You just saved me a lot of money! I was ready to buy a new brush unit, and then I found your solution. Thank you!!!🎉
I just bought a Total Clean and used it today. It's so hard to push on my carpet and I was really upset because I did not want to end up with returning it. Luckily I found your video and watched. I opened the base and noticed that the brand-new, out-of-box vacumm did not have those clips properly engaged. Fixed it, tested it again, it ran well. Thank you!
This is a great discovery that you have made! It has always been an issue for us that the Dyson had "too much suction" when we were vacuuming throw-rugs in our house. I can see that this was the problem the entire time. The rubber skirt on the beater-bar attachment has had too much down-force when the clips on the edge are not properly engaged, resulting in too much suction. Thanks so much for posting this.
happy my video could help
We were about to return our new Dyson because it was impossible to push on carpets. Watched your video, corrected the problem and now it works great! Thanks so much!

I watched the video and you were so right! That little piece wasn't snapped in correctly, but now it is and is works just fine!!! Thank You!
I had hard push issue with new carpet and I just fixed it how you showed and it works perfectly!! Thank you so much for making this video.
glad I could be of help to someone through this video
@@LifeEntertainmentsOfficial Where exactly is the Plastic Air Diverter on the Dyson DC75, I looked at it upside down but I can not find it.
This is the only video that shows you how to fix the problem. The others ones don’t I watch them all…. Easy quick fix
Finally!! I was just about ready to get rid of the vacuum! Thank you so much such an easy fix it’s still hard to push but it’s like night and day.
happy for you, don't forget to subscribe
Holy crap, I had the same issue and was about to follow advice to drill holes into the plate. This clip fix was actually the solution! Thank you!
(It’s still a lot of suction and doesn’t glide like cheaper vacuums, but it originally just stuck into the carpet so you couldn’t push it forward at all, so drastic improvement.)
glad to hear you could fix it
Incredible! Thank you for the help, I was getting so frustrated when I ran the vacuum on low carpets and had no clue why it always got gummed up.
Genius! Thank you! I cleaned my Dyson and put it together wrong. Its been a struggle to vacuum since.
Thank you!!! Brand new out of box and I had this issue!!! You solved it for me 🤗
Excellent video. Fixed our Dyson! Thank you!
Thank you so much for having patience and figuring it out! Was my problem exactly!!!
We recently installed new carpeting that is very thick and plush. The Dyson Ball Animal Pro would not push at all and the beater bar would not turn. We had just purchased this Dyson. This fix worked! It takes a little muscle to push it on the carpet, but it pushes and the beater bar turns. Works great now.
Thank you! Worked very well. We just got high pile carpet installed, and my wife couldn't move the vacuum (yes, we've turned off the beater bar). After reinstalling correctly, it works much better!
This literally saved me a few hundred bucks on a cordless vacuum I was going to buy just to use on my rugs bc the Dyson would always get bogged down!! Thanks so much for this!🎉🎉
You’re welcome
Thanks for sharing this, i was gonna return my dyson but this video helped me a lot
Glad I could help
I think you made a good video. I tried your suggestion and the machine worked marginally better. But I think I had those clips in correctly as there are two others on the left and right. Still, after a 10 foot run on underlay carpet, the spinner stops. So I thought to raise the ‘flexi’ deck as I noted other machines have a red slider on the front of the head piece, probably to alleviate this issue. I tied a thin zip-tie on each of the lugs that allows the head to flex up and down, so lowering the deck and reducing the spinner effect. Result = much harder to push (full suction) and the spinner spins longer but not continuous like on hard pile carpet. So back to square one. Next, others have suggested removing the flexible rubber sleeve to reduce suction but seems to defeat the purpose of a strong vacuum.
Dyson website meanwhile sends you in circles. Reason, they don’t want to admit that they solved the problem with the red button on the front of the head and left others to deal with it.
Again, thanks for your short, clearly explained video. Worth subscribing.
This did the trick. All the others did a really really bad job of explaining. Buy a pvc pipe, drill holes... So simple! Thank you!!!
Thanks! Installed incorrectly at the factory! Almost returned it!
IT WORKED -- It took me a couple tries to get it. But IT WORKED - Thanks
Well, I tried this and it didn't work, bummer. However, as I continued to monkey around with it, I noticed that the half ball where a round filter is, was loose. This is the ball with the blue circle that you unscrew to get to that filter (hope this makes sense....). So I tightened it by turning that blue circle clockwise until it was snug and EUREKA! That fixed it! So, one more thing to try, if the original solution didn't work. I hope this can help someone else.
It just helped me! THANK YOU! We tried the original advice but it was the filter that was loose.
Thank you!!!
Thank you! The half ball was fine so I thought I was out of luck but I found later I hadn't fully locked in the filter! A blessing in disguise because I first finally discovered the source of the burning smell we'd been encountering for months -- just needed to take apart and fully clean out the ends of the rollers 🤯
Thank you! Such an easy fix.
you're welcome
Wow, great find (and mind)!!! Exactly the same issue, im having trouble getting the clip u mention into place, but thanks so much for sharing!!!
If it werent for videos, I would have sent this dyson back. So finicky. Thank you for this information ;)
Super helpful. Thanks!
Perfect solution, thanks for the insight!!

Thanks. This has frustrated me since we purchased the vacuum.
Glad I could help
I just did this and it worked ty!
That did fix my problem, my problem was the part that drops down which is connected to the rubber part. The fact that it drops down to be level with my thick carpet made the suction way to strong, so I zip tied it up!!
Yay!!!! I can finally clean my carpet!
Great find
Where exactly is the Plastic Air Diverter on the Dyson DC75, I looked at it upside down but I can not find it.
you're a champ bro
thanks
There are three plastic tap clips with hole. The middle one and the left and right. I did properly install and make sure all three clips are engaged. The issue is still not resolve. The brush bar will spin and then stop and then spin. Even if I don't put the vacuum to have contact with carpet on carpet, the brush bar will spin and then stop and then spin again...Filter under the blue side has been checked and is not loose either. Can it be the switch or something else?
Thank you i was able to fix the vacuum
Glad you could fix it, don’t forget to Subscribe to my channel plz
Awesome..this works😁 thank you
Welcome 😊
thank you for your informative video, can you tell us where you got your beautiful rug?
Is this only for the dyson ball? Does the V11 torque also have the same parts? My vacuum won’t go over any shaggy mats it sucks it in
Thank you for this.
My pleasure!
He's right it fixed mine. My Dyson might be newer and has 3 clips rather than just one. 1 clip in the middle and one on each side. My levers are grey. If all 3 are not clipped it will not work.
Thank you!
Thank you very much
You’re very welcome
A better solution is to remove the black sealing gasket installed on the top part of the cleaner head. Removing the gasket creates a small gap between the top and the bottom parts of the cleaner head, sufficient to allow some air to pass through and to prevent the cleaner head to get stuck on the carpet. This also allows a free movement of the bottom part of the cleaner head so it will operate without restrictions, as originally intended. This seems to be an over-engineering error from Dyson that created a perfect vacuum chamber on the cleaner head, instead of a working vacuum cleaner.
If it were supposed to be like that, they come from the factory like that. Still, it’s a good solution to the factory setting. Mine has been hard to push on my rug from the moment it was assembled out of the box.
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome
Thank you very much🙂
happy my video could help
Just bought the Ball 2 Animal Pro but unfortunately this didn't work for us. The tabs inside the bottom unit are different. The suction is WAY too strong on some of our low pile carpets.making it unusable. Going to call Dyson tomorrow and if they can't provide a solution I'm returning and getting the V15 Detect. More money but looks like it doesn't have those issues.
Thank you! I was ready to toss my vacuum in the trash and buy another brand!
Right the fix
Perfect fix. BUT there are 3 tabs. Video only shows the one in the middle. You might have to have someone help hold 1 or 2 while you push in the third. It's a little tough, but make sure you get all 3. By the way, the part is called the "sole plate".
Does this also work with the Multi Floor 2?
tbh i don't know, but feel free to give it a try
I did as you instructed did not help my Dyson total clean, vacuum cleaner still will not run across the rug
Horrible design issue. Thanks ! It’s difficult to tell if it’s in that plastic piece.
Mine has three clips and sure it makes it easier to push on the carpet but now it doesn't suck up dirty all that well. It's like it's almost too high. I feel like this is just a major issue Dyson needs to address
This entirely shifted me to Dyson from Shark.
Anyone tried with cordless devices?
I did and i don’t like it cause the battery runs out fast and takes long time to recharge
Still doesn’t work…
Same what’d you do
@@mahokie7 I broke down and emailed Dyson, long story short, there isn’t a problem with the vacuum it’s made to have that much suction, and suggested I buy another vacuum to vacuum the rugs that I can’t with my $500.00 vacuum. 😒
@@jessiewest7731 omg! Ridiculous. Great, bought it yesterday and can’t return. The literal point is to vacuum carpet and they effed it all up. Ugh. Thanks for the reply. Off waste more money for clean floors.

This fix didn't happen to work for me. But the link here is another possible solution. I have a Dyson Ball Animal 2 Origin. Its an older model but still is a great buy right now. 2/7/23.
Unfortunately, this did not work for ours 😏
M.
You do realize that already comes assembled from the factory. That isn’t something you “install”
Yeah . . it didn't work
This 'trick' didn't work for sh*t
Your carpet makes me dizzy...
lol I know too much art work
