It's a whole thing: thinking of the type of food and the nutritients you need to balance your diet, prepare it, actually eat it and sometimes with certain food the chewing is a lot, cleaning up after.. Very time-consuming and it's every day? I like variation so have to get creative while staying in budget. My sister looked at me weird when I told her I wish I could skip it sometimes and just get the energy instantly because she knows how much I LOVE food ! The taste of it, trying different cuisines and I am not a picky eater. It's simply A LOT sometimes. So I found Shane´s comment very relatable and I am glad to know I am not alone.
I think about this ALL THE TIME. Literally was trying to sell my parents on taking a pill for meals and they were flabbergasted. Like - why do I have to spend so much mental energy on this? Why can’t I just eat when I want to actually enjoy myself???

yeah like at first I was like should files just be kept to the ghosts? That’s like it’s USP - but then I realised it’s not that deep and although food content isn’t my fave, it’s all just a bit o’ fun 😌

Ryan monologuing about how much caffeine to drink so he doesn't get sick is weirdly relatable.
Do people commonly get sick on that small of an amount of caffeine? Or is it a sensitivity/intolerance?
I can’t say for Ryan but I do know that as you get older you become more sensitive to caffeine. Also many mood regulating medications will interact with certain levels of caffeine. Moreover, if you have anxiety or heart conditions then you can have a sensitivity as well
@@adelitaflores-moss454 I have a heart condition so it does for me. makes my chest hurt like hell and my heart pounds a lot.
@@FledglingfablesRyan has spoken about his anxiety before so I’m just assuming it might make his anxiety go crazy OR he’s on anxiety medication and it has a bad reaction. Caffeine is so weird
@@adelitaflores-moss454 In my case, I've always been sensitive to caffeine and really any type of stimulant, (which does save me a lot of money on my ADD medication, since I have to take so little). I'm not aware of anyone else in my immediate family who has it, but most of them don't drink a lot of caffeinated beverages. IDK maybe it's from being just a super anxious half Asian like Ryan. 😂

It brought back so many memories. 😂
My high school didn't have enough seating in the ... well, it was technically a cafeteria, but the kitchen wasn't functional, so technically it was just a big empty space where kids brought in food ... so the outdoor stairs by the theater were actually a fairly prime spot when the weather was nice. My little squad of weirdos fought to keep them our territory. We were massive losers, but I would argue everyone forced to attend that school was. It was church-run, they taught us we'd go to hell if we didn't believe there were dinosaurs in the Garden of Eden, and a few years ago the whole place got shut down for being an international-student scam.
So in proper perspective, the stairs are actually cool as hell.

As a native Portlander, born and raised, I was SO EXCITED to see this episode. While Screen Door and Shalom Y'all are wonderful. I am a little sad the boys didn't get to try more places. Portland is a crazy foodie city, please come back and eat all our food!

My nephew moved to a Portland adjacent place for school. I will recommend this place. There is 50/50 chance he goes, which is good enough.

As somebody who moved out of Portland recently after 13 years there, it was fantastic to see y'all enjoy some of the places I used to adore.
Also, the whole "I have better things to do, eating is time consuming, can I opt out" was something I used to heavily feel as a small kid. I was made to sit and eat lunch with the teacher in kindergarten because we had like, an allotted time for eating and play, and I thought "fuck food, I want to ride the slide ten thousand times".
That's me, but with nap time, bro 😭 as most kids, I guess 😅.
I still feel that way about food! I have weird phases where the thought of eating makes me feel sick and I hate how much of a drag it is to go through the whole eating process. On those days, I wish I could opt out lol, so I can relate to Shane a bit.

i went to the second show (which was one of the most hilarious nights of my life, genuinely a great show!!!) and as i was walking up the stairs, i saw a plastic fork on the ground. i was wondering who on earth would be eating in the middle of a staircase, but now i have my answer lol. i legitimately was so confused

Love this series. This was incredibly exciting for me because I never see anyone on mukbangs eat food I've like, had, but I've spent a fair amount of time in Portland and I've eaten at 2/3rds of these places! Back when I first went there, Voodoo Donuts was the go-to "gotta try it" place, but I believe they've since started more locations and aren't a Portland-only one shop experience anymore.

I was there with my 10 year old daughter who is a HUGE fan. She was 1 of 2 children in the audience 😂. But I was born and raised in Ptown, so this was extra special and I love seeing behind the scenes and that you checked out POWELL'S!
