I have a story vaguely similar to the Witch story.
My parents have a 'cute' story about the night of my conception. They were at a hotel while on vacation, and they'd remembered the time for breakfast differently, so they made a bet - if my dad was right, I'd be a boy, if my mom was right, I'd be a girl. My dad won the bet, and I was indeed assigned male at birth.
I absolutely hate this story because, while I rationally realize that the bet had nothing to do with my physical characteristics... it sure feels like my dad's stupid competitive nature magically swapped my body leaving my poor brain going "WTF!"

fyi: I used Alice as a name online for ages as a persona however it's not actually the name I chose, and around 5 years later, still stuck with the name I went with. It came naturally unfortunately quite a few people make the mouse joke because of it.. But hey, at least we get along.
as for twitter (x) I can confirm is pretty rampant with transphobia and overall homophobia etc. The policy of not deadnaming and misgendering was reinstated secretly recently.. But it won't change much honestly. I don't use it, used to just scroll as a guest sometimes but you can't even do that now without an account and under current circumstances that's not happening.

The pub witch thing is awesome. You have 50% chance to get it right regardless (assuming the rates are the same for trans men and trans women). If you get it wrong for a cis kid, everyone will forget and move on. If you get it wrong for a trans kid, some people will remember it and be like "lol turns out she was wrong". But if you get it right for a trans kid, everyone will be like "OMG". So basically there are no downsides.
