What a waste of what could have been a cool truck.
I was really hoping to see a complete overlander build to inspire my own M1010 dreams. My disappointment is immeasurable. Oh well, enjoy your lifted station wagon.
Man I was sold on a cool truck box project that would be something that I could do. The end product honestly not cool at all when compared to the potential that the M1010 had.
Now start with a jeep and change everything on it until it's a Chevy ambulance.
There's nothing left from the original truck, except the axles! $5k for 2 axles, and the rest went to scrap!
Hahaha...so dumb! Such a waste.
They're keeping the front, rear, transmission and transfer.
So we did something new and different by taking something different and making it look like a vehicle that isn’t. Makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Let's waste 5k on a truck that were only going to use 20 % of. Good thing the shop is paying for it.........
I would've much rather seen a build of the cucv. I bet that's what you told the guy that didn't want to sell it in the first place you were going to do...
Would have been cheaper to buy a custom frame for the willys...
While the Willys body is cool, I think the original cab and box should have been retained. Other than that, really cool build.
Thank you for helping me figure out what I needed for an off road camping truck. That is perfect for what I’m looking to build with.
I don't think that body swapping is a good idea but I am quite interested in watching this episode because I am restoring CUCV (M1008) alone in Korea.
what a joke cut up great truck with a cool box to make a heavy jeep with a small gas motor the old gm 6.2 will run forever
"You can put a pool in it" I lost it.
Here in the Pacific Northwest, we don't call a two track with mud puddles off roading. We call them driveways.
I’ve never been a GM fan, but I think you should of stayed a bit true to the original concept of this truck
I agree a sick overland vehicle with some LS power would’ve been nice
Or overland with a pumped up Duramax diesel.
@@KompleteKustoms Think diesel! LS builds are way over played.
2:16 the 6.2 was old, tired, and clapped out when it was new.
They should put a 5.9L 12 valve Cummins P-pump in its place but we all know they will put a gas guzzling big block in it!
@@jessiej3991 they could have just started with a 2500 dodge too
@@AndyFromm You do realize the 5.9L Cummins also comes in other vehicles such as RV's,Boats,Construction Equipment and Bus's that have no affiliation to Dodge aka Chrysler right?
@@jessiej3991 look at my channel and rethink your question
@@jessiej3991 btw I own 7 cummins and not a 1 of them came out of a dodge....
Did anyone else notice the passenger rear tire is mounted backwards?
That’s why I came to the comments. Wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one lol
Myles Davisss Yup.
I always see tires on backwards and feel alone😅
They changed it
The stupidity starts when they leave the shop to swap the wheels on gravel the hard way.
first episode of your show i have ever watched. Also the last. ruined a cucv. could have been a crazy awesome overland rig. had everything you needed for it. Swap in a cummins or dirtymax, and build an interior. Instead, jump on the jeep yuppy train and away you go...
if you guys wanted military axles to put under your Willys Jeep you should have gone to Memphis Equipment Company in Memphis Tennessee and gotten salvage Dana 60 axles for it instead of chewing up two perfectly good vehicles to build one. Stacy David did the same thing on Trucks when he built Sergeant Rock out of a 1946 Dodge truck he found in a field.
That was an awesome diesel truck
If I was the guy who sold his really cool, unique project rig to these Carcass jack-asses and I saw what they did to it, I'd be PISSED!
this a waste of a of square body, could of got frame some else
The right rear tire was mounded backwards..... need an alignment....
At what point in the video do you see this?
Is it just me or did they mount the right rear tire backwards?
Why would you leave a perfectly good shop with a lift, load and haul tires, wheels, jacks, jack stands, compressor, etc.... just to change on the side of the trail?!
Bachelorette party truck! Put the hottub on the roof with a bar ;)
First commercial at 1:28 minutes, second at 15:35, more impressive than some of the other PN videos. Very impressive video.
its always a party when Detroit muscle shows up and the boys from engine power. lets build something awesome !
I'm excited about this build. Lol! Talk about a face-lift! Bring out the CARCASSS!
Get your bearing grease ready boys we’re puddle jumpin!!
Who mounted one of them tires backwards? 😂
The owner didn't want to sale it, but did when we told them our plans. .......... You can find these for sale on the internet, we found ours on Craigslist...
It would be cool if the guys over at truck tech took that 6.2 Detroit diesel and rebuilt it . for all us guys who have the 6.2/6.5 in our old square body's .
I thought you were supposed to cut the frame as a z shape Instead of straight like they did
That thing is awesome!! Love to get my hands on a military squarebody but there aren’t that many around in Canada
We had a truck just like this, was a 1987 military with a conventional bed and a 6.2 diesel. We converted it to a brush truck and use it for 12 years until 2 members wrecked it going to a call and bent the frame. Still ran and kinda drove, we sold it via bid and I'm sure the new owner is going to swap the frame. Chevy square body frames are pretty plentiful around here
That’s so wrong☹️
I drove on of these for a search and rescue team. It was sorta like driving a Miata in autocross. Had to always think about maintaining just the right amount of momentum. Also, that box should be insulated. Big bonus for building a camper out of it. PS. Watch out for those swing down litter holders. They WILL come lose and knock ya in the head when you least expect it.
i have so been waiting for this show
I like that Thing!
Cool project but I would have liked a camper.
All the cameos!
Love these more more
You could have used the discarded frame sections for the fishplates and boxing plates instead of wasting raw stock. Otherwise I'm enjoying the build so far.
What did you do with the cab?
I need part off of it for my M1009... like the skin from the top to make patch panels to fix my rust.
You are my favourite on powernation
I like the new show...
I like trucks like those but not with the big back
I woulda thrown another diesel in here but ig a small block
I'm the only one more trigger about the directional tire that they put on backwards on the right rear😂
ребята молодцы продолжайте в том же духе
Great show
While they were changing the tire what did he mean by usually you would have to do it gear swap?
Just fyi guys they make a great tool called a air gun/impact which is an easier way to take those bolts out
Mantull bos😁😁👌
nice over the top intro
😁✌🖖very cool👌👍😎
Back in January, this show had XOR which showcases the Willy; is a new approach of the project?
This is badass!!! Great work to everyone involved. Can’t wait for the next episode!
4:46 cue the luke bryan and florida georgia line
Still waiting to see that 410 small block Mopar on the dyno.
Different project. This gets the 350 horsepower blew up.
Does a fish plate offer an advantage over a z-cut?
I always understood the z cut offered a larger weld surface for more strength
No offense....but as soon as he said "hot tub" in the back I wanted to slap the "morrony" out of him....this is an off road beast...not some bullshit that would never see a single drop of Mudd on it
Idk why that guy is such a moron, kills the vibe, not even the other guys were feeling the project lol
EXACTLY!!!.. he's still in the pimp my ride bullshit!!..
Where did you get the Willys body?
What a waste of a good base truck
Anyone else notice the right rear tire is on backwards
Anyone realise the PASSENGER rear tire is backwards?
That truck was going to rot away in someone’s back yard or be abandoned in the woods. I can’t imagine that the Willy’s is going to drop right on though. The small block is an unimaginative choice.
Pronounced Kuk-vee. Similar to how a HMMWV is called a Humvee. Caused me a tic every time he spelled out Kuk-vee.
god dam, why not just go buy an old k20 or k30 and buy all the parts you need instead of wasting a perfect truck.
I'd buy the engine if it didn't cost so much to ship to me lol
really would love to have that engine for a project I'm working on.
I wouldn't of did that...would of built a lot differently...
"Clapped out 6.2 diesel" And.... that's where they know NOTHING. Mofos Run past 500,000 miles. Double Down Bet $350. Right now.
Y E E T
What a horrible thing to do with the truck, why did you do this? A real shame you f**ked it up
“Ambulance.” That’s a contact truck. Can be used for whatever they need.
Its not military grade without broken bolts.
Its like they took roadkill and dirt everyday smashed them together and came out with a complete pile of shit.
so 1000 dollars for a junky frame?
Dummys one tire is back ass akwards, Duhhhhhh
I unsubbed from motor trend because of the absolutely stupid shit they do to cars
Found this channel and subbed about a year ago unsubbed about two weeks later i get absolutely pissed off when these tv guys destroy vehicles to do something stupid with em...
They shouldve just left this truck alone and modded the ambulance portion to suit a specific need
Now im going to click the the do
Not reccomend button as i can not support destruction
boooooooooooooooooooooooooo just get a shitty s10 or ranger frame to throw that body on, don't ruin this!
This show is stupid
Goon squad did this already guys sory
