Mastering The Fundamentals: Pot Odds
In this video, we discuss Pot Odds and why they matter. Poker math is fun!
Understanding pot odds is necessary to playing good, strong, fundamentally sound poker. Too many players base all of their decisions on whether they think they are ahead or behind, but learning how to compare pot odds & equity will open up your strategy so that you can fully realize your win rate!
Pot odds & equity are how poker professionals determine whether a play is profitable in the long run. Pot odds are calculated by dividing the amount of the call by the size of the pot AFTER you have called. So, if you're facing a $10 bet and the current pot size is $90, your pot odds would be 10:1, meaning you only need to beat 10% of the hands your opponent would bet!

Rampage Poker HATES Money! [INSANE Punt]
zhlédnutí 31KPřed 19 hodinami
Punting for Rampage Poker seems to be a common occurrence when he plays high stakes poker on the Hustler Casino Live stream. In this hand, he played a massive pot against businessman Brandon Steven, who rivered a flush and faced a massive raise from the poker vlogger. Was this a typical Rampage punt or did he find a masterful bluff? You decide! When you are in the small blind or big blind with ...
Is This OUT of LINE??????

There are certain things you just shouldn’t do at the poker table; hit & run at cash, hiding your big chips & berating the recreational players are just a few examples. But, what about talking at the table whilst other people are playing a massive hand? That’s exactly what happened on Game of Gold after Fedor Holz put Dan Cates to the test on the river. Dan Cates was not happy with David Willia...

Most Reasonable Bluff hand IMHO: A3cc or A3dd
tl;dr I Call. Footnotes: TX Mike check-raised instead of value betting the river himself, and he has waaaay to many possible bluffs from weak ones like missed spades to 56o and A2cc. His value range consists of only A4 - A6 (hands strong enough to value check-raise over our river overbet)
Very easy call, I remember he had 10 2o. With all seriousness, this is a bad bluff catcher, and an extremely uncommon spot, and having a complete airball here is absolutely bananas. This is a very bad play by Mike, that was really suicidal with 0 reason. If it were a special game or something, getting a bounty for this type of move, it might've been ok, but this is just a bad play that got right, and when you get those, it is usually the peak of you stack - Mike eventually lost everything and much more, because of him being loose aggressive whale
What do we know about Global Poker? Unregulated "sweepstakes" poker. The only thing available in many states. Legit?
The nuts? Hmm, great observation, not.
your fornat suclks
When Peter knocks over his stacks trying to push them in that screams I GOT IT!!!! PLEASE CALL !!
Thanks Jonathan, is there a vid on AQ AJ AT preflop plays.
What I disagree with the most is Little's "Anything goes" ruling. Is this a street fight or a boxing match? I prefer a boxing match as there are soem rules and etiquettes to follow. In Jonathan's "anything goes, if it gets inside their heads, it's fair game" so we draw no lines at all? If I don't bathe for a week knowing my stench will distract the players, that is "good gamesmanship"? If I intentionally eat a bunch of Taco Bell, and drink 3 beers, knowing damned well this will cause me to fart nonstop, is this an acceptable strategy to get inside their heads, through their nostrils? I hate angle shooters, even if they technically don't overtly break a rule, but Jonathan is fine with it, and will call it good gamesmanship. Shame on you, Sir Little! If we want to present poker as a legitimate sport, then stop allowing any and all tactics.
I’m sure Brandon is a good dude but for some reason I hate his face. Lol
I'm still in the tank , i just wonder what pete had tom on ?,
I'm a newer player. What does defend mean in his context?
Defend, meaning call or raise. When you defend you continue with the hand against the opponent/s.
That river bet by Peter was the stringiest in poker history…more stringy than string beans. ONE FORWARD ACTION.
On the one hand, check-raise bluffs on the river are probably not done frequently enough to call. On the other hand, there are very few hands we are losing to. I wouldn't expect Peter to show up with many 4x hands since he raised UTG. There is literally only A4 of clubs, maybe 34 or 45 of clubs, but I wouldn't expect that very often. The hands we lose to are 66/TT, and he can have both of those hands. We beat everything else but how often does Peter get sticky with like JJ-AA and c/r them on the river? I really don't know, we barreled three times here, we are saying we have 4x. People might argue because of Dwan's image people do stupid stuff against him and this might be a bluff. But Peter would literally need to be check-raise bluffing with absolutely nothing on the river because I think if he believes Tom is bluffing, it would be a call with hands like JJ-AA. This is a really, really tough spot and I'm sure the GTO robots would say if you fold you are getting exploited. But I think in this spot, I don't think folding is terrible and neither is calling. It's possible Peter turns the nut flush draw into a bluff, it's just that I don't think he gets there that often, especially after calling the turn bet. It looks like a fold to me, with some merit calling because he could have some missed nut flush draws (which I think is unlikely).
I don’t like it. There are so many cards to come that will discount your hand, like the board pairing, or a heart. And a 5 or 4 puts a 4 liner out there and could kill action (and in this case, a 5 would be disaster). Even by the river, he doesn’t technically have the nuts anymore. JT is the nuts. It’s a very vulnerable nut hand. It only looks “brilliant” because his opponent happened to have dogshit. But the majority of the time, his opponent will have something, or a draw, and will gladly put more money in if raised.
Out of all ur videos, this one has helped me the most! Thank you!
there was no way he was bluffing there...
Is a PLO course being added?
I will Call
I’m struggeling to find a hand that beats the straight as played? Doesnt any Ax that makes a boat squeeze preflop a great percentage of the time? I guess just 66? The other boats reraise flop no? Pls correct me on this :) very interested!
I have more folds and some crying calls just to make sure i don't get bluffed in this spot a lot. But its mostly a fold.
Not the NUTS! Now, take whoever's NUTS are in your mouth .. out
One question if you are going to call why not go all in just to make him fold his bigblind it would be funnier
What did he think he folded to? Pocket aces? I don't see the point in being in a hand with 7/8 off and making 4-8 straight without calling at the river unless theresfour to a flush on the board. I can only speculate that perhaps Hook was playing too deep and was scared to make the call. No offense given.
Stop repeating the action....DISLIKED!
He doesn't have the nuts man... chill
After watching your videos, i always hear your voice saying, "Pot odds exists" whenever I have to call a bet that feels uncomfortable. And sometimes I end up winning a big pot that way
David just does a lot of meth, let him live.
I watch your vids all the time. I have a full time job and I can't afford your premium content so I abuse all the free stuff.thanks john. Good luck to you
Paired board, I check back and avoid the decision. A4, A5, A8 are entirely plausible.
18% raises, 42% calls, 39% folds, 1% burn the cards and spit on the opponent😅
One correction. If your opponent bets 100 into 400, then you call 100 in the total of 600pot, getting 1/5 odds. Need to win 1/6th or 16.7%. Other than that, a very good lecture!
i like your vids!
Are you playing the 50K?
First!
Flopping trips against a nit or anyone really…example 45 vs a5 board 5 5 10 this is a big one!
Throw GTO out the window at the Hustler - Know Your Opponent. If Hook had seen Tx Mike show down some hands before getting in the mix, he should have already known that he is over bluffing and then some. If not, then Hook had 2 ways to play it...shove on turn to TRY to shut it down and get paid 9x out of 10 with no clue what he was up against OR check back river and take it down. Betting out on river without thinking through what to do when he gets played back at is beginner mistake. Before making an action a thinking player not only has thought of what opponent response he is looking for, but how he will respond if desired/planned response is not what you get. Betting out over pot and getting jammed on...he didn't know what to do and didn't know his opponent and wasn't paying attention to TX Mike hand showdowns to know that it was at least flip a coin/pick a card high(call) low(fold). Can't be meek in a game like that. Only thing worse is playing "scared $".
It is even hardly a poker game))) Helmute has 17 braclets and 16 of them in Holdem. And you know how many Ivey has in Holdem? Zero... he has braclets in fifferent games. He is good card player... and 3 times declared bancropcy due to huge loses in cash poker games... and now he is the goat? Really?
Stay lucky and no one can touch you
02:50 he does not have nuts, 87spade is nuts.
The amount of money he is sitting with he can easy pay back those he owes...smh. he is scum.
On a paired table that's 100% a fold, more often than not probably the guy will have a full house
Call
very confused why most people that show these hands have to explain what is happening. i am sure the poepl who are watching understand poker and can see what cards the players have and what is flopped. just show the video.
Why just dont check back the river bro? Like you win bro why give the opportunity to turn the hand of the opponent into a sicl bluff like you dont have the nuts anymore on the river why couldnt just check it back and win the f money
Flushes miss, some straights miss too..that's just a crying call to me.
Honestly, if you’re gonna play 94 pre-flop you deserve what you get. It always works until it doesn’t.
