Toxic boost is on zangoose for lore reasons, because of their intense rivalry with seviper
I have one I like it c:
Also mongoose are known to be immune to venom from snakes, thats why it has that other ability
Honestly, zangoose is way better competitively thanks to that ability! a belly drum toxic boost with toxic orb zangoose can do up to 70% to a defensive zygarde... with only quick attack, it actually gets a guaranteed 1HKO to any non ghost types with facade
Even a fully defensive steel arceus, against a Hasty zangoose has 87.5% chance to 1HKO
SonnieSlim1 Mongooses are immune up to a certain quantity of venom.
@@XenoTheTurtle wtf does facade do to zygarde then?

*Wobuffet wants know your location*
Or revenge (although idk if Sableye can learn revenge, i'd guess not)
u-turn/volt switch users wants to know your location
lol im sure Wobuffet would love it but this is about its usefulness on Sableye. Which means Wobuffet would hate a Stall Sableye.
Sadly Stall is useless for anything other than payback and even then its not that good cuz of his low defenses - although his typing is pretty defensive prior to the addition of fairy type pokemon. Prankster is Sableye's preferred ability to boot.
@@D4rkn355Inf3rno Metal Burst is also useful if you move last
@@D4rkn355Inf3rno No, it wouldn't. Wobbuffet's counter moves have a priority of -5, which means Sableye is still going to go before it. Wobbuffet hates Sableye (and Spiritomb) because neither of its counter moves can affect it, being immune to Counter and Mirror Coat.

I think Zangoose has Toxic Boost as part of its lore. Zangoose is known to be rivals with Seviper, and seeing how Seviper's main weapon is poison, it is an appropriate ability for Zangoose to have
Oh my god ok so as i was reading this i thought of one thing:
Serviper.
So i ran into a zangoose horde, and there was a serviper. I wanted it to fill my dex, and ultimately, it was freaking obliterated by the zangoose. All of the zangoose decided to waste their attacking moves on the serviper instead of me so uh you know they did the dead

14:02
"I had never heard of stall prior to writing the script for this video"
So, I guess there was never a mid-dead series like Pokemon Abilities Explained??
About Cacophony; it's possible they initially implemented Cacophony with the Whismur line in mind, but then decided to extend the effect to other pokemon (such as Mr Mime and Electrode). If that's the case, it doesn't make much sense for Mr Mime (a silent pokemon) and Electrode (a pokeball) to ignore sound by being super loud. Therefore they'd have made the Soundproof ability as a more generic option, with those pokemon AND with potential future pokemon in mind.
Drifblim with flame orb is so good, how is this not well known
Because Unburden is also a good ability.
I'm gonna be honest. Extra damage for being in a situation where you're constantly taking damage doesn't sound bad
flare boost is like guts for special attackers, but most people who use drifblims tend to run unburden
New title: hidden abilities you havenât heard of
I never play competitive and also freaking love sableye, but that first time in oras that I caught one without knowing about stall meant that I couldn't use it, know I always make sure that I have at least one pokemon with sand attack so I can test for keen eye
i've heard of all of these accept cacophony (which you put in the thumbnail anyway) because i constantly make gimmicky teams. i actually remember looking for a ghost type who couldn't be poisoned or hit by ground moves, and i though "drifblim is ghost/flying, why don't i just give it a flame orb!" and when i checked his stats and abilities, i found flare boost. i couldn't've imagined a better coincidence if i tried. *zangoose is the only pokemon in its evolutionary line*
XD
Fun Fact about the Battery ability: it is a direct reference to Charjabug's dex entry where Vikavolt's carry them around for backup electricity. Maybe Gamefreak was trying to make the second form a distinct support type for a different role in double battles.
Since driftblim is the blimp pokemon, flare boost is likely a reference to the hindenburg, a blimp that burned down.
It's probably more a reference to the idea that blimps and hot air balloons use fire to keep them in the air
Nice video. Iâve been watching since PokĂ©mon talk 1 came out and I donât regret it.
Zangoose would be pretty scary with facade and toxic boost while holding toxic orb imo
But then again, ghost types had to ruin the day
Smogon's standard set for a Toxic Boost Zangoose includes Night Slash, so he's got it covered.
@@jamesnieves1216 Facade, Brick Break(for Steel and Rock types) and either Shadow Claw or Night Slash. The last move can be either Swords Dance or Agility if it gets it. You can also make use of Magic Bounce+T-Spikes and give Zang another item like a Life Orb but it's more difficult to pull off
I rewatched this video and realized it's one year old today. Good for me.
toxic boost is one of those competitive-tailored abilities, really good combo with swords dance and facade

Not true. I never understood why they are called "Hidden" Abilities. There's nothing "hidden" about them. You see them listed and described when you check a Pokemon's summary. A better name would be "Special" Ability.
Or a ability that doesn't even exists in game
Just based on its name, the concept behind Cacophony is ironic. It should have been a second normal ability of Loudred and Exploud and it should have increased the power of sound-based moves by 50%, almost like Strong Jaw or Mega Launcher. That is what that term means in real life.

Black Sludge is the item. Black Sludge heals poison types as if it was using Leftovers and hurts others.
I love power of alchemy. I use it on a sun team next to a harvest alolan executor so it gets harvest. With stockpile and minimize, alolan muk becomes a nightmare to take out
14:43 payback can do a lot of damage with stall and it's STAB from sableye
and give it a dark plate or the other dark type boosting item
True, but Sableye has a pretty bad attack stat compared to many other physical attackers. He just needs to set up first
Another scenario could be sableye vs wobuffet, stall making you go last to avoid mirror coat or counter, but yeah too specific to be good
@@flotskryz it only works in the same priority bracket though
You should just rename this video to âAbilities that are signature abilities to PokĂ©mon but Iâll say Iâve never heard of them because I need to upload a videoâ
Stall can be useful with moves that only wirk when the target is damaged on the same turn or moves that only work when a terrain is active so it's useful in doubles and triples
14:47 I have a Sableye with Stall ability and the reason is simple. I really like the abilities of Pokémon, which is only a few or just one have, like Stall. Usability varies a lot not only for Pokémon, but also for players who use Pokémon, because each of us sees things differently, with some being available to others and others not.
At first I tried to breed a Sableye that was with Stall ability only for unique reasons, but later I found a big use for it. For example, Payback which doubles damage if a Pokémon attacks after an opponent. Stall's ability to affect Sableye is that it always moves last, so Payback always produces double when Paybacks don't have a negative priority. Sableye also gets Stab from Payback, which is a nice bonus.
Well that sucks cause in gen 9 SABLEYE CAN'T LEARN PAYBACK plus he's slow as balls

I've heard of surprisingly a lot. I did some competition on Smogon in gen 7 so Soul heart was everywhere, and I knew about the hidden abilities of the starters. And I used Zangoose in the low tiers and toxic boost is a good ability for Zangoose.
Soul-Heart is a very good ability. It is especially good in doubles and free-for-alls since a lot of Pokemon can faint at the same time.
12:20 I got startled here lol
Talking about PokĂ©mon abilities, where is the âEvery PokĂ©mon ability explainedâ series?
Lockstin might make a video on this later, he's almost done with "NOT (element) pokemon", and the "NOT (element) moves" series, where he explains why some pokemon aren't actually of that type, and for which reason the moves have their types. so an ability series as well, is something he could continue with, but not confirmed.
