An organ builder should take this and keep it in storage until a home can be found.

It is a lovely set of stops. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to hear the ensemble. The noisy tremulant is nothing to worry about. That can certainly be tamed. I imagine they rarely used it, so it probably just needs a little love.

A fine looking compact organ in good tune, I hope it can be saved. If the chapel is being converted into a residence, the organ could be left in place as a historic feature, even if the new owner can't play it there is likely to be a future visitor who can. There are quite a few churches closing & being sold off for redevelopment in Wales, one in Ferryside, West Wales, that was sold last year had a Norman & Beard organ that was built around 1910 that looked in excellent condition, lets hope that one got saved.

It’s a sad sign of the times when so many churches are closing. I drive past redundant churches everyday and I always wonder what came of the organ. Hopefully a home can be found for this one 👍🎹

Please do not let this be organ be destroyed. Sadly so many established Churches have money problems. But I would suggest the details are sent to Boggis & Briscoe of Diss Norfolk as they are very good at finding homes for redundant organs.

Quite right Richard - the “biggie” you mentioned is in a tiny village in the Westerwald in Germany - Gackenbach - I have featured it many times on my channel and even recorded a cd there. It’s one of the best sounding English organs anywhere outside the UK. The Nelson pipe work is of astounding quality. Let’s get this little gem saved!

@@FraserGartshore hi Fraser! I knew of Gackenbach but couldn't remember the name. I think I was aware of it before you featured it because I'm an insufferable know-it-all... I've never seen a Nelson in person (being a southerner, albeit the son of a Dundonian!), so good to hear you rate them. Immediately after I wrote the comment above, I emailed Krawinkel with a link to this video in the hope they could do something with this organ. I've heard nothing back, other than an autoresponder.

What a cracking little instrument, both in terms of specification and aesthetics. Some nice strings and the reed, plus having a balanced swell pedal makes it more versatile than many similar instruments that churches make do with. All the best in finding a new home and yes there have been a couple of organs which have found a new home in the US. Sadly we have quite a few mothballed in NZ as earthquakes are disastrous for pipe organs. Our Wellington City Cathedral pipe organ was trashed in a medium earthquake while other pipe organs close by were undamaged. The vestry were faced with huge rebuild costs with the risk that a further earthquake would destroy it again.
So the vestry chose to replace the organ with a large custom built Viscount digital organ which would be far more robust in any future shake. Added to that digital organs need no tuning and very little maintenance which is a substantial cost saving.

    • @OrganicVisitations

If Mr. Martin McLachlan wishes, we can give this organ a new life in our congregation in Brazil. We recently received a piano that will be restored and used for music classes, and for some time we have been looking for an organ donation, but It's not easy to find. I'm not sure about the transportation costs, but we would make great use of it with choral music and traditional hymns, as it should be.

Another great video. I fear the cost of dismantling and re-building may well be the death knell of this lovely instrument. For what it would cost to move this organ, one could buy a fairly good electronic organ. Maybe the lovely decorative facade pipes could be incorporated elsewhere if it proves too expensive to move the whole thing.

@OrganicVisitations There's an youtube channel called the Pettricks - a family who are restoring a chateau and a convent in France. They were offered for free an organ in St. John's Cathedral in Norwich. It was to be installed in the convent Chapel with the proviso that it be restored to playing condition. Remarkably, they did it, only finishing in time for this Christmas gone. There are a whole series of videos showing the whole project from dismantling in St. John's to it being played in its new home. It was absolutely inspiring and it shows that it can be done. I do hope you find a home for this lovely instrument. I've subscribed to your channel.

Just a couple of examples here we have a Lutheran church with small attendance of 20 and just a few really still know well the hymns, while a little north in Arroyo Grande a Methodist church I was in when younger, a pretty large nice building, both electronic organs. I would think a little heritage in the form of that organ to help the younger generation learn history of Christianity would be welcome somewhere around here.
