I've had 2 weather stations that did work ok except for the rain gauge both were not accurate. A good video would be watching you build one if you have the time. Cheers from Stephen in Australia.

It's so sad because they aren't cheap! We were so excited about having one. Oh well. I am genuinely thinking about making one from scratch. Using an Arduino probably. I will have to work out how much it will cost. It would be a great project thought. Thanks for the comment.

I noticed that there are lots of screws exposed - if I were you mate I definitely grab some Vaseline and when you're putting it up outside, you should pack each screw hole with it. Obviously that will be slightly messy if you do need to work on it later but putting on a pair of Nitrile gloves and gouging out some vaseline to get to the screws is going to be much easier than dealing with loads of rust. Best to do that bit of preventative maintenance as it will make the thing last a lot longer. It's worth doing.
Oh! I wrote the above before seeing that it isn't fit for purpose. What a shame. But hey, with all the available sensors forArduino, why not build one around a Wemos D1 mini or something - that will connect much farther than two metres, that's for sure. But if you do buy one and find that you're happy with it, please blob some Vaseline over bolts and in screw holes, etc., or it will be a non-working rusty mess in a couple of months.
    Good luck.

I will definitely do that! As soon as you said it before I realised what a great idea it was.
I was going to make one but I wanted to "get a better one" my mistake lol

Yeah there seems to be batches that work and some that don't. I've had a lot who have the same issue and a lot more that haven't? I'm not sure if it's because of a difference in factory? Thanks for the info I appreciate it

i wonder if its not due to power issues. cause that is 4.5v max if the batteries are decent and new. now a wireless signal does need stable enough power. might have worked beter if it was 18650

They were brand new batteries but yeah it would have been much better if they were 18650. They would have been more thermally stable at least! Even if they didn't help the range

I’ve had Bresser weather stations for many years now and they work perfectly, any problems are due to batteries coming to the end of the work in life.

@@asboss63 the batteries I used were brand new. Apparently there are quite a few times people have had the same issues as me. It's sad really.
