it's an extremely stylized art style, there is no "updating" it. like, what are they gonna "update" it into ?
and 3 years is pretty short development cycle, given that SuperGiant is still a relatively small company with no funding

it's only been a year and a half dude, this is pretty amazing for that short amount of time from such a small game dev.
and it's a sequel, no shocker that it looks like the original game.
