- New for 2023, this is an updated version of the Klim Marrakesh jacket which has become our favourite summer jacket here at Motolegends. For us this might just be the ultimate, lightweight, summer jacket. In concept, it is similar to the Rukka Forsair, but it betters it in a number of areas. The outer fabric of the Marrakesh is a 1000 denier woven Cordura. The fact that it does not have a waterproof membrane means that it will flow large volumes of air although, in the margin, we would have to suggest that the knitted Cordura of the Forsair will flow more. But made of stronger material, we would expect the Klim jacket to be more abrasion resistant and, with its four-way stretch, probably more comfortable to wear too. Unlike the Forsair, the Marrakesh does have a get-you-home, waterproof coating. This new version of the Marrakesh now has D30 Ghost armour in the elbows, shoulders and a level 1 D30 protector fitted as standard in the back. All the rest is really detail. We're talking about pockets, reflective panels, comfort linings, and so on. Obviously, if it rains, you'll need a waterproof, but on a hot day this jacket is going to take some beating. We have always felt that there were perhaps slightly too few sizes on the Marrakesh and on occasion people would fall in between those sizes. This year, Klim has added a waist adjuster cord which should help solve this issue.

Every time I watch one of your videos, it makes me want to visit your store.
Bought mine from you recently. By an absolute country mile it is the most comfortable jacket I have ever worn.
I use the layer system but don't bother with 2 windproof layers. The waterproof is my windproof layer and it's quicker to put on and take off. Saves carrying an extra item and saves money. Just my 2 pence worth.

I do the same with my Held Carese jacket but sometimes the waterproof layer is just not enough...the situation when it's too warm for the puffa jacket yet to cold only to use the rain cover. My solution is very thin mid layer designed for hiking and it works well so far.
The Zephyr is a nicely made lightweight jacket. Chris does get carried away with its wind proof quality. You could dispense with it as it’s not that warm and the Scott has more windproof qualities.

Amazing how many commentators don't get the point of this recommendation. He is selling you a complete system that can replace 3 or 4 more expensive jackets with armor and offer more versatility with better comfort. Those 4 basic components offer complete comfort and protection when riding in temperatures from 35˚C to -20˚C; with or without rain.
What I didn’t anticipate was the weight of the jacket. My advice is to get the most slimmest or tightest size you can fit. I found you feel the weight more with slightly larger side. Seems to hang on your shoulders more with the bigger size.
Update: bought the jacket. It doesn’t “flow air” as this gentlemen here would suggest. I’m in N. America so I assume they are talking about hot European weather not US or Canadian. Yes it get’s very hot in Canada.
A mesh jacket flow 30-40% more air.
Update: 31C with humanity at about 45%. So very hot sweaty. Jacket is good if you’re moving however if you’re commuting in stop and go traffic in this heat with this jacket. You will cook. It is more comfortable than a mesh, it’s not a cheese grater on your skin.
Jacket resisted the wet in the the rain on a 20 minute commute. Was bone dry.
This jacket is probably the best jacket for English weather.

@@PedroSilva-gb3gqThe British companies regularly get caught out by this. It's a bit like Knox' Urbane. It does flow air and is great for a British summer. Take it to Spain and it's too hot, but then everything is when it's 35-44c and really then you want to cover up and block air. My GF has the Pando Moto jacket, it flows a load of air but is stuck to your skin so you don't get the benefit of it.
Had mine over a year now, theeee best jacket ever.! Cold England, tee shirt, kiess heated jacket, summer, jacket only, cold n rainy, waterproof jacket on top, PERFECT.
Bought one in black color today....its really comfortable relative to my other jackets..
I am convinced - so have put my money down for a petrol blue one - with the ghost 2 upgrade and the zip adaptation. Proof of the pudding will be the wearing on my trip across Europe to Romania in June - new bike, new clothing.

@motolegends. What gets missed (i went down in this jacket)- it doesn’t keep the elbow pads in place. Otherwise it is great.. but just elbows got hurt in a very slow down because the armor wasn’t where it should have been
I pretty much agree with you, and it makes a lot of sense, probably marrakesh and one inner jacket to do the job of 2 jackets. Nevertheless i have one doubt, shouldn't the down jacket be underneath the windproof jacket?? In my head i see the wind taking out all the heat , I'm probably wrong....
If you find that you get too hot with the liner, down jacket and Scott outer jacket, you could add a cooling vest underneath. Don’t forget the hi vis vest to go over the Scott jacket for safety. I hope that I have enough luggage for a ride.

KLIM sate in the description of the trousers (pants lol) "Belt loops for attaching to Klim jackets" - how does that works? I'm used to jacket and trouser combos that zip together. Thanks
Does the maverick go over or under the zephyr? You show it outside but it seems as if it would work better inside. (Sorry, see you answered this underneath.)
Layering is good however unless you have panniers or top box where would you put all these garments when you remove them ,it will work for some
While the Marrakesh flows a good amount of air, it's no match whatsoever for the Baja S4. In high heat you'll still be warm in the Marrakesh - it's a pretty tight weave. The Baja has excellent Scholler mesh coupled with SuperFabric and stretch panels. It's no better looking than the Marrakesh, but it's far superior in the heat. I toss a thin rain jacket over the Baja when it's cold or wet.
TBH I prefer my Latitude for hot weather road-riding. With all vents open and the collar pinned back the Latitude is excellent at ventilation. It looks 100x better than either of these mesh jackets, and needs no rain jacket. When the heat climbs too high (100 degrees F +) you can seal the jacket and keep the heat out!
I use the Baja for dirt riding.
Hmmm I just returned my S4 set and was going to get the Marrakesh. Now you have me rethinking my decision. In the end I am going to need what is the coolest (living in So Cal).
@@Rob801 The Induction Pro is also a great choice. On tarmac I wear a black Induction Pro jacket coupled with a pair of black Mojave OTB pants. I tried the light silver combo but quickly learned how easily that light color gets stained, so I sold the set after one ride.
I find the black set just as cool as the silver. I use the Baja S4 set for off-road riding. Both sets flow a ton of air, but I feel the Baja is a bit more protective. Cheers!
@@cjmadura Thanks. Looked at a couple vids on the induction. I think between that and the S4 I would still get the S4, just for the slightly better protection, and for the Marrakesh fabric between the mesh sections.
I am probably going to reorder the S4, and maybe get a Marrakesh set down the road for a third and (probably final) riding set (I really like both for different reasons).

The best thing about this jacket is this new color. It looks like a football coaches sweater, or like someone escaped the alsheimer resort. Nonetheless, this was a great review. Now, if some other jackets would come out in sand/tan.

I want this jacket so bad. I'm trying to decide between the Marrakesh jacket and a summer jacket. I love where the weather goes from -1 to 40 ish. Most of my riding will be spring summer and fall. Mostly warm. 10-40 Celsius. What should I get?

@motolegends I'm kinda torn between the Stadler treasure pro and the klim setup. Both get a raving review from you. I will be doing a 2 month tour through south and middle Europe from May till July.
My worry is that the treasure pro will have trouble with heat above 30 degrees. Is this a fair assumption?

These two outfits are very different. The Stadler is well vented for a Gore-Tex jacket, but yes once in the upper 20s you will boil. For your trip, the Marrakesh would be more appropriate, I feel. But if you never want to stop, and change layers, stick with the Stadler. CP

I wish someone would start making something of this quality with some sort of airbag system. So far, looks like the Helite Backpack solution with this is the compromise. At 52, I don't like taking too many risks. No fear of dying. Fear of living and not being able to ride again, LOL.
I wish you had a store in the US. I learned a lot about things I didn't know I didn't know. I want try on this system before I actually buy it, however nobody here stocks anything instore. I have also been researching the KNOX seasonless system. I don't know if you are familiar with it

Hi. You briefly mentioned in one of your videos that if you are riding in temp over 40 degrees c could look at a cooling vest. Are there any cooling vest you could suggest to wear under the Marrakesh! Thanks.
Try the Macna cooling vest. Works by evaporative cooling. Very effective.
Would you recommend the new switchback 2 trouser also from Klim to the new marrakesh jacket? Is it possible to fix a connection zip on the jacket to connection IT to the switchback trouser? That would be a perfect combination. Thanks
Neither item has connecting zip. We can put a connecting zip in to a Marrakesh that will then work with the Halvarssons waist zip which can be worn with a belt on the Switchbacks (or the Marrakesh pants).

You totally convinced me! As an addicted hiker and long haul motorcycle traveler, I totally agree that the layering is the way to go. However, I still do use my Held Carese II (slight difference from the Evo model) and the ultimate test for it's performance in really hot weather would be my trip in Turkey starting in 2 weeks.
However, there is one downside of the layering system....you need to know exactly which size of the Klim Marrakesh would accommodate the wind-stopper and the puffer jacket under it. For a person like me that is always between the sizes (in my case M/L) this is always a question...either I can be comfortable with myself or loose few pounds to accommodate the layers under the jacket.

I am shopping and very much struggling between the HELD Carese EVO and this Marrakesh system!
Also, like you, I am a betweener: M-L sizes.
As a result, attempting to decide which setup is better.
With the Carese EVO, it comes with the inside/outside Goretex liner, so that covers rain and wind chill. All a guy then needs is a thermal.
Which set up would you recommend: EVO or Marrakesh?
My riding style is Goldwing Touring & KTM Adventure offroad riding (BDR).
@@onemileattatime2642 if you want more versatility- held is amazing. Just don’t get the black version. However, the slim fit with held is guaranteed and probably much more baggy with Klim. After a 8000 Km in Turkey I decided to stay with my Held for few more years.
I can’t find the Scott jacket here in the U.S. any alternatives?
Nice, i get the point, but ill stick to my goretex technical suite for 9 months of the year, and wear a light outfit for the 2 months of warm dry weather in the UK, i prefer some of Klims other products tbh , they do some pukka goretex technicals
What pants would you recommend with this setup? Have adventure boots that will probably not work with the new Marakesh pants or one layer jeans.
I have the matching trousers too, they're great! All mine is the light grey which isn't ideal for showing dirt but tooks great. I'd get the new blue next time

No, and that’s because the original jacket does not have Ghost. We can recycle Ghost L1, but we have no market for normal D3O. Sorry. CP

Yes. Can be worn with air vest. Zephyr and Maverick under airbag vest. Marrakesh over, obviously!
for layering with the Scott rain jacket over the top of the Marrakesh, if I wear a large in the Marrakesh, should I also get large in the Scott?
A size down as the Scott's is stretchy, or buybthe same size as your motorcycle jacket. Don't size up.

So buy 4 jackets and pack them all around with you. Stop and layer up? Where I live and do most of my riding I’d be wearing at least 2 and sometimes 3 especially mornings. Starting to sound as bulky as a regular ADV GTX jacket that comes with 3 built in. In Canada looking at $1300 for all 4. Remember it’s really only hot when stop so keep riding!
My chest is 110 cm which is low end XL or max end L i will use layering should i go for XL or L?

No, normally one size down. Large Marrakesh usually a Medium Scott, sometime a Large, but never an Extra Large. CP

Your video couldn't arrive at a better time. I needed the Klim Zephyr under my Klim Marakesh for a tour in 2 weeks but I didn't even know it existed 😁 so I have just ordered with you guys.
PS: I just hope it won't go through DHL here in France, they always mess up the deliveries.
So wait, your solution is to wear, in that order, the Zephy, the Marrakesh, the Maverick and then a rain jacket?
Okay, the best solution from a functional perspective is to wear the Zephyr over the Marrakesh, but I prefer the other way round. And that’s because I often wear the Zephyr on its own off the bike, and if I had a Zephyr big enough to go over a Maverick, it would look huge when I wore it without the Maverick as I often do. So just personal taste, really. CP.
I really wanted to get this jacket. The trouble is that the new A, AA, AAA regs seem to be garbage.
When tested on the standard Cambridge abrasion machine, which simulates the roads we have here in the UK, the jacket failed after 0.6 seconds, and scored 1 out of 10. It appears to be an off road jacket only.

Hi. First off I’m not in the market for this jacket. I have a mesh jacket and next to never wear it unless I’m overseas. The question I have is your thoughts on the down underlayer opposed to something synthetic like Primerloft. I have been under the impression that down losers most of its thermal qualities when compressed like under another jacket. Your thoughts please. Cheers. Michael Cunningham.
Don’t disregard the jacket. It’s not like a mesh jacket. Lots of people never go back to a traditional jacket after they’ve ridden in a Marrakesh. Get to try one if you can. It is true that a down jacket will hold less air if it is compressed. But then so will one with Primaloft or Insulate. But a down jacket holds more air, a down jacket makes any outer jacket more comfortable, and a down jacket is nicer to wear off the bike. CP

I doubt it, but don’t worry; Guildford is just an 8,500 mile round trip, but we can make sure we get the size right; and you’ll get a lovely cup of tea and a motorcycle-shaped, shortbread biscuit. But we mail several packages to India every week, so the internet is probably your best option. CP.
Never sure if I’m using mine in the most efficient way. Base layer, Zephyr, insulated layer, Marrakesh, or base layer, insulated layer, Zephyr, Marrakesh?
Suspect your last option will be warmer (more efficient) in cold weather as the Zephyr will prevent body heat loss from air being forced through the insulation layer.
Peter is right from a technical perspective. But personally, I often wear the Zephyr off the bike, and if I had sized mine to wear over my Maverick, it would look huge when I wasn’t wearing a Maverick. So a personal thing really, more to do with how I dress off the bike rather than on it. CP.

I was about to order the Rukka Forsair Pro mesh jacket and trousers. Then I saw your review. Am I correct in saying they work on the same layer system and provide the same level of protection.
Yes, they do a similar job. The Rukka probably flows even more air, but the Marrakesh is more protective, more stretchy, more comfortable, and makes you look less like a biker. When you add back armour to the Forsair it becomes quite a bit more expensive, but it does have a connecting zip. CP.
I LOVE this jacket - but below 60F/ 15C it is just TOO COLD - even with a windproof shell and insulating layer underneath. In this case I just wear my laminated Adv. jacket!
Quick question regarding Scott rain gear - does the sizing take into account that it will go over a jacket? I.e., if I wear L/XL jacket, what size should the Scott's rain gear be? XXL? Thanks for the great reviews
I replied to this 24 hours ago, but I posted it in response to someone else’s comment. Sorry. Anyway, in principle, we go one size down, because the Scott is stretchy, and we tend to wear it tight. At worst, go for the same size as the jacket. But you would never go a size up. CP

The Marrakesh looks great. Far more stylish than the one I am about to mention.
But for airflow the Motoport Kevlar mash jackets put all others to shame. Of course they are semi custom but still in same price range of most Klim stuff.
Of course as I mentioned the Marrakesh looks 100 times more stylish. But for me on a big adventure I just don’t care.

The best jacket must be the BMW Comfort Shell Jacket which was made out of C-Change just like the Rokker jeans. Problem was that was very expensive and never sold well. BM dropped the range. I have the suit which is the to go summer continental trip suit.
C-change is a membrane from Schoeller Industries; nothing with a membrane will be as cool to wear as the Marrakesh. We have offered a lot of garments with C-Change; we know how they work. Suggest you try a Marrakesh before making such a proclamation. CP
Pity they don't make it to fit a 50" chest, I contacted klim and they told me they will not make one up to that size.
We will get back to you, but with the stretch in it, we reckon a 3XL would work fine. leave it with us. CP.

For all its strengths it still flows air like a sieve, weighs as much and yet costs more than most top-end Helstons leathers!
After years of trying to find do it all gear I've come to accept what I should have believed from the start - do it all gear is do nothing well gear. Better to carry four jackets that do a specific job than one jacket that weighs more and does nothing well.
Preposterous prices!
Business that sells motorcycle clothing unironically suggets that you need to be wearing 4 items at the same time in order to be best protected.
Especially, as these four items will cost less than the one item that other retailers will tell you will do the same job. Unfortunately they won’t. CP
@@Motolegends I believe you, but couldn't that one item be 'good enough' - an acceptable trade off? Aren't 4 items a pain to put on (and off), restricting movement and against comfort?
@@agkinares Yes, but if you watch the review, what you will see is that only if you layer can you have the perfect set up whatever the conditions are. The downside? Stopping to put things on, and take things off. A pain if you’re commuting, but if you ride for pleasure, then perhaps not the end of the world! CP.

The Marrakesh Jacket and Pants are not that good of a mesh really. Put your mouth against the garmet and try blowing through it. Permeability not stellar. Now do the same with the Klim Induction Jacket and feel the difference. I do have both, so I know. The Marrakesh material is certainly more pliable and it is nicer to wear into shops and restaurants. But I just don’t feel/believe the Ghost Armor L1 is that protective. I changed out to D30 Ghost L2. Of course, that makes the jacket a bit bulkier. Changed out to D30 Ghost L2 in pants as well. Bulkier, but not feel as much so.
Totally agree. When it’s hot the Marrakesh doesn’t flow like a true mesh jacket. I was disappointed in mine when riding over 80F. I’m wondering if Chris’ local climate is a little cooler than others.
you certainly seem to know your stuff and have done your research. However I do not think that sourcing appropriate motorcycle gear should be so arduous and finessed as you make out. After all, Steve McQueen in the Great Escape, did not stop to swap his ragged sweatshirt for a layer system. If you ride bikes, as I do, then you know what you are going to have to contend with in terms of weather ( cold, rain, heat) and most tech systems will be sufficient enough to deal with this. Whatever way you try and cut it, motorcycling is inherently fraught with potential discomfort as barrelling along at 80 mph in the cold, the rain and the wind is never going to be that great or comfortable and the only way to alleviate that nonsense is to go by car. Some Motorcyclists are increasingly looking for Nirvana in terms of motorcycle gear and accessories to keep them comfortable ( witness, heated seats...what nonsense). I .started motorcycling over 30 years ago when a student and my motorcycle gear was a duffel coat and big gloves. I have since progressed and have a Rukka textile suit which, even at their prices, is not faultless or totally waterproof because nothing ever will be. You are always going to get that annoying drip down your neck or into your gloves.
A comfortable ride is a safe ride. I spent the bucks, got a Klim hardanger and got on the saddle in torrential monsoon rain, all I had to worry about was the road rather then the drip down the neck that I never had.
Beware this jacket has a terrible safety score with motocap. I wouldn't feel safe in it.
