Here's What Competitive Eating Does to Your Body
time.com/2954614/competitive-e...
"Many serious competitive eaters appear to be relatively thin and healthy. So how do they eat that many hot dogs and stay healthy? And is it safe? Not much research has been done about competitive eating. But several doctors from the University of Pennsylvania did an experiment for a National Geographic special, the results of which were published in the Journal of Roentgenology."
Take a Bite Out of the World's Top Eating Contests
www.seeker.com/take-a-bite-ou...
"Everyone likes to eat. But for some people, eating is more than simple sustenance; it's a competition. As HowStuffWorks.com's Ed Grabianowski notes, competitive eating is a pastime that goes back thousands of years. The Major League Eating (MLE) and International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE) suggested that, 'If you have 30 hungry Neanderthals in a cave and a rabbit walks in, that is a competitive eating situation.'"
Fourth of July Food: Where Did It Come From?
www.seeker.com/fourth-of-july...
"For some Americans, July 4 doesn't start until a grill is fired up, followed by hot dogs, hamburgers -- or maybe kabobs -- served with sides of french fries and watermelon. So how did we land on these particular foods?"

I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT.
Literally so true
Well done video. It's nice to see the science behind our shenanigans.
Yall are dumbasses
OK, we've been reading the comments and we changed the thumb. It was pretty disgusting, you're right. But, on the bright side at least it made us all feel something! (Other than a strange inkling to grab a hot dog for lunch, that is.) - Trace
Someone please tell me what was the thumbnail
Can depression and stress block the sensation of being full? Sometimes when I get frustrated with myself and cannot control it, I tend to eat more than I normally do.
Very legit question
Talk to the youtuber Furious Pete. He said he's defecated whole undigested food after a competition.
Food is love, food is life.
Csongibongi true 😋😂
Csongibongi but high doses are death.
It's so expensive though. I like food, but it's important to be able to go without it for a while.

You cannot have a competitive eating video without mention of Matt stonie...cmon seeker
but but my body reacts to regular eating...
_Weak_
It is definitely easy to choke doing this... the one and only time I attempted to speed-eat something (I had been watching a lot of CZcams videos and was curious if I could do it) I tried to down a Big Mac. Huge mistake. Maybe five seconds and roughly halfway into the burger I took a wrong breath, got some food in my throat, and had the worst coughing fit as I tried to hack up the food and not die. In the five-ish seconds leading up to that point, I thought I had the technique down... nope. I've never wanted to be a competitive eater, this was solely out of curiosity, and my experiment proved that I am not cut out for that task and those that do it are definitely way better at it than I am.

Wow it's incredible to learn a bit more about how the body reacts to competitive eating. It's great that the video also pointed out the side effects and dangers of this practice. Even though my friend referred to me as a black hole when it comes to eating as joke and a somewhat true remark, I don't think I will be participating in the game of competitive eating anytime soon. 😂
Meanwhile a crying child goes to bed hungry.
starvation in fragments is very healthy. Humans were meant to go days without food. A lot of modern health problems stem from having constant access to carbs.
"researchers found the eater's stomach could accept an almost unlimited amount of food" - that's the stupidest thing I ever heard.
What I really want to know is how they feel after eating 70 hot dogs and how they burn off all those calories.
I thought a body is going to sit in front of computer and will react to competitive eating videos... after that giving its useless opinion on it.

39 hot dogs? Sounds like a normal Saturday to me.
What type of hot dogs?
I've been waiting for something like this for a long time.
Biggest meal I ate was 2 1/2 pounds of hash browns, 12 egg bacon + sour cream omelette, 8 pieces of toast, and 7 cups of coffee.
Get on my level.
I'm diggin' the thicker beard, Trace.
Competitive eating is just a social acceptance of people with Bulimia or BED
The one thing good about competitive eating, is that when I watch their videos I stop being hungry
So basically in general you didn't point anything wrong with big meals.
Obesity is related with nutrition overall, doesn't matter if you have one big meal.

He on a whole different level lol
Adam Bumber The difference between him and many other eaters is that he clearly doesn’t take care of himself physically otherwise. Poor guy is probably going to develop some serious health issues, if he hasn’t already
I had a disgusting thought. What if when the stomach is full, the partialy digested food gets pushed into the intestins? If this happened , the stuff that comes out the back end might be recognizable as the stuff they ate. Which might also explain competors reluctance to explain there 'experience'.
I can barely even eat a normal sized meal in one sitting =‘) if I try to eat anymore I risk puking everything back up again. It’s not fun
If I were to do this, I would do it once in my lifetime just to get that crossed off the list of things I wanna do in life.
(I'm recovering from an eating disorder)
My largest meal was:
-1.5 quarts of ice cream
-Two packs of Ramen
-One personal sized pizza
-Two bowls of Alfredo Pasta
-Three bowls of cheerios
And I'm still skinny
Agreed. No competitive eater has ever talks about after math. Can’t imagine 15 lbs going out.
How in the world did you guys not research/mention the effects eating like this has on your intestines? That's the real scary thing about this all.
Whenever I see this "sport". . . it just gets me every time because here in my country, I sometimes hear the cries of hungry children just a stone's throw away from my place.
But what if you are a sayan. Sayans eat even many times more than a competitive eater. How can they do that?!?

Does competitive eaters needs website?
I believe the key is drinking A LOT OF water before a competition. It stretches the stomach.
I’ll just say it because everyone’s saying it... MATT STONIE
Thanks for the video...
Iv done some. " emotional " eating and Iv had this uncomfortable lump in my chest... These people fascinate me !!!
I already have gastroparesis and I sometimes only eat once a day. Yes I might be severely underweight ( at 94 lbs ) but there's nothing I can do about it. But I really do enjoy watching it. Does anyone know if it still airs? If so what channel and what time does it come on, on the east coast?

All the people in the comments shouting out Matt Stonie. Check out Yuka Kinoshita if you want to see the real deal
She eat a lot...but not fast for competitive eat, thats why matt stonie is better
My Delicious Morsel i love her channel
I followed a diet once where I ate the same amount in small portions spread out through time, theory being the your stomach doesn't stretch as much and your appetite is therefore decreased
Gastroparesis isn’t a condition of the stomach becoming too stretched. It is when the vagus nerve is unable to open to pyloric valve to empty the stomach-the contractions are reduced. This can happen to people whether they eat large or small amounts, though the more food in the stomach, the worse the paresis tends to be. But it still isn’t about stomach stretching.
"Obesity"? Um competitive eaters are required to be in shape? I read somewhere that fats are actually prevents your stomach from stretching out.
Gastroparesis is delayed or halted stomach emptying, due to neuropathy, and has nothing to do with the size of ones stomach, but rather the nerve impulses that allow it to empty. It would make sense if the muscles became so stretched that the nerve impulses became weak and the muscles couldn’t contract properly, but gastroparesis is delayed stomach emptying, and it can be caused by many things. It is not an overstretched stomach that can’t digest food.
How was it possible that a human beings stomach can hold that much food
I never understood how some people can binge drink 10+ beers and not throw up, like dosnt your stomach feel like death after that and how does it all fit in u 💀
When I was 16 (now I'm 21) i remember I participated in a pizza eating challenge and
Yes as a newbie competitive eater i was (i don't do it anymore)
I almost choked on the food
And there was another time when I was eating a lot of spaghetti as a challenge
Then I felt like dying
In fact don't do that shit of eating too much food like that
Because there are really bad consequences later
My son does a pie eating contest every year at the fair, but it is FAR more sensible. ONE piece of pie as fast as you reasonable can (which is not very fast). These "consume mass quantities" type contests are gross.
Your son must be the size of a Jeep huh
But that’s boring ...
@@dontaycox1472 I'm not sure what out of that made you come to that conclusion.
So are we gon cruise past the fact that the dude in the thumbnail has dirty nails?
My family and I were just talking about people who do this. My mom was confused on why they are not all fat.
I don't like competitive eating because they don't enjoy the food. I tried watching it, but it just irked my nerves at how much they're eating without taking in how good the food is.
When i eat too much i get intense stomach cramps stabbing pain and can't eat for 3 days. I cant believe how they can do this!
Some eaters do admit they wish they were dead after competition and have a long morning on the toilet and sometimes no sleep
I’m 15, I eat a lot. For breakfast I can eat 12 eggs 6 pieces of toast and cereal. Then eat more throughout the day. I was wondering if my stomach being stretched might affect ability to digest milk, and give you more gas ?
But young burn fast excrise get older problem will happen metabolism slows down just be aware .
Please someone help me... how rare is radiounlar synostosis i have it my sister has it one of my brother has it but i have never met a stranger with it
Kim Jong Un .. It is extremely rare. Never met anyone in my life with the condition. So rare, they haven't extensively researched it.
a competitive eaters stomach being able to take an unlimited amount of food sounds like a bit of an overstatement.
Competitive eating is disgusting.
What was the old thumbnail?
should of gone over the fact that most competitive eaters go through water training to stretch the stomach leading up to a competition, they dont just consume mass amounts of food all the time or they would all be very obese.
A couple of problems. You failed to mention that alot of eaters don't digest everything. Purging is common. Second, if you eat 10000 calories Monday, you might only eat 300 - 400 on each of the next 3 days! Less than 3000 a day on the weekly average. Alot of eaters are lean and VERY healthy because they only eat this way intermittently as part of a dieting plan known as intermittent fasting. So all in all if you are grossed out by it don't watch it.
trace's ending comment was really cute and endearing
competitive eating has led to a brand-new niche challange which is going viral as I type.....
"Competitive shitting" with it's extreme spin-off combo: "competative curry/chilli eating and shitting" whereby toilet paper is placed in the freezer for the morning after. the technique of 'dabbing' instead of 'wiping' your arse if recommended, apparently.
call it the "ring-sting challange", if you wish. crimping a cable or dropping the babies off at the pond in the morning will never be the same again.
known medical side effects: if has been reported that some regular competitors have had to have their arseholes amputated and replaced by ripcords, although generally, this is frowned apon within the community and seen as cheating.
I wonder how many hot dogs this guy has put in his body? And I'll bet he enjoyed it.
