    There are actually a total of 4 areas that are in the Sega Saturn version as well as a load of enemies and items that are not in the PSX version. The new areas are called Underground Garden, Cursed Prison, Soul Prison and Hell Garden. It was always interesting to me to go to where these areas would have been in the PSX version and see how they are different.

    4:02 fun fact, that Richter animation went on to be used in Portrait of Ruin for the DS. When playing Richter mode, you can use it by inputting right, down, left, right+Y, which activates a nifty little spin kick!

    The English voice acting for the priest is a faithful translation of what he says in the Japanese version 😮

    The red orb text is "item" while, the sinister face has the text "boss".

    One of my favorite games of all time, I love seeing videos like this. I also remember trying to find a way under that trap door at the castle entrance because I just knew there had to be something there.

    The miniboss data for the underground garden is in the final PS1 port, but there isn’t a sprite that can be used with it.

    The Japanese text at 4:46 under the red ball translates to “Item.” The text above the sinister looking circle in the next clip translates to “boss.”

      It looks like an orb similar to what floats above Richter when Alucard has the glasses on, given to him by Maria to be used for the Richter boss fight, right before the upside down castle. And of course another boss uses that orb to control Richter.

      I was also wondering and going to ask if you could show an example of how you got down to the save point on the Playstation 1 version, was your method new and different than the ones in the past? Is it an easier way?
      You said that you modified Alucard's Y axis, wish you had shown an example, I would like to explore that area better of the save point on the Playstation 1 version underground, to see if maybe there are tricks to get beyond that wall to the right of the save point, wasn't the Playstation 1 version after the Sega Saturn version and they felt that the new areas and enemies didn't fit with Castlevania so they didn't add them in the Playstation 1 version? That's something that was said online many years ago for reasons.
      Regardless, would still like to find out as to what's beyond that save point wall to the right of the room, and would like to find ways to get beyond it.
      I'm surprised no one has come out with a mod like they do all the time, though instead for removing the right wall in that underground save point, to patch into the game some form of mod like that.
      Any ideas on how to get down there easilly?
      Without worrying about not getting back out, maybe after having the double jump / bat to fly out when you get down there.
      I wonder how one would go about modding the Playstation 1 version in a rom to remove that right wall as I'm very interested in finding out what's over there on the Playstation 1 version.
      That would be cool, add extra rooms, though I could probably program the areas, it would be difficult to program all the moves and enemies though, not impossible to do up to a point for the enemies and moves, though the exploration would be kind of easy to use the backgrounds and create new backgrounds with objects and tiles, and new rooms, extended hallways / rooms, and extra environments using the Unreal Engine 5.

      @@gameresearch9535 The Sega Saturn version was released after the PS1 version by Konami but without the primary developer of Symphony of the Night. That version added 2 extra areas in both the normal castle and their inverted versions. It also had an extra items, weapons, abilities, a playable Maria (and a new boss fight with her) and several extra exclusive songs that are quite good. But it also introduced slowdown and longer loading screens as well. The original creator did not like the Saturn version of the game. He used the PS1 version as the base for the PSP/PS4 port years later. It did re-introduce a playable Maria (and her boss fight) but it was a different version of Maria. And none of the other additions made it into this port.
      As for glitching under that drawbridge/sewer entrance? It is possible as Alucard but difficult to perform. And as seen in the video there isn’t much down there. But curiously it does update the map correctly and the hatch stays open with an animation so it is implied that it was intended to be an additional area (and was so in the Saturn version). It is much easier to glitch into with Richter.

    I just did a playthrough of SOTN on the PS4 (Castlevania Requiem) and the Priest actually does recite the Sign Of The Cross in this version.

    I remember hearing an alternate ending once. Something about Maria getting possessed, and Alucard after what may have been a fight.

    1:54 I am surprised the Quality Hack did not restore this. Sounds nice. More soothing than the PSP version too.
    I really enjoy him saying "spirit" instead of "ghost" even if I do understand that it makes much more sense to say the latter due to the year the game takes place in.

    another secret was secret elevator in outer wall zone that only works in normal castle,but the unifinished one (for me) undiscovered secret was the track "silence" no one really knows if it is geattable in the game,but is still in there,in music sound test of master librarian...

    You can get slogra and gaibon to spawn where you first meet death. Also get hit enough times with a medusa head and you can turn into a stone Gargoyle.

    They actually broke the ”impossible skip” in speedrunning, skeleton ape bomber bridge. Connect controller 2 and blow it up

    In the versions where you can play as Maria (mainly in the Saturn and the PS4 release, not sure if in the hidden PSP version) once you exit the entrance area of the castle and reach the Alchemy Lab, the hatch in the castle entrance opens when you return an you can access the hidden area to defeat the secret boss.

      The hidden area is only in saturn version. The PSP/PS4 versions don’t have them.

      A memory modifier such as Cheat Engine or a GameShark would do the trick!
