    I like the santa fe a lot, but it seems that you can get a lot more bang for your buck when buying the metroliner (Found a full metroliner set for 200$, probably could get a santa fe engine and a single car with no track for 250-300$)

    Hello, BrickTsar!
    I've watched this video a couple times before. As always, you did a good job on this LEGO review/comparison!
    For a long time, I have been wanting the very well-known LEGO set 10020, Santa Fe Super Chief Locomotive. Unfortunately, it's very expensive to get sealed in its box. Even incomplete versions of the set break the bank! There's one that's incomplete on BrickLink that costs as much as LEGO set 75105, Millennium Falcon!
    So my question is, how would I be able to get this LEGO set complete, and in at least descent condition, without having to spend a lot of money? If you can't answer this question right away, you can always do a BAT on it. If you do a BAT on this, I would like you to include the BNSF diesel locomotive in the video, which I am also wondering about.
    Also, of all the retired LEGO themes from the past, which one do you miss the most? I wasn't born at the time, but I will still say that I miss the LEGO MY OWN TRAIN theme. It is unfortunate that LEGO has stopped producing LEGO train sets with only a single train car, for those people who can't afford ready-to-run LEGO train sets.
    Have a great day, sir!

      @JamesBoxxy Před 6 lety +1

      BrickTsar Thanks for your response, love the videos! Seeing as I have one of the originals that I bought when they were selling off stock at Legoland Windsor, I just dug it out the shoe box it lives in! On measuring, I imagine they would place the battery box where the model of the engine is, change the roof design to incorporate the IR receiver, suggest mounting the PF motor at the rear, remove the front coupling all together (due to there not being a suitable piece since the coupling change), and do a certain amount of redesign to the front.

    BrickTsar do you ever put two 9 volt motors on two separate engines that are connected to make them last longer and able to pull more cars like in the real world or is it useless?

    • @BrickTsar
      @BrickTsar  Před 8 lety

      I have not personally done that - yet. But I have seen it done a lot at trai and LEGO shows. On my Horzion Express I run 2 motors but only one in each engine

    • @johnringgenberg662
      @johnringgenberg662 Před 8 lety

      Do you think that I could do it with my Santa Fe Super Chief train to put less stress on the one motor I am ruining with it.

    • @Giraffiti
      @Giraffiti Před 7 lety

      John Ringgenberg, don't do it, you're not ruining the motor and it's not taking any stress. If you put two 9V motors, each motor will only run at 4.5V which will degrade the motor.

    • @donm2255
      @donm2255 Před rokem +2

      @@Giraffiti Just in case anyone sees this comment going forward, two 9v motors running on a single track run in parallel. They don't split the voltage--they get the same amount of DC voltage which is usually less than 9v unless you are at full throttle. The variable voltage is how the speed of the motor is controlled. Both motors do share the current, but the regulator supplies enough amperage to run multiple motors.
      I do recommend running two 9v motors on these heavier trains. They struggle going around the tight radius track with the added friction. Two motors saves a lot of wear and tear on the plastic gears in the motors. The dc motor isn't really an issue, its the cheap little plastic gears that suffer when you push them hard.
      In the event you run more than two motors, the issue would be with the transformer overheating. There are videos to show how to increase the power output of the transformer with upgraded components. But unless you are running 4 or more motors for long periods of time, then the stock Lego transformer should be fine.

    • @donm2255
      @donm2255 Před rokem

      As an update to my comments, I run two of the Santa Fe's each with a 9V motor. They run smother and handle Lego's really tight curved track a lot better. With the two motors, they also can pull several cars.
      I also use two 9v motors to push an Emerald Night. I built a matching box car for the motors to push the locomotive and pull a bath car, three passenger cars and an observation car. I had to add about 1/2lb of weight in the box car for traction. But it pushes the Emerald and pulls the 5 additional cars. But that is pushing the limits of Lego's 9v motor.

Quite a weird conspiracy, was interested because Beyond the Brick visited the vault and found the BSNF.
