wow never thought I’d see a video from you spearfishing one of my spots, im from St. Thomas and I spearfish right there at Brewers when I come home. I will say the state of fishing in the VI right now is sad, not many fish due to unsustainable practices. When you come back I suggest you take a boat out further and to some of the surrounding remote islands like thatch cay and grass cay. The fishing is a lot more lovely and better the farther from people you get. Take a look at the channel 340 Spearfishing and see how lovely Brewers used to be just a couple years ago. Great video.

While getting back into spearing I have been reading up on Ciguetera. Can you on one of your episodes give a short story of what you went through when you had it and how long its effects lasted. Googling goes from horror stories. When I dove fifteen years ago we knew about it but weren't really that worried since there wasn't much about it out there. Kind of like shallow water blackout. When I started in the 90's to dive with no internet we never heard of it. But we stayed in our small group of friends so not much info sharing there.
Absolutely! I have a couple more videos from this trip I'll be posting and there's a ton of info in those about it and everything I went and still am going through. Videos were insane of the aftermath. Lol

are you competing in the USA Nationals in Islamorada this summer?
Hey Vince that sounds like it would be pretty sick, but I'm not a huge fan of competing tournaments. Kind of takes the passion out of it for me but everybody's different and I can see the thrill for sure!
Diving near FLL is one thing but those planes are close. I never really saw many fish to shoot in St John when I was there except in the protected areas.
Rendezvous Bay was an amazing spot for us
Yea getting some local knowledge is primo on where to dive. Ya man those planes were crazy close and loud!

I'm pretty sure I had ciguatera once, based on the symptoms from that time. Have you ever tried the test kit?

@@CaptainJackSpearo There is a kit, but I'm not sure it is super effective. Your videos are great. I snorkel, along with too many other sports, but don't spear fish.
