I just wish I could teach my small dog to lay down on cue. I've tried everything including asking for sit twice.

Have you tried capturing it (marking/rewarding any time the dog lies down on its own)?

@@diaml yes. I should probably resume trying that, it's my best hope. To be honest I gave up some years ago. He's such a complicated little dude with health and anxiety issues.
