Fire Alarm Activation Due to Suppression System

- My college's fire alarm system activated today due to the a problem with an FM-200 (fire suppression) system in a server room. The cause was most likely a heat detector, as the room was reported to be very hot when maintenance personnel arrived. Fortunately, they were able to respond in time to prevent a discharge, which would've meant a costly tank replacement.
For those of you wondering why the signals in the old building aren't sounding, I assure you nothing is broken. They have it set up that way because there's a brick wall separating the two buildings, so they don't need to evacuate the whole campus the moment the alarm trips in one building.
Signals:
- Simplex TrueAlert speaker/strobes (indoor fire alarm)
- Wheelock MB-24-G10 motor bells (outdoor fire alarm)
- Wheelock Exceder HSR-A (agent release alarm) - Zábava
The most epic and cinematic fire alarm I've heard! The combination of whoop and 60bpm marchtime is full of overwhelming power
This video is nostalgic to me. I loved fire alarms when I was little and would always watch this video.

Wow! Wheelock exceeders with agent lettering! Awesome!
I saw some that say “alert” instead with some truealerts that also say “alert”

Surprised maintenance was able to prevent the discharge. Usually once a fire suppression system alarm triggers you may get a pre-Alert and then pre-discharge but once it reaches pre-discharge you only have 30 seconds to evacuate before the discharge starts unless someone had his or her finger on the abort switch/button and KEPT it held down until they got there.
Especially not fun if the suppression system is something like halon.
Unless the system was installed before Halon was banned, discontinued, or whatever I doubt it's Halon could be FM200, C02, or some other agent.
Gary Beltz It's FM-200.

That combination of the March Time agent alarms and the Whooping regular ones sounds so cool! But if I were you, I’d be running like hell instead of trying to look at the alarms, because that whole building’s about to be flooded with FM200 or whatever they use there.
The whole building was not going to be flooded with FM-200. Just the server room. The vast majority of the building just has regular fire sprinklers.
@@Fahrenheit4051 Oh, alright. I read the description after posting that comment (my bad…).

This is the best video but I keep getting confused which way you're going so just make sure you make up your mind soon😊
Wow! That's crazy! There wouldn't be a mess if it's a server room because it's FM-200 which is a gas and leaves no residue, aka a clean agent. All they would have to do is replace the tank
Good to know. I edited the description. I don't know much about suppression systems.
ExitSign250
So much misinformation about FM-200. Contrary to popular belief, it does NOT displace oxygen. I've been in both FM-200 AND HALON discharge tests, and I didn't suffocate. No one did. The only thing that happened was I got a raging erection.
@Aslin Fire Safety 🤣
@@Fahrenheit4051 does the server room also have HSR-A’s?
I wonder if the old simplex with the white cover on the light is part of the previous fire alarms if this is an older building. My middle school replaced the 1950s single stroke bells with est genesis speaker strobes and forgot to remove the bell in the cafeteria. It happened some point after I graduated
That separation makes sense! My dorm complex I stayed at my first year of college has 4 dorm halls, though 2 of the buildings are on one panel so both have their own
Simplex panels have 2 separate alarm systems in one panel, so you can hook up an alert alarm on a separate group
Wow😳3 Different Fire Alarm Noises That's Very Loud
Kinda like my school fire alarm with Simplex truealerts and EST Intergity. With 3 types of different pulls
My school only has Simplex truealerts.
That a cool mix👍
At least there's one that sounds different at exit to know where to escape
This isn't the tipical 3 beeps and a space, no this is constant beeping, with a woooop woooop and a bell
I love the wheelock fire alarm 🚨
Those Simplex TruAlert systems would actually be pretty affective and actually have an advantage if they were placed in schools. I wish I could have those systems in my school, so that they sound like fire and police sirens. I seriously hate the newer modeled systems that have the actual horn and blare kind of sounds.
Or tv shows like Star Trek.

I’m not sure if you have heard of this, but it appears that there’s one stadium that the Florida Georgia Line band was performing at in Florida it’s a Simplex TrueAlert signal as it has the exact same sounding! Did you know that there was a news of the fire alarm going off at a stadium in Florida where the Florida Georgia Line band was having a concert at? It was very devastating as everyone rushed out panicking for mercy!
In case you're wondering, that was at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

what was the model of that upside down simplex truealert speaker strobe?
Since they're fairly new and yet lack an LED indicator, probably 4906-9151 (conventional, multi-candela). The faceplates are 4905-9811.
THE ALARM NEVER STOPS.

yes the exceeder is doing well
Pretty interesting how half of the building has regular mounted truealerts and the other has upside down ones without the two logos and the fire lettering below the speaker part right-side up
How come the simplex horns didn't go off? Is it because of the suppression?
How come there is slow whoop and march time combination in the same hallway?

because It’s simplexs norm to do so 😂 😂

That’s a good alarm.
My lil bro literally saw the the thumbnail and yelled amogus
The thumbnail is AMONGUS
The simplex truealert es speaker strobe is like that but with a different speaker grille design
I'm assuming it was a fm 200 system or was it just a sprinkler system
how do you make a wheelock exceeder do pulse?
The FM-200 panel is coding it. The only on-board options are code 3 and continuous.
Him: Hey we’re having a fire alarm!
Me: ok :3
The wheelock exceeder has an "AGENT" lettering on it. Does it do simplex voice evacuation or slow whoops?
Sorry to be 3 years late, but the Simplex Truealert speaker/strobes (the long ones that are rounded on the bottom (or top) & say "FIRE" on the bottom (or top) are the ones doing the slow whoop tone. (not sure if there's a message though) The Exceder is doing the code known as "pulse", in this case acting as an agent release alarm for the suppression system.

Everyone gangster until the fire alarm goes off
Is the 2903 in march time or what and voice evacuation is 60 bpm march time
My dads work AXA Uses the same fire alarm system as that and same sound
I like fire alarms. They are cool.
My French Vocabulary me too
Is the agent alarm suppose to always activate with the fire alarm? Or is that just for sprinkler activation?
That signal is part of the server room fire suppression system for the server room. The "agent" in question is FM-200, a fire suppressant chemical. The signal is warning of an imminent discharge. The fire suppression panel tripped the 4100U/ES.
At Harrison’s preschool they have custom alarms
what building did this happen at
That sound just like my one in my school has a good scary and good warning
I like how nobody is exiting the building
The Exceders outdo the TrueAlerts!

Your are a brave man to stand that close to a wheelock exceeder.
It was pretty gnarly. If you didn't already know, I was able to hear it past a brick wall, 100+ feet of distance, a wall made of two layers of sheetrock, and my headphones. If it was just the 600's speakers, I wouldn't have even known there was a situation.

Where did the fire alarm came from?
I wonder if that 2903 is still there.
0:01
Why it causes fire alarm?
Well, causing a fire alarm from this 600ft tall building detects something after computer system shuts off causing the alarm sounds, after there were a loud alarm due to sound suppression system

That's what the fire alarm sounds like at my school, but we don't have the other alarm.
Right at the start of the video. Gave me a jump scare.
is it just a slow whoop or it’s a speaker too
It's a speaker. The amplifier on the panel feeds it a slow whoop tone. If they needed, emergency responders can pick up the microphone and give instructions over the same speakers. Of course, the slow whoop tone stops once they press the "talk" button.
So an ES system's suppression release just set off the agent alarm in Pulse?
No. The Exceder is connected to a suppression panel in the server room (presumably something from Ansul because it looks like a Fire-Lite). The panel trips a point on the 4100U/ES network.
@@Fahrenheit4051 Oh. It may or may not be a 4000R. Thanks for clarifying.

If you have a fire alarm just LEAVE THE BUILDING Immediately
But what if the fire alarms "Didn't" go off?
Do they do a voice evc or just the slow wloop?
Just slow whoop. The ones in the library (a separate building from the other two) do the classic 4003 slow whoop and a voice message. This system may have done it at one time, too; it has a 4003, but it may have been disconnected, as the labels were removed some time ago.
Perhaps they changed over once the 2013 addition was added.
What message does the one in the library play?
Can't remember. Probably the default "An emergency situation has been detected..." message.
