- Jonathan is joined by PokerCoaching coach JWIN to discuss a hand that he played at the Lodge Poker Club in Austin, Texas.
They discuss the interesting choice from the small blind to just flat call pre-flop. Generally in cash games most players will opt for a 3-bet or fold strategy from the small blind. By the small blind just calling pre-flop it gives a lot of information as to the range of hands that they might have.
This poker hand starts with a very standard raise from JWIN with AQo and a call from the small blind with KTo. On the flop the small blind checks and JWIN continuation bets with top pair for around half pot. On the turn JWIN decides to size up as a flush draw is now available and the opponent could also still have a worse ace. The river brings in the backdoor flush and some straight combinations and JWIN’s opponent decides to lead for a pot sized bet. JWIN has the nut flush blocker and also a straight blocker and opts to turn his top pair into a bluff and uses an extremely large raise size. Will his opponent sniff out the bluff and call with two pair?
On this Poker Coaching channel we cover a weekly poker topic to help improve your poker strategy!
In order to take your poker game to the next level it is vitally important you learn all the nuances of the game.
Do you know what ranges of poker hands you should be playing from each position? When should you 3-bet, call or fold? When is the right time to make a hero call or a huge bluff? Do you know how to play preflop, flop, turn & river effectively and how should your poker strategy change depending on the street? What difference does it make if you are playing multi-way vs heads-up?

How often do you use the concept of blockers to help you decide what you should do at the poker table? 🤔
20 percent of the time roughly.
All the time in great game of Omaha cash :)
Here after the deep run in the pca. So happy for you. Thanks for all of the hard work over the years.
Only on the river, it seems. And pre when considering 3betting from sb. I need to get them in my head more on the turn. That's what I am working on now. This game aint easy
Out of all the poker vlogers (Owen, lex o, rampage, etc…) J Winn is by far the most analytical and is constantly improving his game to be the best of the best. I’m happy he’s a coach at poker coaching because his game is in the same stage as mine and being able to mirror my progression with his is helping me accelerate my studies. Thank you Jonathan
Excellent video! Perfect timing for me to watch it, as at my session last night I used nut flush Ace and King blockers, and even a measly 9 of hearts blocker, to rep a fkush hand and take down three or four sizable pots. I'm working on improving my player reads for when three flush boards hit and then working in those blocker bets into my arsenal. Great video, Jonathan. Keep 'em coming!
Awesome ..THANX
Wow, great bluff, to turn top pair into a bluff isn't something you see often but I like it!
Good luck in the PCA 10k. I'm watching live man!!!
Great river bet.
Is it possible to pay for specific courses? I'd love to try the spin and go course but $1k/year at my level is a wild price to pay for that. I know you have great content that you should be paid for but that's just way too much for me just to access the course i'm interested in.
Hi Jon! Hi Jwin! I haven't seen the outcome yet. While this hand (particularly the river raise) makes for a really interesting discussion, it feels a bit FPSy. We all agree that the opponent has a strong value hand, probably two pair or better. Thanks to your blockers you can certainly represent a monster.
But don't they almost always say, "Sigh. If you have a flush you win" and call?
I guess you need to know your opponent, but y'all correctly pointed out that they really shouldn't have a leading range on the river. Given that, is *this* the person you wanna push off two pair?
Hi Jonathan. Love you to do a vid on Jungles set of 22 again Nick Airball overpair QQ
I'm from Taiwan
Are there Chinese translations for the courses and videos?
Is Bart Hansen dealing??
If he's representing the nut flush wouldn't you want to be called?
Yes you would, for maximum value. If you have the nuts, make your bet so big it looks like an overbet bluff and TRY to not smile when you get paid. I've been paid MANY times by people who "have to see it." And if you are called and it's a bluff then the table is primed and more likely to call when you do have it. Table image is important, anyone decent is figuring out how you play and is using it against you.
He hasn't done a video in 3 months thought he most have blown his bankroll.
he ran pretty deep in the pokerstars pca tournament this week
Hello! I assume you’re referring to me.
A lot of changes over the last 3 months, so videos dropped from my priority. I’ve spoken about this a few times. But I did end the year w +220k or so in live cash earnings.
For this year, I’m right under 6 figures but decided to keep my profits private going forth as I’ll be a much more valuable member to the poker community in different ways.
Finally, I hired a new editing firm so expect me to be back on CZcams soon.
Sorry for ghosting everyone w little explanation.
Just left Mint they are cheep but your phone works 60% of time
This ended up working but I don’t think this is a great play when you bet big on the turn a lot of the hands that call the big size are Kx of spades that hand never folds you run into a brick wall alot
JWin hasn't posted a video in 9 months!!! What happened???
Phillip should have lead on the river. If he didnt lead he would have won the pot%
When did this game take place? Was surprised to see everybody wearing a mask.
He said it was in 2021, I think. Really stupid wearing mask when everyone is passing chips and cards to each other 😂
777... Woohoo
@Jonathan Little - Poker Coaching. Why are you making a video about a vloger who Never Vlogs? Sorry, why are you "promoting" a guy who Never vlogs? His last video is 3 months ago! And why is he (Jwin) talking like he is still vlogging???
