I learned a lot in this video exploring Hong Kong street food culture! 1. the best street food is in fact, not on the streets and 2. claw machines are RIGGED!!!

lol that lady probably saw a foreigner and decided that she needed to feed you well. That bowl of noodles looks delightfully packed!
She wants to make sure she got a taste of everything. 😂
It was not hers. She said that she didn't try that at the end.
@@c.i.7245she was eating a bowl of noodles at the end lol
She wanted you to experience all her favourite toppings! 😊
Welcome to Hong Kong! The mall you went to is a super local place and as a Hong Konger, I am really surprise you found this place and introduce in your video. Thanks for sharing all the great HK Street food to the people around the world in your channel and I hope more tourists to come and visit HK.
From what I understand, HK stopped issuing licenses for street food/carts and the ones that are left are the ones that are grandfathered in and once they give up the license, they will never be gotten again. I think that is why a lot of the used-to-be street food are now done in tiny stores and malls to kind of reflect that change.
The carts were unlicensed street vendors and when I was little you will sometimes see them running away from the cops. The license places are dai pai dongs (big license shops) which are the ones dying out as you say because you can’t pass it on or get new ones.
Temple street in HK used to have a fair few of these cart vendors. Prob all gone now. Hard job and young people don’t want to do it.
@@YeungEThat's odd. Where I live, food carts are basically entirely the domain of young people
@@BJGvideos where abouts are you?
The bagged noodles were my favorite when I was a teenager -- cheap and flavorful
It honestely looked really, really good
I remember how when we were kids, we would also hover over the stall after school to build our own bag of noodles. The flavour is too good to explain, garlicky, savoury and also a hint of sweetness. Fond memories indeed
My sis and I used to get off elementary school by 6 PM and had to get curry fishball skewers, non spicy from a street cart. Lady would dip skewers into the sauces. None of this tripe! 😂 Enjoy HK! Eat more 大牌档 if they're still around or 茶餐厅to save some cash money.
I love HK people they are so cool and friendly and open minded and enthusiastic ❤
Many of them are also very "foul" mouth (dllm-style is most popular) 😂
You have my endorsement that your trials in HK is very authentic. They are the Hong Konge style of street food. Cheap and yummy. The only drawback is the environment.
Welcome to HK, you can visit Temple Night Market n try different kinds of food too😊
I remember when I was young, I always go to visit a stall with wheels to buy a bowl of "oil" noodle with fish ball and pig skin~ and after school, I would rush out of the door where they are 6 or 7 food stalls on wheels waiting for me ! Fish ball, pig skin, friend fish meat in pepper and eggplant, soa milk and tofu "fa" , satay kewers, dragon whiskers candy, crunchy wafers wrap, egg pops (gai dan chai) and waffles with peanut butter jam and condensed milk and the lists goes on! I can have a feast with $1 dollar back in my ole ole days, LOL
We just love snacks in our blood and fish ball, siu mai, fake shark's skin soup , gizzards, octopus in skewer, stinky tofu are my staple comofrt food! And the list goes on and on.......yummilicious! Makes me want to go to Fat Mamaa for some gizzards and Octopus later!
Hope you enjoy to the max. The mall at Kwai Chung is sure interesting on how it turns out to be a snacks paradise but I still prefer to stand and eat on the street with sauces dripping all over!
Street food in Hong Kong is AMAZING!
Amy my wife and I absolutely adore your videos. You were made for being in front of a CAMERA!! Please don't ever lose your passion for entertaining your audience.
I'm getting second hand envy 😂
I could have been living in Hong Kong but oh no, I had to blow that opportunity offered to me.
Great food adventure, Amy. Who would have thought the best Hong Kong street food comes from a mall!
Cheers from 🇨🇦
It’s just first hand no?
I’ve travelled the world and I’m still happy to be here in Canada 🇨🇦 I think you made the wisest choice myself
Welcome to Hong Kong Amy !!! Hope you were having a great time in HK :)

@@taiwanstillisntacountrybruh, can u people stop for a second. If anything, you are not promoting how HK is part of china, you are simply just getting on people’s nerves
This was such a good ad placement
Knorr product, chicken essence, is originally from Germany 🇩🇪
also at least in germany you do pronounce the K. so its Knoor not noor
even the chicken?
這視頻中的家樂雞精產品應該是一個廣告,宣傳!
@@oooO-id9hm i do kinda agree
I think the company is from Germany but they make asian based products.
The Knorr product placement shot was super professional lololol
Going to hk in a week these couple vids are rlly nice gonna try these places :D

Yangzhiganlu is the best! Glad you picked that one.
Having hk food envy! Great vid 💗
New the channel and catching up on all the old videos. But I love it.
It’s like visiting an old friend and it helps me relearn my Chinese which I don’t get to use very often.
And I love that you actually describe the taste and not just say “it’s umami” like so many food vlogers.
Love seeing your adventures! Keep it up.
And wack bang is now my new catch phrase. It drives my students crazy 😂😂!
Watching Beautiful Amy do cuisine and culture vlogs make me feel happy and living.
I love ur videoss ur my fav food vlogger in china noww
Amazing dishes, textures, colors and flavors...amazing city, thank you for sharing!
Food looks great here 👌😁
I'm so early!! Love your videos soo much Amy :)
I was just sitting down to relax and watch CZcams so this is perfect timing !!
I always walked through the street in Mongkok/Yau Ma Tei (getting collectibles), where it sells a variety of local street Hong Kong cuisines, many locals and foreigners like to hangout there.
Awesome ‼️💯
Good video mate
I love that mall!! Glad you got to go there
OMG! Amy you definitely has done your homework before visiting. Really nice video, keep it up!
Welcome to Hong Kong Amy. Hope you have a good trip.
Its so wonderful to see malls are still so lively over there, whereas malls in the netherlands, where I live are getting closed down more and more because of internet shopping being more popular. We also never really had that many streetfood options in malls. Unfortunately its not only the netherlands that has this happening, ive seen it all over Europe and seen multiple abandoned mall video's from the US as well and when I went to the Vancouver area in 2011, seen several malls there as well that were only still half occupied and open.😢
I’m sure there’s other reasons as well but malls are a MUST in the summer as it gets so humid in HK that you simply cannot stand being anywhere that isn’t air conditioned 😂
for the cold skewers, theres a shop in TST called Fei Zai, and theyre michelin bib gourmand reccomended for their cold skewers - they do the same combo but instead of the processed sausage they have a pork intestine that tastes REALLY clean without any offal flavour at all! i did not expect to like it but it wasmy absolute fav
Morning, Amy!
I ALWAYS have Knorr chicken powder in my pantry and never reflected on why, so...this explains a lot! 😂
Another great video that gave me so much nostalgia for the food I loved eating growing up (and still do). Thanks, Amy! x
Girl, you are in the heaven of street food of HK! Glad you find this place!
Knorr is a staple in Mexican cuisine. You have the chicken flavor, beef, vegetable, tomato, and shrimp flavors!
thank you for liking hong kong street food 😋
enjoy the sights
🎶All the leaves are brown ...
... and the sky is grey🎶
The thumbnail looks like for an autopsy video but the content is actually lively and tasty! :D
You really know the place as you visited Kwai Chung Mall👍
Missing HK so much! I was there over the holidays and it's definitely on my place to return. Enjoy~ go and have some local HK desserts and more egg waffles!
Like any run-of-the-mill casino, the vending machine always wins. Amateur mistake. But at least you were able to ease your claw-induced sorrows with a bowl of actual noodles. 🍜
Greatings from Sydney Amy! Been watching your videos for 3 years, and this may be the first time I get the first row sofa lol.
A few shops along your first stop in MK is another shop that does decent lamb skewers.

Well done. All authentic hk food.
Knorr is a staple here in french home cooking
Pomelo, YUM!
好久没看blondie的视频了,形象看起来成熟很多
Thanks!
don't know if you've tried this already but try the pork liver congee if it's made correctly the liver is really soft and delicious
Lovely!
I am hopefully visiting HK this summer and will for sure be visiting this mall. THank you. I suspect this place might be a short walk from the MTR and used to sell counterfeit software and dvd's back in the day.
Take the MTR to Kwai Fong station and get out at Exit D. The mall is right across the street to your right. 葵涌廣場 Kwai Chung Plaza
This is a real gourmet.🎉
5:15 The "noodles in bag" is yummy. Do try it next time. 😊
Damn! The video made me feel so hungry!
can't believe you ended up at kwai chung mall, i've really never seen a foreigner there and their food is incredible! great research and videeo as always :-)
The only wonderful thing to do in HK was visiting Lung Fung shops!!! The price is so unbelievably low!!! So I spent most of my time going to Lung Fung..
Mustard in chow mein is so good
Since there lots of places in HK I have in mind to try out the food, now I make sure I'll remember Kwai Chung Plaza for those Cart Noodles, etc.
knorr is also a staple in mexico! 😄 it’s used pretty much in every mexican house
Saw the bagged noodles on tiktok or instagram, it's quite a popular thing in hk. Mainly for students since it's real cheap
Hahah Macao Government Tourism Office should sponsor you a video like the Korean Englishman❤
You know you’re a seasoned food vlogger when you can wear white and not get your clothing dirty! 🎉🎉😂
Love the videos! Hope to return to HK soon. 😊
We also have knorr here in Malaysia
Back in the day (I don't know if they still have them) I'd even get roasted chestnuts or dragon's candy? The pulled candy thing, and also the peanut mochi like snack from random street carts. When I got older I became addicted to the curry fish balls and siumai and would mix the two sauces together and eat like that, yum. And then there are the egg waffles, and, and, and... Even for a banana I felt like I ate good. Still miss the food even now that I live abroad and haven't come back for over 4 years.
And yes I had at least one Lee Kum Kee and Knorr product in the kitchen at all times growing up. I can't replicate the taste where I am now. Oh and can't forget about Campbell cans.
Yuck to turkey gizzards and silkworm pupa. Thank you Amy for another excellent video.
I love your food adventures, Amy! I was wondering, as part of the Hong Kong experience, if it was an adjustment to read Traditional Chinese over Simplified Chinese?
As a French, it blew my mind realizing the world "clientele" was a plural in English !
Very interesting street food adventure in HK, where Street food's no more on the street, it seems.
As for the K... products, I think their formulas varies according to the country. Here in France, the types Amy shows would not be available in local supermarket though you can maybe find some in the big Asian groceries (the ones where Asian restaurants would buy their stuff). Personnaly, I would not recommend using the K.. chicken bouillon cubes from the super market for chinese cooking.
great work
So cool to see swedish products reaching as far as HK (I agree, they are very good). Just a tip, the 'k' in Knorr is not silent, it's pronounced just as spelled. Knorr is an onomatopoeia for the sound a hungry stomach makes in swedish. Also, you dare to eat so many animal parts I'd struggle with, like stomack and intestine. Love your vids! ❤
But Knorr was founded in Germany by a German...
I go to Kwai Chung Plaza a lot when I lived near there. Last time I was there, I tried this place that had "Asian Burritos"... it was OK... I guess for local tastes. Not enough cheese!
goals
Wow so surprise you were in hk。i was there around the same time!!
7:42 mustard is everywhere in *street food* in Hong Kong, but not so much in proper restaurants :D
It's occasionally used for crispy pork belly, but IIRC that's about it.
Interestingly it is always English hot mustards, but there are many other mustards that never made it to the common usage in HK.
Didn't realize this was an ad for Knorr. Totally love Knorr and your videos but it would be nice to have an ad disclaimer
Wasn’t an ad
@@MamaStyles It was. This is what is called a 'soft' promo, using youtube influencers to film, under their own styles. China uses it a lot to promote stuff as its more indirect. Have a nice day. :).
Disclaimer is in the description
@@cindyt6909 it's hardly a disclaimer. Paid advertisements need to be labelled as such
Finally found the longterm video!
Also I’m pretty sure I distinctly remember Knor in Saudi Arabia too, I recall the ads at least.. Dunno if they sell here anymore though
It’s still used in Saudi Arabia! A lot of people buy the bouillon cubes.
These are really HK authentic food where local goes. As a Hong Konger, i approved lol.
Welcome to Hong Kong :)
Great episode! I hope you’re speaking mandarin to some of the local folks. A lot of them understand.
A lot of them (so called " yellow-fellows") despise it also ( unfortunately) ... 😛
I WAS LITERALLY IN KWAI GONG ON SATURDAY STOPP
Amazing. Beautiful. Perfect.
I am so hungry!
I have been thinking for the whole week about emailing Blondie about Kwai Chung Plaza. But you already got it. Yeah great food, cheaper than the outside. And the fish catching game at the first floor, dont know if you have try that one.
Wow queen of plug
very traditional especially you go to Kwan Fung Food Court
Yummy
hmmm... Our of curiosity, I googled Knorr's place of origin.... It's where Derk is from: Germany...
Wow, you know Kwai Chung Plaza. It’s the place where local essences are kept.
