Recently did a hunt for the "shiny" partner in the Let's Go Demo after seeing this and honestly was probably the most fun I've had with a hunt. It was short but thrilling especially after seeing it with my own eyes and having videos and photo of it. Honestly worth it imo!

Wow, this absolutely made my day. I was still in high school when my friend and I found that shiny Eevee in the Best Buy Kiosk, I liked everything you did with our video, and I guess we did leave a little mark in the shiny hunting community, thanks for recognizing us!

@@creepywaffles4783 Interesting enough, that day I had went to the Best Buy just to see if the Pokeball+ Could connect to the kiosk, to my surprise it did! I did a few tests seeing if you can somehow take a pokemon from the kiosk through the pokeball. It did not work, and I only booted the demo one more time to see If I would get Lets Go Pikachu, and got surprised by that Shiny! I did not think much of it at the time, and I kept playing till the timer ran out. Im glad I recorded it though!

@@Testostyronneyeah in USUM there's a QR code for a partner cap Pikachu that can be shiny. It was never intended to be shiny capable so they never created a shiny sprite for it, but they messed up some of the internal values and it's only shiny locked if you have the same trainer shiny value as the Ash OT they created for the event

The fact that the last one was found at a kiosk of all places is insane. And very funny.
Absolutely crazy!! Imagine being the person to accidentally stumble across this!
For hunt #3 as someone who is currently hunting for these if you want to attempt this hunt here are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Catch combo,
I would not recommend using a catch combo for this hunt at all because if you close your game you lose it, you’ll also lose out 2/3 of the legendary birds you find and you’ll have to fail all of the shinies you find
2. It should take about 30 minutes to and hour to find each legendary bird so be prepared for very slow encounters. I am currently using two switches and find that the birds come about every 30 minutes although I’ve had streams where i haven’t found a single one
3. It is very easy to fail everything
I cannot stress this point enough as I have failed countless shinies and legendary birds while hunting. Pay attention to the screen at all times because it is very easy to fail the birds (and shinies).
4. If you fail something don’t stress,
To the best of my knowledge the lowest shiny rate you can get is about 1,024. So by the end of you catch everything you will have hundreds of legendary birds and shinies so if you fail one it’s not a big deal
Sorry for the long explanation, I get that this isn’t fully what the videos about, but I figured I’d leave a little bit more information if anyone wanted to attempt this hunt.
Also I have only been able to find 4 shiny birds on CZcams/twitter and out of those the only bird that hasn’t been found is ArticUndo. So if you were to find a shiny ArticUndo it would be the first on CZcams and maybe even in the world
Thank you for the extra info! Your first point is actually really valid and I thought about this during the video process and I think my reasoning was while the Catch Combo would increase your odds for 1 bird, it wouldn't hurt the odds of the other 2 birds, right? Although it's a pain staking process and as you mentioned, catching more birds to continue the combo is very strenuous, easy to fail and probably not worth it in the end.
Something else I'm curious about... you actually managed to get some shiny birds?? Would you mind posting some links? I'd LOVE to see that!

Also another really weird shiny hunt is the ash cap Pikachu in ultra sun and moon since it could be shiny you can reset this Pokémon check if it’s shiny since it doesn’t have a model you need to check manually. It’s a fun hunt for a shiny that shouldn’t exist.

I don't know how many people have done this but back when they release the gen 1 VC games on 3ds, I shiny hunted the legendary birds in Yellow VC. Since this was before gen 2 VC were released, Gamefreak for some reason had the DV for attack and defense flipped to determine its shininess. I believed they fixed that mistake with the gen 2 VC. These are effectively a 1 in 8192 odds hunt and I did manage to get them all before the DV was fixed. So, I can say I have a pretty rare version of the gen 1 birds.
Such a cool hunt, I'd love to do that myself some day! I have a friend MrGlass023 who did this one for Mewtwo!
ok the last hunt is really insane, and as someone who likes to keep the shinies it seemed pointless, but that ending convinced me that it might be actually something i might do in a free time (and i can at least make a screenshot to remember this moment by, if nothing else)
It's really cool to me that this video allowed you to see it from another perspective! And don't worry, I can relate. A few years ago you'd absolutely NEVER catch me doing a hunt like this, but here I am, and I honestly can't wait to be able to say I actually got the shiny, even if it was only momentarily 💖

Definitely a headache, but a lot more well known than any of these hunts. If you try to search these online, you'll get extremely few or zero results, but simply searching for shiny Jirachi pulls up a bunch of results. The other thing with these hunts is they're a lot easier to access, you don't need a third party game, extra consoles or anything like that for them to work, they're all available in their respective games and yet, they remain to be very poorly documented.

10:25 theres only one other pokemon like this you can actually have in full games, the ash hat pikachu from a QR code in ultra moon and sun. It only has the sparkles and no other changes.
I’m pretty sure I have two shiny zapdos in let’s go. One soft reset hunted one random. But I let an old coworker borrow the game so I’ll never see it again
If those pokemon were in the box, and don’t care about them leaving the game, I am pretty sure you can use pokemon home to take them out of lets go assuming you still have the save file on the switch

great vid, brings me back cause i haven't shiny hunted in over 2 years or touched s/v. my rarest shiny honestly i have lots of npc trades in swsh i have over 15 shiny dracozolt going for a square one before my friend beat me to it and even i have a 0speed one as well, but my actual rarest is probably the perfect nature shiny alolan vulpix from npc trades in Let's Go, i got it in less than 250 trades couldnt believe it but the fact it was perfect nature without bottlecap blew my mind and i treasure her still today left untouched, god Let's Go was so underrated. my best friend also got a legit shiny zapdos in the wild when spamming doors with a catch combo for something completely different which was the first time i ever even thought of such a thing happening lol

Ive been working on the wild shiny bird hunt in lets go for over 3 years now. Ive seen over 900 wild legendary bird encounters and 900 seperate shiny pokemon (Mostly being spearow and fearow with the occasional dragonite or charizard). This hunt is an absolute grind as I usually only end up encountering 3-5 legendary birds every day. But im hoping to get it this year!
Ohhhh man that's rough, it took me hours just to get a single encounter for the footage in this video. 2 encounters I accidentally reset, like the Moltres at 6:26, but it made for some good footage haha. I pray it shines for you very soon, would be a truly insane accomplishment!
but even if you were able to get the partner pikachu or eevee as shiny in the acutal game you wouldnt be able to transfer it over to anything so it would still be stuck in Let's go

Ohhh I remember the last obscure hunts video you did. It’s fun to see some of the rarer shinies people can obtain, especially ones I wouldn’t even have thought of like the Let’s go Eevee demo.
There’s also a few hiding in side games like Battle Revolution if that’s something people are interested in. I know shines are possible in a few side games (some guaranteed like Conquest, others you have to hunt for like Rescue Team DX) but I’m not sure what the rarest ones would be.

And I have an absurdly obscure shiny hunt that I’m doing currently and it’s the shiny event gimmighoul on scarlet,
There was an event 8 months ago which made ghimmihoul appear in special tera raids from 3 star dens to 5 star.
In those dens there was a chance to find a shiny version of him but ONLY in the 5 star dens and the odds were 1/4103.05 .
The event ended obviously but if u disconnected from the internet entirely the game still thinks that the event in running and every aspect of it will be the same.
Currently I’m on 2500ish encounters and no shiny but I’ll get it eventually and hopefully soon cause it has taken like 550 hours to get to half odds…

I only ever really spent time hunting shinies in let's go eevee, keep my collection of shinies/legendaries from over the years stored in my pokemon home (including my gen 1, 2, 3, 4 ect...)
very similar to the eevee, in the OR/AS demo the middle stage evolutions for the starters could be shiny! exact same thing where it sparkles with a normal nonshiny sprite and is marked as shiny on the summary screen. absolblogs has a great video on it of his hunt!

I’ve been going for the Shiny Legendary Birds, I’m at about 27 or so non-shiny birds (I could be wrong) and this is at like 20 hours of hunting. I did the math a while back and it takes about 1 entire month of hunting to get the shiny

Tbh I have no idea 😅 The only reason I chose this spot outside of Mt. Moon is because the one person on CZcams who actually shiny hunted for this and managed to get it did it in this spot, so I just went there assuming they did their research lol.

@@Mayochip227 I looked into this a little bit more and found that someone else was also resetting outside of Mt. Moon. As far as I can tell, it's due to how well you can see the shadows of the Pokemon flying around. Hope this helped!

Is the catch combo in Lets GO just for the next encounter of the Pokemon I have the combo of? I thought it is for the next Pokemon that spawns
First Pokémon of that species. If you look at the thread I linked in the description by Sibuna_Switch, it's actually the first thing they say about the topic.

Catch combo doesn’t increase shiny odds for the rest of the Pokémon you’re combining. It only gives you better shiny odds on the immediate next spawn after you get the combo. So comboing for the legendary birds is useless

The let’s go catch combo doesn’t actually work like that, it was mined that after 31 in a row, only the very next spawn has the shiny odds raised

That's true! There's been three recorded accounts of shiny birds, only one of which was caught. A picture of Moltres was posted on Twitter, someone failed a Zapdos on CZcams and one dedicated person actually hunted for them and managed to catch a shiny Zapdos! There's still no recorded account of a wild, shiny Articuno

catch combo from any pokemon works for any other pokemon
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way like we once thought. I mention at 6:28 that the Catch Combo only applies to the next Pokémon spawn of that species, so the Catch Combo NEEDS to consist of whichever Pokémon you're hunting for. I recommend checking out the thread by Sibuna_Switch in the description, he goes into great detail about everything.

If you're going for level 3 legendary bird. You can't use the lure. So if you want something to hyper brag about That'll be the thing.

The underlevel page on Bulbapedia documents a lot of these odditys. But you can also literally check any route. And it literally says 3 to 56.

Also, I got the Catch Combo information right AND provided links about all the information in full detail. I'm assuming you missed the part where I said the Catch Combo only applies to the Pokemon of that species at 6:28. It's okay boo, I gotchyu. @@Testostyronne you did not get the information right. Catch combo only increases the shiny chance for the next spawn after. Not all the spawns. Do some research and you’ll see that you’re wrong

I will never understand why they started shiny locking starters
actually I'll never understand why shiny locks exist in the first place,it defeats the purpose of shinies
I heard the reason they shiny locked Legendaries is because they felt it made regular Legendaries feel less special, so it probably came from that. I personally think it's a stupid mindset as well
The professor won't just give you a shiny if you waited long enough. lol Starters should of been shiny locked since the beginning, and you have to breed for a shiny starter if you wanted it. lol As for legends, I feel that only the legends from the main story should be shiny locked, BW/BW2/ORAS did it right, shiny locking the story legends that shouldn't be shiny and the ones that came elsewhere (like from the Hoopa Rings and Ultra Wormholes should be shiny.
The thing with shiny hunting is if people don't want to do it, then they won't, and if they get a shiny by sheer luck, then that's incredible for them. The only thing you do by locking shinies is take away positive experiences, there's no negative to keeping shinies available.
You should make a video on the Ultra Ruins from USUM, I’ve only seen a couple people cover the place, but it might be a little limited on the lore, so maybe you could make a short!
