I think it's important to focus on the positive comments you do get and what is going right. As a writer, out of necessity I have developed a thick skin. Early on I lost sleep over viciously bad reviews that I took to heart. As the years passed I learned that there is a very small segment of the public that seemingly enjoy humiliating people that have more talent and creativity than they'll ever have. Nowadays I simply ignore the few harsh (and often nonsensical) reviews knowing that almost all my readers enjoy my books, and those that for whatever reason don't...well, that's their problem. I don't interact with online negativity anymore, I just read it and then block and move on... forgetting about it within seconds because those types of people aren't worth anyone's time.
Whenever you feel down or feel like quitting just remember that you are doing exactly what the haters want. Only insecure toxic people try to bring others down. I've dealt with people being jealous of me over the years and usually in real life it is more subtle. On the internet it isn't because people can hide behind a screen and show their worst selves while being anonymous and without any consequences. Just know that there is something deeply wrong with your haters and they are trying to bring you down to their level to make themselves feel better about their own insecurities. It doesn't matter how amazing or correct you are, you will always get more and more of them, so don't take any of it seriously:) I think you have the right approach to instantly fight back if you get comments like that in real life. But if you get them on the internet-- they really don't count or mean anything, so it is best to ignore them. Internet trolling is a profession. As a writer, out of necessity I have developed a thick skin. Early on I lost sleep over viciously bad reviews that I took to heart. As the years passed I learned that there is a very small segment of the public that seemingly enjoy humiliating people that have more talent and creativity than they'll ever have. Nowadays I simply ignore the few harsh (and often nonsensical) reviews knowing that almost all my readers enjoy my books, and those that for whatever reason don't...well, that's their problem. Keep up the good work.
One bit of advice that got me through my first job might help with CZcams commenters in general. "Ignore the crazy people."

I don't interact with online negativity anymore, I just read it and then block and move on... forgetting about it within seconds because those types of people aren't worth anyone's time.

Whenever you feel down or feel like quitting just remember that you are doing exactly what the haters want. Only insecure toxic people try to bring others down. I've dealt with people being jealous of me over the years and usually in real life it is more subtle. On the internet it isn't because people can hide behind a screen and show their worst selves while being anonymous and without any consequences. Just know that there is something deeply wrong with your haters and they are trying to bring you down to their level to make themselves feel better about their own insecurities. To be fair, you aspire to be a public figure and this is what comes with being a public figure...
Most people want all the positives of being a public figure (recognition, fame, praise, money etc) but none of the negatives that come with it, but life doesn't work like that... You've got to to take the rough with the smooth in this game.
Also, the whole "snarky" angle you've got going on makes it harder for people to warm to you. I'm not saying to drop the snarky thing - especially if that's actually who you are - but if you choose to keep it then expect to attract more negativity from your audience.
Besides, if you're genuinely snarky and have a "I don't care what the haters think" attitude like you portray yourself in your videos then you shouldn't give a sh*t about these negative comments

Jay you are the greatest! Everybody gets negative comments on the internet, and the more visible and popular you are, the more you get. It doesn't matter how amazing or correct you are, you will always get more and more of them, so don't take any of it seriously:) I think you have the right approach to instantly fight back if you get comments like that in real life. But if you get them on the internet-- they really don't count or mean anything, so it is best to ignore them. Internet trolling is a profession. IMO get an editor to screen your comments to view so you can keep the troll attempts out of your head.
