Hi Dan. I’m sorry for the loss of your Mum. Today I picked up the cremains of my beautiful 10 year old German shepherd. He was my best friend and whatever word is past devastation, that’s the word that fits my heart and soul. I miss him so badly. His little sisters, my Yorkie and my cat are also in obvious mourning as well. He was their “big bubba”. I’d like to make small hearts to go on their necklaces (collars). These would be way too large. I’ve cried all day. I’ve screamed. I’ve literally thrown a feet stomping tantrum. Thank you for sharing how to do these. Once I calm down, I’ll look into the process. ❤

What a cool idea- thank you for your tutorial. I am very sorry for your loss 💕I have found if you add some white to the resin and ashes mixture it looks like stone when it sets- it's particularly interesting in black as well. 😊 I started out with our dogs ashes - then my daughter's father in law when he passed. Then we lost our son last year and it has brought me so much peace to make things for his friends and loved ones that contain his ashes 💕 oh and so far... I have had bad experiences with UV resin... I don't know if there is a reaction of sorts... But thought I would pass it on.

    Hi,
I was so happy to find this video, firstly I searched for it because one of my friends asked me to set their loved ones ashes in resin and at first, I was a little freaked out. Not only because it was ashes but because I didn't want to mess it up, your video helped a lot. The design came out fine, so I went online to see if it was a 'Normal thing and I was so shocked and horrified at the price some places were charging.
I work with UV resin, and none of the materials I used would come close to the cost of some of the pieces. So I went to my local undertakers with an idea, offering a completely free service to set ashes in resin. The cost of funerals is horrific and I could not justify charging people for something that would mean so much to them.....my idea was accepted and I've made over 600 pieces as one families wanted mutipuls....the best bit, when they came to pick up their keepsakes and they asked how much....I told them free.

Exceptionally good tutorial!! First thing, I’d like to send you my warmest hugs & condolences about your mom. I normally watch quietly. I want to tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your beautiful art with her ashes. It’s a topic most are afraid to speak of but it’s so important for many. Thanks 🙏🏽
Shapes.. I suppose any shape inside a shape can happen as long as one is smaller. (I mention it bc we have a situation with 4 daughters and a son who just lost their dad - all younger siblings 17 - 26. He was my ex husband, still a huge loss).
I’m thinking a square within a square or diamond inside a square would be nice too. Of course I would do some practice runs. Maybe cuff links or something. I really like the gold leaf idea too. And maybe on the back side of them all ‘Dad’ and then dome with epoxy. I think after a short time they’ll end up in their jewelry boxes but there’s a lot of sentimental things that stay in those so that’s a nice thing.
On a little different note - did you know that they will give each kid an urn these days? I had no idea. Yah plus a few others like his mom and sister. I had no idea they were doing that now. I don’t know if it’s just when people don’t agree or if it’s something offered. All our kids have a small urn they picked out. Some are getting tattoos with smaller amounts of theirs and then making a little shelf/areas of pics & memories in their rooms. I think that’s kinda cool 😎
Anyways I had no idea how to go about making pendants or something so thanks again!! I’m headed to watch some of your other videos ✌️✌️✌️

I've just found your channel and am hooked.
I'm completely thrown by how you have immortalised your mum forever in these beautiful pieces of jewellery. I would love to do this with the ashes of my beloved dogs but like you said in the video, you have to be so careful and I dont feel confident enough to try it myself yet, think I'll try the sand first. Also I wonder if it would work with UV resin as that is what I work with mainly?
I'm so sorry for the loss of your mum but what a lovely way to always have her with you.
Many thanks for sharing this, and all your other videos with us, best wishes from Ireland.

This was so useful, thank you. I watched this one a few times and then finally ventured to make my sister a memorial pendant with her late husband's ashes. I set one in resin and another in polymer clay. Have yet to create a bezel for the resin one, but quite pleased with the results. Don't think we can add pics here?

Amazing job danial! I want to mix my pawpaws and my uncles ashes together and do something like this for my mom and my aunr and cousins. And then also do something with just their ashes by themselves....i think this will be perfect. Ive done resin in sand before and it turned out good...so i think ill try it...anywhere i can send you photos when i do it??

I put my parents in some Christmas decoration made from resin so that they were always part of our celebrations. I’m going to put them in some cabachons for my daughters. And get them set in some 9ct gold mounts

This is absolutely perfect as I have been asked to do something with ashes, I have never used ashes before. I did try something with sand but it totally went wrong!! After seeing this video now I know why it went wrong!!!
Would you use 2 part resin rather than uv resin? I'm guessing 2 part would be better.
Thank you once again, you explain it perfectly. Could you use glitter or mica powder instead as I don't think I have any metallic alcohol inks. Thank you again 🥰x

Thanks for the video it’s so helpful. I was wondering if you wanted to add some coloured flecks or have the ashes on top of a black background would you do it in layers (allowing the resin to be curing in between each layer)? ❤

Hi Daniel, this is so beautiful ❤️ I have seen ads for companies that make these, but never thought I could make one myself! Thank you so much for showing the process and you using your mom’s ashes. It is very difficult losing your mom. I lost my mom 12 years ago. This would be something so special to have and to make it myself 💕 I do have a question for you if you could kindly answer. I have the Jauqard (sp?) metallic alcohol ink set. Would that work for this? I do have the white sinker ink. Thank you again 💖

    • @daniel..cooper
      @daniel..cooper  Před 3 lety +1

Hi Kelly, yes, some companies may now hate me for this but I believe anyone can make these simply by themselves after a little practise. As for the inks, go for a few trial runs 😊. I haven't used and Jauqard products yet so sadly cannot advise, so sorry.x

Great way to preserve and remember your loved ones. I have a question, I’ve seen a resin spray that people use to get a crystal clear finish after sanding. I’m in the UK, and can’t find the equivalent available here. Do you know of anything that would get the same results? I polish and polish my pieces but cannot get them crystal clear again. Thanks and your resin work is amazing.
