  • Shelling in South Carolina has been so much fun! The weather was not fantastic but I found so many beautiful treasures and had the beach almost to myself! Folly Beach is a place I will definitely return to in the future!

    Love to see so many live shells on the beach, and you found some lovely olives I am a micro shell collector myself. So when you got to the shell bed I was looking for some neat shells there is so much beauty in them. Wonderful video and what a sweet hubby to get your shoes for you have a blessed day

      Thank you so much! This was fun shelling - many many live shells to admire and let live ❤️ Yes, my hubby is very supportive, especially when I do things like leaving my shoes behind😜

    I was just on Folly this past weekend and there were no shells at all, so I was surprised to see what you found. As an avid seller with precious & few chances to go to the beach (I am landlocked in Tennessee!), I swore I wouldn't go back there because I had such terrible luck. Gotta bite the bullet & make the longer drive to Florida next time!

      Oh nooo! I am so sorry that you had no luck this time! It would be a hard decision since you have such a long drive! I can tell you, unfortunately, that shells are sooo fickle! Even in Sanibel where the shells are usually abundant, I have been there when nothing is rolling in. It's so frustrating when you are only there for a short time! I have a tip that may or may not help. If you are flexible with your trip planning, try to hit the beach at the full moon phase. Check tide charts for the super low tides. Also if you are really flexible, go a few days after a big storm. The waves need to be churning! But then again, sometimes on the East Coast when the waves are churning too hard, it wipes the beach clean. I think this is why I need to move to the beach when I retire! More chances for good luck! I hope your next trip is better! 🐚🐚🐚

    Enjoyed the video. Folly Beach is beautiful but I have never had luck shelling there. I would have took me a gallon zip loc and crammed it full of those little shells at 8:22. Would be beautiful in a jar. Love those micro shell piles. Precious live shells! Thanks for sharing your adventure.

      Thank you! It was a wonderful beach to explore 😊 You know, I have a lifelong friend who lives in Australia and when I visited many years ago, she explained to me that it wasn't legal to remove any shells from the beach. Is that still true? There actually weren't a lot where we were, but there were a precious few.

      @@TravelingTreasureFinder I live on the Gold Coast. There are just basic shells where we are, nothing out of the ordinary. Clams and scallops mostly. I haven't seen any signs saying you can't take those. I'd say there are protected reefs for sure. I am from New Zealand and have yet to see more of Australia. I gifted my large shell collection to a close friend in NZ and so I'm starting from scratch again. There is an Australian shelling channel. I'll find the link and post below. He finds lots of interesting shells in his region. Australia is a beautiful country as is New Zealand. I get to travel the world vicariously via CZcams and enthusiastic shellers. I also love the rock hounds. Agates, crystals, etc. Most of them Americans. Amazing content. I enjoy your channel.

      @@rachelleandrichard My friend lives in Kiama, south of Sydney. Are you familiar? Australia is so beautiful! I can't wait to get back there someday and we plan to go to NZ as well! Now that I am moving back to Michigan, I will be doing more rock hunting on the channel. No shells in MI! I wish I knew more about the names of rocks - I do know a little, but sometimes I wish I had paid better attention in my college geology class!! 🤣

    I love folly going back this weekend. Got my shell book to identify the ones I never remember the names of. I'm in upstate SC so folly is only 2.75 hour drive and I don't get to go as much as I'd love too. Really wish they could stop people from graffiti painting down on morris Island end though. Don't mind the them doing it on the paved path to the beach but the driftwood trees on that end of the beach should be off limits. I'll keep my comments about the upbringing and mentality of anyone that would do that to myself. I hate it though would love to catch them doing it. Great video . The park end us where you can find alot of and pretty big shark teeth. Where the ocean and river meet.

    • @TravelingTreasureFinder
      @TravelingTreasureFinder  Před rokem

      I really enjoyed it there! It was too bad about the graffiti - I don't understand that either. However, I am an artist and I sometimes admire the creativity - just wish it didn't have to deface in order to express itself. That's why art stores sell a lot of paper and canvas! 😜 Dang, I wish I knew about the sharks teeth! I guess I didn't hike quite far enough! next time for sure (it is past where the graffiti is? I turned around right where the graffiti area was) I really hope to go back there! Enjoy your visit! Thank you for watching and for the comment!😊
