You know how they hype the rain in California. 8 lived there for 15 years. Every downpour was, "The storm of the century ". It's pretty annoying, but hype generates interest, which improves ratings, which means the local stations can charge more for advertisements. A tree will blow down in Marin and every TV station will broadcast from it to hype the storm damage. I live in NYC now. We have real weather, but the hype isn't that bad unless it's a huge blizzard or tropical storm. Out in CA, they call it a storm every time it rains. Here it's just rain, not usually called a storm.
