Pro tip: Some pilots also like to film their videos at a higher framerate, but post the video at exactly HALF of that framerate (Ex. Film at 60fps, but post in 30fps). This can allow you to have less motion blur while maintaining a more "cinematic" framerate. Try it out!
I've noticed better results with 60fps&1/120 shutter in reelsteady just because vibrations and quick turns cause more motion blur artifacting at 30fps. You can always add motion blur in post with davinci so I recommend you try that combo. It does require one additional step for editing but I'd love to here your thoughts on this.
Great Video 👌
Thanks Matt,
The video was really helpful and in just the right amount of detail in my opinion. Especially the contents of the second half was the kind of thing a pilot might mention somewere on CZcams in a vlog as scattered information but having it all in one place is really handy if (when!) I ever need to come back to it. I don't think any other videos quite like it exist at the moment so you've just done a huge favour to a lot of people.
Thanks again :)
P.S. Elisha (the male version) is pronounced as shown here: czcams.com/video/GWbLSz4EESI/video.html
Same as 30 fps and 1/120 shutter. Why stick to 180° shutter rule and break it in an extra step when you could go with 270° in the beginning?
@@robert-gille Good point. Definitely worth more testing. I'll will try that out. This would be useful for GoPro's 9 and earlier due to the 4:3 resolution/fps restrictions.
Man, I got into FPV probably about 4 months ago, and I feel like every time I've had an issue or a question, you've released a video explaining it so well.
I literally got my GoPro 10 yesterday and boom.
Love the content, and love the no BS and concise way you explain things.
Thanks from random follower.
Matt is onto it!!!!
Another banger! Locking your iso to 100-100 is the single biggest thing you can do to make your footage look better.
+1
i dont have a fpv drone or gopro but the thumbnail made me want to watch the video
Holy cow, this couldn’t have been better timing. I just got a GoPro 10 a couple days ago for FPV and was thinking about looking up this exact question on CZcams. Thank you Matt!!
I got my hero 10 yesterday and couldn’t find a video on this love your videos!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video Matt! I've been doing film work for a long time and still love a well-made how to video to sharpen up my skills as technology advances.
I was recently watching gimbal God, he has videos about snowboarding that I have also been applying to my fpv. He suggests to 4 times the shutter speed when using hypersmooth.
All love and 🙏 thanks again.
Although this is something I already know, it was nice to see it from your perspective and I like your explanation. I feel like the hardest part is not the shots or even flying, but learning how to edit to the full potential of the video. Keep them tips coming.
Hey man, love your videos. You helped start my journey in cinematic fpv, please keep the content coming
You are the number one Matt! Nobody explains like you. Maybe you just missed talking about other gopro models like 9, 8 or even 7, but I think your informations are useful for these models too! Thank you!
Another great video, glad that you explain it in the easy way!
Hey Matt! This is always a great place to spend some time. And you are right, I will have to watch this a few more times!
Awesome tips, thank you😊🤙🏻
Yes.
Absolutely and totally approved.
I might have to watch this again.
Thanks Matt
Dude deserves more subscribers. What a well detailed video. Thanks man
Omg I have been waiting for this video, I felt it coming and I was right. Thank you so much!
This is a super informative video for my gopro thanks I’m a big fan of your channel 🤩.
Thank you for the informative tips settings matt love your videos ❤
Amazing video. I already knew everything about cams. Thanks for the Skip note.
Thanks for this. Flying my first gig tomorrow chasing a brand new street bike for my local power sports shop! Going to be using this info!
what a fantastic video. thank you Matt!
Thanks man, much appreciated!
This is the video I have been waiting for! Thank you for the insight. It would also be awesome to see a short video of you in post adjusting a videos image quality to your liking (color grading, sharpening, etc.)
Amazing as always bro 👏
Good stuff as allways man love the high tier content
Super helpful thank you!
The video I needed. Thank you
Been a lurker on your channel for a while, but I liked and subscribed after this video. Thanks for your hard work!
Thanks guy! You create realllly good content for us beginners.
This is EXACTLY what I needed. I’m a total noob when it comes to cameras and drones and this makes me understand my GoPro a lot better. Thank you
Killer job on this. I've watched alot of videos but this one I can understand. Thanks
You are a very good youtuber. You have the craft of pacing, communication, keeping attention etc. That's its own skill, and you've got it.
Długo czegoś takiego szukałem. Dzięki!
Amazing guide
Thanks Matt!
Matt, i cant thank you enough for putting out this particular video, it means a lot
@TEXT ME ON TELEGRAM @mattpochwat appreciated Matt
I literally subscribed solely based on the the respect I have for you just posting your settings at the beginning. Still watched the whole video. Thanks you sir.
Nice video and thanks again
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks for the settings at the beginning
Thx for these presets man 👌🏼
Thanks so much this is my second season and I just bought a gopro hero 9! FYI I apologize in advance I'm kinda a groupie I bought basically all the quads you have because I value your opion so much! Just finished my johnny fpv rig but I used tmotor pacer v3 1950kv and a dji mamba f722 mk2 55amp stack! Having these settings for the gopro has helped me so much along with this video to understand the gopro and help me to capture the best quality videos!!! Sorry for the long winded comment but....your awesome and do so much for our community and I want to thank you very much! Happy flying and have a wonderful week 😊
Great Video! Another helpful GoPro Tip is shoot with Native color balance. GoPros limit colors to achieve color temps so "Native" lets all the color and light the sensor is receiving be recorded. It helps with low light grain and color accuracy. Note it will make red look more orange but there are LUTS to fix it.
Great video!
Matt...agree with most of your settings (nicely done!). Always enjoy seeing what settings others are using. Regarding seeing what 'frame-rate' some filmed at (4:51) folks just need to be aware that it also depends on the GEAR ICON set in the lower right hand corner of the CZcams video. If your not selecting the highest option available then you could be looking looking at a lower video resolution. Frame-rates look correct but video resolution may be off. Not sure what your using for editing but worth mentioning (as I ran into this myself the other week). If shooting in 5K/30fps, then give PROXIES a try (if using Adobe Premiere Pro). Had zero issues using PROXY files for my 5K edits. Premiere makes this so easy now in 2022. Again, nicely done and explained!
Hey man. Great video as always - a great insight into settings I've steered clear of changing for fear of messing things up! I have a question relating to the exposure setting and choosing the right ND filter. I'm familiar with the exposure triangle from my photography days, but how do you choose which ND filter to use? In a DSLR you'll have a measure of exposure to work from before you take the shot, so do you take some test footage pre flight to see which is best or do you have any rule of thumb you work from?
I watched your video to not break your average view only because your intro and because you respect time of your viewer
Thank you so much. lots of love and respect.
Hey! thanks for videos like this, they are very helpful! maybe could be good to add that if you shot in 4:3 linear you wont be able to process it on reelsteady, you should put it on 16:9 from the start.
Great video
What i want, in 15 Seconds video information. Best settings video ever !!!
Nice job 👍
Great vid
Haha great intro! I didn't watch the video because I use similar settings. But just love how you make your videos!
Well explained :)
My man dropped the sales pitch in the first 3 seconds 😱… now I have to watch out of respect, you got me. Well done.
Hi Matt!,
Love your channel! Lots of really useful stuff you´ve giving us here! Kudos to you!
Ive just got one question, regarding the low sharpening option on the GoPro; Why have it at low, whe you need to sharpen (And then I assume also lengthen your rendertime in post), when you can have it sharpened to begin with. What am I missing here?
Thanks in advance!
Your videos are so usefull and straight forward. Thanks!
One question: why do u use Reelsteady if the GoPro 9/10 support built in stabilizations?
It makes it an extra proces..
I am into all this…. Using Hero8. I have been experimenting with some pro
mist filters. Excellent video for all levels. There is a PM variable ND and mist available have yet to try that but it could be good!!!
7:24 - Very interesting bookshelf! Did Amazon Books put you up to this!?! :-) - Very eclectic collection. I feel like my own bookshelf needs updating...
Any tips and tricks ima open book iv watched you from your first you got really good and your video and flying is gotten good 👍
thank you so much.. I got it 😉🤙🏼
Great video man. I have my first paid gig coming up trying to get my gopro game straight
Great video. Now we need something on how to adjust things in post processing for amateurs.
Awesome video!
If you had the gopro 11 back when you shot the hotels, what would you set the gopro 11 with?
Thanks 👍👍
Well explained! What do you think of gryoflow? Can gryflow match ReelSteadyGo for the stabilisation?
Great Video!!
What are your thoughts about the gopro 11 vs 10
Ive been into fpv for a lot longer than you and yet I keep ending up here learning stuff. lol Great video!
Great video, Thank you, What is the best GoPro Angle for FPV to recording. 45??
Dam bro most people won’t understand how long that video must’ve taken to make. So much valuable information packed in here 🙌🏻
Tks alot 🙏🏾
Great video! I’ve been following you for a while and bought the cinelog 25 with the naked hero 8! Question: I started flying cinematic where I fly indoor/outdoor in the same shot. Problem is that the image is underexposed once I get indoors. (ie flying through a door or window) in this case would you keep the shutter to auto?
What do you think of the eachine novice 4 Fpv drone bundle? Is it good or bad for a newbie
Great vid. Subd
Appreciate it!
nice vid men
For white balance and colour do you use grey card, and colour checker?
How about your Premier Export settings for CZcams and FB post!? Would love to see a video covering that topic.
I made one a while back! Everything will still be relevant today. czcams.com/video/Z6skKsKj42k/video.html
showed the settings in the first five settings, what a real gangsta
A lot of times I'll do 1/ 24 when flying straight and fast down trail or thru trees close to ground to try and make it look faster.
I struggle trying to get mix between different areas. Having one area come a lil dark and another one a lil blown out. I worry with iso range it lock on to sky or something
Personally, I leave my Shutter Speed at "AUTO" and the footage looks just fine. Same with White Balance but it's a personal preference. I just don't notice enough of a difference to keep messing with those settings. At least not on the GoPro10.
@@RGMGFitness depends video ur taking. If I leave it auto. Sometimes drone will point more up toward sky or sky and everything I would like in flim goes black. People talk about white balance shift mid video but I rarely see it very often. But video not changing white balance mid video makes it easier to edit post production.
Yea there r times I leave everything on auto. Wish more of my cameras did like gopro and offer an at least iso range. 100 to 400 so I stopped it going any higher.
Wish gopro made a lighter camera too
The 180 rule really only applies when you are slowing down the recorded footage in post. If you were to playback in real-time then you would want about 1/48th regardless. If you were to playback 120fps at 60fps then you would want 1/120 and if you were to play back that same 120fps at 30fps then you would want 1/240. Gerald Undone has a nice video on this. But then if you are using in camera stabilization you probably want as high of a shutter speed as you can so the stabilization works well.
@Matt Pochwat thanks for the video. Do you know if the ss can go below the fps on auto? Because you cannot set the ss lower than the fps in manual mode, so I dont know what the gopro is doing on auto. Can it set it lower than the fps?
lol just saw you were at the monkeyvault parkour center! awesome :)
Im planning on using Gyroflow. Should I therefor enable hypersmooth or not?
Nice one but when i use 30 FPS and 1/40 Shutter with ND filter iam getting too much motion blur?
How is it going?. Matt, that's fantastic recording,:)
You should make a video on color correction
What spec computer would you recommend for no limits with editing?
Matt, you're the only guy who is smart enough to understand my question. When i fly fpv with my gopro 9 i fly upside down or knife edge through trees, but my gopro only films right side up. I can't lock the orientation to the orientation of the camera. It always films right side up...auto rotation. I've tried landscape mode, lock landscape, lock orientation, i even had it working for a minute but as soon as i started recording i would not show that the drone was upside down,, and when i do a roll it just bobbles and doesn't show the drone rolling,,,, how do you lock the screen during record or not record,,,I am frustrated they are making it so hard.
Can you use GyroFlow with Go Pro and does it matter if you have Hypersmooth on or off?
Great info, now you need to do a post editing video. :)
Do these settings work for indoor shots (minus the ND filer?) like the restaurant you filmed?
yes, 100%
@@MattPochwat Thank you!
Great video!
Lately I have been looking into starting my own drone/FPV footage company, but I’m uncertain about what exact quads to get. Right now, I got a 5" with air unit, and I just bought a new Johnny FPV special edition frame for it. Then I have been thinking about getting a Gopro hero 10, for the 5", and a Cinelog 35 for both indoor and outdoor shoots. And then a Cinelog 25 and a naked Gopro 8 to use with. I have got a lot of inspiration from you, and I would just like to hear what you think about this setup, and whether I should get the 4s or 6s version of both Cinelogs.
Really appreciate your video, keep up the good work :)
Build a terraplane.. maybe a slam squirt too tighter indoor shots.
I have the CiniLog 25 with naked Hero have yet to work out how to attach standard threaded filters to the naked GoPro. The 35 can probably handle a full size GoPro. Depends on what you are doing. What I love about the CiniLog 25 with a small battery 450mah is that the entire setup is so light that when you crash you are unlikely to break anything as it is all so light.
@@flowstate_link yea u use my 95x v3 indoors and stuff. (Not as good as cinelog25) nice have something small and light some times
@@divingfalconfpv4602 yes you can hit people and things at speed with low risk
I am keen to try the CiniLog 35 I bet it is good but it will be a heavier system
Which GP 10 mount are you using with Polar pro ?
@Matt Pochwat Did you ever experience some microvibrations for Gopro 4k Footage after stabilizing it with reelsteady ? You recommend to you for instance 4K, 30FPS and Shutter 1/60 - With double Frame rate I have always issues when flying slowly or having low light conditions. I tryed to use 4K, 30 FPS and 1/120 Shutter so using the frame rate 4x -> That made it a bit better but still not 100 fixed. Any recommendations?
This only appear when using 4k
The same problem and with Gopro 8 at 4K res. :(
What do u think, Low or Med sharpening? I mean more sharpness is great for Instagram
Thank you 3 times
dude grew like crazy
Hello, will 25fps filmed at 180 bit rate at 4k shuttle speed 1/160. Will these settings stop blur? Best regards
Ok but do you shoot in 30fps and edit on a 24frame timeline or do you edit in the timeline of what you shot it at?
What do you think of shooting in 8:7 5K and cropping it in post production?
