    I have a 2017 fe 501 that I went completely overboard with engine mods. I recently had it dyno'd and it's putting out 67 hp at the rear wheel. It's a monster...

      Bruce, I just bought my buddys very clean 2016 501s and am underwhelmed with the power delivery. The fuel was tuned very clean with a removable 02 sensor/programmer, but the bike just lacks snap. Is there an ignition mod that can be done to wake this bike up?

    • @brucefile7430
      @brucefile7430 Před 2 lety +3

      @Jason Kanawyer yeah, that's exactly what happened to me. When I first rode my bike I was so disappointed with the power output. You should go with the vortex ecu. It's probably the single best mod you can do to your bike. It's a bit pricey but worth it.

    I must be dead inside because I’ve read so many complaints about vibrations on this bike and it’s never bothered me. I have an FE501S and do 150-175 mile days in the desert riding all kinds of terrain and I have no complaints. Stock cockpit, foot rests, seat, etc…. Just balance my wheels and I run mousse front and rear on Kenda DT Parkers. Also ride plenty of single track and on the road occasionally. Will do 80 on the highway no issues

    Thanks for sharing. Great video. I have the 2017 model and my biggest frustration with it has been trying to keep the rear plate mount and turn-signals from self-destruction under hard ride. The stocker got sucked inside the rear wheel. I then put a Sicass racing mount on there and the signals vibrated themselves right out of their mounts. At $30 bucks for replacements and no help from Sicass, I ditched the whole tailight/license plate thing and went with a fender only. I don't ride on the road much anyway, and this is a good solution for me. I went with all smog removal, JD tuner and FMF silencer and it really woke the bike up. Richer is better! Like you, I ride all types of terrain, including motocross, and this bike is a great bike for a lot of different types of riding. I have a 350 as well, and that's another story!

      Awesome to hear your experiences with your bike! Yes I had that happen too, the stock mount getting caught up there. I now am using a tc250 rear mud flap with the license mounted it and signals and it's been perfect! Thanks for watching! Thread locker is now my best friend!

    I have a 2018 fe 501 and I put on an FMF 4.1 slip on and I get a lot of flame out on deceleration I guess I am running to lean. I do all the mods myself so I guess I need a tuner. Which model did you put on your bike? Was it easy to install and tune? Do you think removing the vapor recovery system will help? or will the bike just run even leaner?

    • @DualsportDisport
      @DualsportDisport  Před 2 lety

      The vapor recovery system removal will have absolutely no effect on power. The one I have is a Dobach tuner, mine is the one from Best Dual Sports. Thanks for watching! Check out my other videos too there's tons of info in them

    Hey man, I was curious if you ever got around to getting your fe501 on a dyno to see about fueling in relation to the piggyback tuner. Let me know because I’m curious to find out what the best setting are. Although I have an fe450 not a 501, i would guess they’re very similar. Love your videos by the way

    • @DualsportDisport
      @DualsportDisport  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey thanks bro! So I haven't gotten it on the dyno but I have talked to him. He said that he would have to actually weld a hole in the exhaust to put an O2 sensor in for tuning and he's really busy right now so I haven't rushed to it. But on my settings I'm running all of them on the plug and play tuner at 5.5 and that's with the reads removed and a muffler on. Hope this helps

  • @roycemartin9068
    @roycemartin9068 Před 3 lety +2

    Question, on the piggyback tuner, is richer better (my fe450 has reed cage removed and exhaust screens removed) or is there a point to where it can be too rich? Or is it just a matter of finding the sweet spot through trial and error? And if it’s a trial and error thing, what characteristics are you looking for when deciding whether or not to make an adjustment? I’ve tended to go richer due to heat and lubrication concerns. Would love to hear back. Love the channel

    • @roycemartin9068

    • @DualsportDisport
      @DualsportDisport  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Royce,
      As of right now I'm trying to mainly guess. I need to get it on a dyno and have someone specifically tune it but here's what I do:
      With the reeds removed and the stock muffler on I use it on the stock plug and play setting. With the Sxf exhaust muffler I run during track riding I will richen it to about 5.5 on all 3, low mid high and leave the throttle response settings alone. This seems to be slightly rich, but like you said: better rich than lean. When I had the engine apart I took the head to an engine guy and he said "looks like it was running good".
      Hope this help

    • @Justen1980
      @Justen1980 Před 2 lety

      It goes back to the ancient Romans, the letter Q was always followed by UI, UE, UA...The letter Q is basically a hard O to be combined with these vowel sounds. The V sound in Nordic is derived from the U of the ancient Indo-European language e.g. Hus quar na = Hus qvar na, but English speakers want to pronounce the V as the beginning of the syllable i.e. Hus qua var na, because in English the letter V does not combine with a previous consonant to form a syllable, so Hus Qvar Na is not a natural pronunciation for English speakers.
