RC Gliders Aerotow In Windy Conditions

- I lost a motor but found a great welcome at the Blackdown RC Model Flying Club for their aerotow event for radio control gliders, the wind did get up but it didn't stop the fun.

I don’t get around to doing u-tube comments often but must on this one.
It brings back many happy memories from the late 70’s when I was stationed at Canadian Forces Base Lahr in Germany. We had a very active gliding club and I so enjoyed flying the full size Ka-7’s on weekends when not on duty.
Seeing the terrific in-flight footage of this model is so much like being in the cockpit.
As an avid model airplane builder and flyer (albeit mostly control line) I never miss watching and liking your adventures.

Thanks Cliff, what a lovely surprise to get home and find this lovely video of the day. I had no idea that you were filming. The maiden flight. The model next to the Pawnee is a 1/3 scale Spacewalker 1 with a Saito 61 to. Built from an Sig kit during lockdown.

Very nice shots and views. At my local airfield they use the real Pawnee to tow up the gliders. It is fun to watch. Pity about the engine. I guess there is no way of finding it again. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Andrew, a very adaptable aeroplane indeed. I think a bigger search party going further afield would probably have turned it up but the grass was getting longer as we went out. At least I had plenty of height to make an easy landing 👍

Am I right in thinking that the runway at Upottery was used for the D-Day invasion? I'm sure it was on Band of brothers!! Some class big gliders on show Cliff, shame that you lost the motor off your glider!! Looks like you had a great day 😀👍

I don't think so Paul I've never done towing only being towed 👍
