craft and letting the frigates mostly do whatever. as you said the combat isnt super fast so you can switch between groups to refresh orders and make sure you are taking down the big threats first. and you really need to use the support frigates and docking orders more often, sending low HP units into a fight really takes away your combat power as they die before they can do damage, it makes it too much like a fair fight.
The game was legend before hope was high for this 1, graphic are good...lets gooo
WHEN IS THIS GAME OCMING OUT!?!!!1111
This game looks remarkably hard to control.
Nah with mouse keyboard homeworld controls always looked difficult but controls were very intuitive.
How can we also play this mode NOW?
36:34 😆
You shoot at something and you hit it... You do damage.
You don't shoot at something, you don't hit it... You don't do damage.
IT'S SIMPLE GUYS!
I wonder if voice control would be a nice feature.
I love homeworld ❤. Only thing that I’m seeing on here that I don’t like is the single unit build :( is same has HW1 but I like squadrons groups like HW2 where u build multiple small fighters at once not just waiting 1 by 1.
I think so.
Hurry, Take my Money Please!!!!
😍
Wargames needs fixing and balancing for solo players before it'll change anything. You got the easy map wait until you get the other ones where you get 9 destroyers spam you before you have time to even do first objective
Remember, use your mother-ship or carrier to dock the fighters and repair them !
Don't play the HW as potato-man, he don't think logically!
Every small unit that you can save is the main point of this game. if you carelessly spending your resources little by little, you'll loose.
Less talk , more thinking.
hi
26:14 ok its not that impressive (the art is good) but it seems to not be simulating the hits in the art, its just a damage to the mask system, NOT saying they did a bad job and maybe I am dumb, anbd missing it, but it the previous game had a similar thing.
So basically the missions play exactly like Homeworld 1. Thigns must be revolutionary when you dont know anytrhing about old games
Need to learn the controls. I had to stop watching due to my lack of patience. If HW3 is like HW2... select your support frigates, hit Y to activate repair, then drag a box around all the units you want it to repair. You don't have to repair each one with individual clicks. It was maddening watching that, lol. Also, send your fighters to dock with the carrier often to get them full repaired up quickly.
Sorry for telling, but you should get familiar with the basics of controls
Homeworld 3 really moved back to collision-based weapons instead of the disappointing chance-based system of Homeworld 2?
baldures gate 3 space rts version maybe?
not a fan of the hyperspace VFX ..it needs to change ..Look its a SQUARE
This did not age well.
The game is pretty but what matters most here is storytelling and design/feeling of being in endless space…. This is good but feels a bit too “arcade” at first sight
I mean, unless I'm misunderstanding something he is playing the non-story mode game mode here. I'd expect there to also be a real, fully-fledged story campaign mode too. This game mode I'd image exists to offer more replayability after you're done with the story campaign.
There's always at least one comment made by someone who clearly has not been paying attention at all.
@@marcusweathers3070 my comment was a bit too short and probably got misunderstood. I am not commenting the game mode. What i mean to say is that HW2 had a graphic design and and ambience feeling to all its missions (even in multiplayer) that really made the player feel "lost in the void emptiness amongst stars". What I meant to say is that the graphic design here seems a bit "arcadish". might be the colors, I don't know. Just a "skin feeling". hope this makes it clearer.
so an ion canon frigate demolishing fighters... the mechanic seems broken.
Why so much clutter on screen
this didnt age well..
Man this looks cool but you need a pop filter, there is so much mouth and nose noise in this its unwatchable
So ugly explosions on death. Overall level of effects are so low... I dont get it why
This game looks unbelievably boring
Boring.
A space game, the actions of which do not take place in space! It's a pity that the that game is being created by illiterate people, who have sand on the megalith plates in space (16:33) or who have wind blows in space, lol! (19:55) or who have full static space icebergs (czcams.com/video/lmQ56YpYaAA/video.html ), which look like it's earth's copies, created by the earth's gravity.
The space, in which every object or megalith is totally static (3:05), looks just stupid in the eyes of a normal person:(
The game is simply replete with nonsense, which there is no desire to list. I expected a more serious approach from this game.
this game will be amazing, im so glad they pushed back the release several times in order to make the game great instead of a rushed unfinished game
where victoria 3 at
homeworld 3 will not be getting a roguelike mode stop with the lies and slander they never mentioned it
I hope at some point they'll consider adding a Battlefront 2 style galactic conquest like mode.
