    I was ten years old attending Junior 3! Our 29 year old classroom teacher Mr Flannery, played this to us with the school's record player in class! He wrote all the lyrics on the blackboard, and we were told to copy it onto our literature exercise books! We were very grateful! HAPPY DAYS!

      Yeah this is just the sort of pop music we need, a middled aged toff in a satin jacket reading from a childrens book. Chosen to be a single on the BBC playlist at the time, by a bunch of people in their fifties who had absolutely no business being gatekeepers of what people should be listening to. If you think this is less manufactured than the crap that's out there now, you're deluded.

    I was brought up on this, on tv. I knew the chorus in my head…. My second name is the same as one of the characters first name, so i used to march round singing it as a child i was born 1970……
    Utterly fantastic-love it…..
