As a foot doctor I look at basketball shoes and basketball sneaker technology a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the basketball shoe's functional attributes on the basketball court

This may be a bit off topic but I’m from nyc and back in the early 2010s and even now in some neighborhoods foams were especially loved as a “street fighting shoe” because they were light enough to pivot while still having so much stability and weight which made it easier to stay planted/avoid a rolled ankle. The jokes everytime you saw a person wearing foams are iconic, they really were the black air forces of their time.
😂😂 it's like that here in Detroit now 😅😅😅
That full length zoom is more comfortable than boost imo, bounciest shoes ever😂
@@jermainejackson7641 lmao the hood really the same everywhere, I picked up all the foam releases this year and I’m breaking them in rn, comfiest work beaters for me
@@braelighty6212 facts I work for Amazon and I swear that double stacked zoom in the heel gives me extra energy
But before the 10’s,only spoiled kid and doe boys wore them because they were the most expesive sneaker.higher than jordans
Watch u cut those foams damaged me emotionally
Everytime he cuts open a shoe....
I swear it's like torture.
Man! Cut a random pair. Not the Penny foams
Hurt the 2015 in me
Right?! What a waste
Foams were definitely ahead of its time, it aged very very well compared to other sneakers. Still looks modern out of all OG sneakers.
This just made my day. I can learn and listen about the Foamposite any day. One of my favorite shoes & once broken in, comfortable!
Love your videos Zach. I think a tear down of the Asics Nova Surge 2 / Surge Low could be interesting. Hard to get in North America but I’ve had them a minute and haven’t had any issues with the heel pain I usually have
I think the Lebron 11s are an updated version of foamposite with a drop insole, sounds good but didn’t execute as expected.
I owned a few pairs of foamposite myself, including the original ones from 1996. They’re great sneakers, and the only weakness I find is that feet feels comparatively tired after prolonged playing
They imo were too snuggly made. And the outsole on the 11 were pretty bad. Think thats why he didn't wear those much.
I still ball in my Gator Kings, decent hooping shoe… not an overwhelming amount of tech like the newer models
I still own 3 pairs of 11’s love but would never hoop in them. Really it’s the toe box shape for me. Clean to rock but uncomfortable to ball in
Lebron 4, lebron 11,12,13 all have foamposite on em
Absolutely agree with you. I love the foamposite technology. It was so ahead of it’s time that it only started to feel dated only within the last 10 years give or take. Nike should revisit this tech implementation especially with the flightposite line…since it’s a slimmer version of the tech but kept all the benefits including a that custom fit from prolong wearing.
we have come to the point in sneaker culture where someone examines the structure of the foamposite and scientifically break down the reasons of benefit. This is really great contents, not often seen, thank you for your dedication
FYI Lebron 11s which I love, have foamposite pieces around the shoe but sadly Lebron was often seen wearing his previous models hence many speculated he did not like shoes, I wish we could know more and collect more performance data on Foamposite shoes cuz the Skyposites were panned but im curious how the Chuckposite and Lil Penny performed on the court. Lightweight and respiration are great for me personally but it's also sad to see the AJ 37 and Lebron 20s get ripped easily
Yeah I think if the mold is wrong then its going to be a dud unfortunately
I would also love to see it applied in more models to test it out. Thank you so much for this original content to open the conversation. Who knows? Maybe a Nike executive may see this comments and thinking about producing or even "pro tro" it. Keep on with this nice content and experimentation!
Agreed. Mids, Highs, foams the way to go!
Finally got my first foams recently. I’ve been totally missing out all this time. They’re truly on another level.
I love foamposite uppers since i was a kid in the 90s.
Thx very interesting vid ❤
Would love to see more Foamposite shoe models in the basketball dept as long as Nike could keep the cost to us consumers down!
Foams are absolutely GOATED! If there was one pair of shoes I’d wear for the rest of my life, I’m not allowed to wear anything else, it’d be foamposites easily.
yeah it’s be the flightposite for me, but same sentiment
Love your videos brother. Would be epic to see an updated Foamposite design released by Nike for sure!
Agree and glad this has been mentioned. Foamposites, Jordan 11, 12 Air Zoom flight 95, and Air Thrill flight were a head of their time. The clinical applications are huge and not understood. I would also put the kobe 4 in there, too. If any of the above were readily available and didn't cost a fortune, i would recommend them to patients all day.
Also the Penny 2’s
@lovingthesauce I still have my original Penny 2s from the 90s. I have a large library of Bball shoes I have in my clinic i use to educate patients. I forgot to add 2008 Hyperdunk
Out of all those models you listed, only the kobe 4 is actually difficult to realistically obtain
@Yamagucci Mane Yep. Luckily, I still have 3 DS original pairs in the collection.
13’s too.
I remember owning 3 pairs of the lebron 4s when i was in high school. Probably one of the heaviest shoes I've ever bought but definitely comfortable to hoop in. At this point in Brons career foamposite materials would just be too heavy
That’s what I didn’t like about brons.
Agree 1000 , they are so comfortable and the new models 2023 don’t have to be broken in like the older ones 🫡 great video
I have the LeBron 11s. Super comfy with full length zoom and yeah that outer shell was Hella stiff and felt like I was playing with a cast on my feet. As a point guard I definitely felt slow in them but the confidence in ankle support was good. Where in other shoes they are light but I'm spraining my ankle all the time,
Wow, great video! I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. How cool would it be to get a shoe with updated foamposite tech, full-length Zoom "strobel", and Boa fit system? Foamposites probably don't have a traditionally sewn in strobel board, but full-length Zoom would be cool.
Glad you liked it 👍
Lebron shoes did have foamposite in the 4s, 5s, 11s, 12s and 13s. The 5s in particular had the phyposite technology.
Still my all time fav shoe. Just threw away my metallic silver pro 2005 foams. Super durable
Ok, first, let me tell you about myself. I'm a "sneaker head," not as a shoe collector, but I'm more fascinated by the various technologies and designs. That's why I subscribed to your channel 😁
Anyhow, with that said, I totally agree with you that the foamposite technology is the single most advanced sneaker tech in the last several decades. That and zoom air. In fact, I remember seeing a foamposite pro pearl for the first time, and it was like magic.
Ive always told people my apocalypse shoe would 100% be foams once your ankles are use to the weight they are amazing! Would always recommend for ball
Still one of my top 3 shoes in Nike basketball history. Had multiple pairs. Nike watch this video. Double stacked strobel zoom air paired with foamposite . Got it ?
I never knew I wanted Foamposites until I saw that white/black colorway you’re holding. 🔥
I have more Foams and LeBron 8-12s more than anything. The LeBron 11 was a similar foam material but the upper portion of the toe area was uncomfortable until the shoe was broken in unless u replaced the insole with a slightly shorter insole. Same thing with the 12.
One of your most interesting videos! Was really good,Nike owes you a check now lol,I enjoyed very much thanks,I've never owned a pair, hopefully will get, their resell is quite expensive,or people's idea of pricing, lol
Glad you liked it 🏆
Love the idea of being able to scan the foot and mold a custom shoe. So many foot and ankle problems are caused by narrow toe box and inflexible shoes. Bunions, hammer toes, plantar fasciitis, Achilles problems. We need more foot shaped shoes.
Could you revisit the wow 9 using the newer low top version ? I've heard they are the one of the bounciest shoes ever made and there isnt a better reviewer when it comes to explosive shoes .
waiting for your converse bb prototype cx teardown tho
you sir just convince me that Foamposite is the best basketball shoe. I already like them, thank you
Should I go for a snug fit size for foamposite or size up? Since they mold to your feet but are so stiff before the molding happens, I had a pair true to size but they hurt my toes so I rarely wear it for hooping
1/2 size up
Great vid! What do you think is the best nike/asics clay court shoe for tennis?
Video up soon on it
completely agree. I have a pair of eggplants with custom orthotics and theyre the single best fitting shoe I have ever owned. I stopped playing organized basketball when I was about 11 years old, but bought a pair when I started having some foot and ankle issues a few years ago. I have purchases a few extras between now and then as well. I think the only thing I would add is that they also have one of the most adjustable lacing systems. Truly, the closest comparison in terms of custom fit isnt even another shoe...it's probably my $1,000+ 3d scanned hockey skates, only less stiff.
I was wearing a lot of Jordan 1s and timberlands for work boots . I had grabbed a new pair of 2023 Dream A Worlds and PEs and have been wearing them consistently. Had this callous on the top pad underneath the toes and it went away completely. Foams are just super comfortable and are a really great shoe , still my favorite after all these years . Just so expensive but I love them
Good video,
Honestly you do have a good point. Mainly on how it help lebron with his game. The lebron 4s was lebron version of foamposite, might not see with 21s but you might see something with the 22s maybe.
Formposite and lightweight upper
Rubber outsole (kobe 5, 6, 20s traction)
Cushlon midsole
Full length zoom strobel
🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷
I really enjoyed this video and definitely agree. From his line of the 11-13, they seemed to use a combo of some Foamposite aand Hyperposite setups. I'm also thinking they could do something like they did with the Foamposite Lite (never owned those shoes, but remember them being worn a lot when they dropped.) I feel all the strain he puts on his movements would help with a beefier upper again. (And if Nike wants to make money, they can have a "Lite" version of it with a different upper perhaps.)
Can you try some kobe 9 and 10 highs? Please
Had the find of a lifetime today at my local Goodwill! Found a pair of Foamposites for $20 👍
Thats a deal steal
Iv been playing ball in foams for years now every now and then I’ll thrown on my kobes but my foams are my favorite they feel good on my feet are a bit heavier but after wearing them for years you don’t even notice and they’re extremely durable last forever
I have those blue Vapors and I love rocking them
Also I will say I love this idea of bringing it back but the heat it holds is awwwwful
As a person that has flat feet, I loved the foam era at least on the addias size, because that's all I could afford at the time. I still got my ultra boost in the closet 😂. And some basic addias running foam shoes. I got at famous footwear back in 2014. The foam on my feet feels great and it doesn't blister my feet unlike the Jordans i have sitting in my closet. As a former waiter/buss boy/ server them shoes became a must have for me.
Love the 4. Great idea. Did the 17 graffiti have Foamposite?
A knitted variant. It's Knitposite
Converse Bb Prototype CX review soon, Zach-sama. Pleaaaase man
Bro Bron is a huge fan of your take on sport science thru podiatry he is gonna rock a pair in the playoffs
Now that'd be crazy
After diagnostics of the shoes are completed, what do you do with leftover shoe scraps ?
Lebron 4 Retro coming soon. Excited to see if they come back in original form and weight. After watching this expecting him to wear those more than the 21 (and much more than he wore the 2s and NXXTs this past year)
Airmax 90 is another one of my favorite shoes. What do you think about that shoe.
Under what circumstances would you recommend someone to wear foamposite‘s?
I may try to play indoor in my old ones now
Please review the adidas alphaboost shoes that have 5 different cushion technologies.😊
I love almost anything Posite...foam, flight, hyperflight, zoom rookie...Almost. Most people think it's weird that I like foams as much as I do
I can’t wait for you to review the Lebron 21s! The 1st leaked photos of them made me think of this exact video 😂
I saw that haha
Lebron 11 was posite and lbj hated them, also it was rumored, the hyperposite 2 was supposed to be the lebron 12, which I think it’s a grossly underrated shoe, it’s design is very similar to the lebron 10, yet it uses minimal posite structure, not really designed to mold to foot though
The best shoe is the kobe 9 if you want to still be in a basketball shoe, with a flat insert, All these other shoes especially the foamposite have a stiff bottom and narrow toe box. The leBron 20s have been giving some crazy plantar pain and as soon as I started wearing xero shoes it went away. I’m not an expert but I’ve experimented with so many shoes and what I find is most of these knee and hip and ankle injuries are from the high and over supportive shoes.
Hey Zach. Do you think the same goes with the Jordan 11s ? Just because the patent leather wraps around the entire shoe very similar to the Foamposites ?? Please lmk your thoughts !!!
Meh- not the same idea
can you review the gh4
Can you make a compilation of sneakers that is wide feet friendly???
Foamposites with a carbon fiber spring plate imagine the jump gt as a foamposites mixed with the alpha fly because the spring plate can counteract the weight
Foamposites are worth the price, they’re as durable as air jordan 1’s but with 50 times the confort once broken in (3 casual wears, 12 jogs/practices in them) almost 30 and former hs teammates have bunions/broken bones playing in hyperdunks and drose models back then and I’ve been good cause I played in foams in hs and early adulthood. Played baseball and basketball but more basketball lately and I’ve worn kyries/pg’s and it’s been crunching up my feet. Went back to retro crazy 8’s and now blue foams and I don’t feel pain after my games. Soreness and pain are 2 different things believe me!
What shoe is thay
I’m coming off a big toe fracture. Do you think these shoes would be good for me to get my confidence back on the court? Would hate to get stepped on with my WoW10s on.
They may have to do a zoom stack way in going about it or use zoom and then a zoom strobel maybe a great way to go 🤔
Foamposite are zoom air plus double stack in the heel so what do you mean?
@@Mr-ow3mk most ppl never hopped in them so they don't know
@@Mr-ow3mk not just the heel but in the forefoot too and I was talking about if I did or was suggesting how I would like my own version using the foamposite tech. But thanks for the info about the layout of the Foamposite
Designer Eric Avar and his team with their idea for a liquid material to suck and mold around your foot to play like its natural, plus with a carbon shank, plus with full length zoom plus a heel zoom unit (practically a precursor to Zoom Strobel as a double zoom sandwiched with each other)? They were really ahead of their time!
The most sneaker I collected throughout the pandemic, since nobody wanted them I got so many pairs for cheap
Idk that I’ll get a response this many days after the video posted but as a super random question I’ve been trying to find the answer to, is there a sneaker that comes in triple/full black that can handle 7-8 mile work days? I already spend $160-200 on work shoes, I’d rather something that doesn’t feel like it looks goofy af on my foot like hokas and brooks
I still think the best of the lebron line was 8-10. While they did sit a bit high (especially the 10) those were probably the lebron sneakers that weren't super bulky but at the same time supportive enough.
The 11 is one of my faves but I think lebron's foot issues made it unusable for him (I guess drop-in midsoles just would not work with his foot shape). I similarly liked the 13 elite a lot, but everyone overlooked that for the Soldier 10 because of how that finals series went.
Being a heavier-set basketball player all my life, I always looked to lebrons because of how beefy they are, but nowadays the KDs are probably just better overall performers in the Nike basketball line
A good one to try is Zion 2. Great for bigger dudes.
Nobody wants those ugly injury Zions that frump up by that stupid strap
I agreed, those shoes were great. 12-13s aint that great. Try the Lebron 16s low, it's the best Lebron for me.
@@jimbokilo these are actually my outdoor shoes at the moment! had to replace the insoles to get just a bit more cushioning in the forefoot but otherwise they play really well and have held up longer than I expected for how cheap the synthetic materials feel.
I have a pair of flightposites. Not the most comfortable shoe, but far from worst. And I agree. I hate today's sneaker tech. All this move to lighter footwear, but it does not provide the much needed protection like 90's style of shoes. That's why I buy mostly retros. With a couple of Ultraboost exceptions.
Coach Prime look like he got that technology for his shoe for that Colorado spring game. His Diamond turfs look way different than his original
I remember the LeBron XI based on Foamposite and he wore them just a few times.
Cap🧢
12’s too.
Sort of, the XII's HyperPosite was used for containment and stability.
I bought two new light weight Nike shoes recently and I feel pain in my knee/side calf muscle when balling, I went back to Foamposites and no pain.
I agree 👍💯% with everything you're saying because basketball shoes nowaday suck . They are made with cheap foam with mesh/Flyknit that stretches out lol. Back in the day shoes had ankle support and hexalite cushioning , carbon fiber shanks ect. I don't know if Bron could wear those because their Penny's shoe . I think he should though because it would give a lot more support, and for someone with all his power, he wouldn't really feel the heaviness of the shoe that much . Also, my all time favorite shoes to hoop in were Jordan 12's , I felt invincible in those things .
I'd love to know if Nike makes customizations for LeBron on his current models he plays in.
ou should honestly make a shoe guide beacause of all the new shoes coming out
This week or next
We’re can I find this guy I have the same problem with my feet and they hurt so bad every time I explode of my toes 😂 for a dunk
what is the blue model you've got there?
I talk about it in the video
you should try out lining speed 9 premium
Still rocking foams
Foamposites have been some of the best shoes ive ever worn.
Do you remember the Tim ducan foam deposits?
The KD7 is an example of what they could do with foamposite.
I bet this video will reach him. Great video. Paid 193.85 for my original penny foams in 10th grade lol❤
I've bought this pair of shoes last week, I didn't know anything about it! I thought they're sneakers & not for use on courts... Do you think they are suitable for indoor court use? If yes, I can try to find another pair for my young man to use during his team matches... ? 🤷♂
Love the Slippery Rock flag in the background. That’s about a hour away from me.
Go 🪨
If you endure the break-in period, Foams are amazing shoes!
Please give Bron some Foamposite Pro’s!!! Please!!! I will be first in line to grab a pair. N he could revitalize such a legendary shoe. I’ve had at least 88% of every pair of foamposites that has ever released!!!
Those Tim Duncan foamposite would probably be a better model for him. They are very heavy but yet sturdy
What if they perforated the foamposit??
Love me some foamposite. The price is a major deterrent, though.
For me it’s worth it, I had them freshman year of hs and wore them almost everyday, rain, sleet or snow and the soles only started to fall off freshman year of college. Everything else was in tact I just had to glue the outsole back on and it was good.
I have the flightposites cause I cant afford the Foamposites lol. But the tech sure does look hella cool. They just happened to be hella hot
He had foamposite in the lebron 11 and he didn’t like it because I guess it wouldn’t break in fast enough for him since he’s always wearing new shoes it was also in the lebron 13 and he never wears either of those shoes anymore. He’s more likely to break out lebron 2 3 7 and 10s before the 11 and 13
it gets hot too quick too, breathability is what foamposit lacks
Where did you get the wedding ring from? Thanks
Not sure- just a silicone ring pack from Amazon - I can’t wear metals because of all the hand washing at my job
Foams the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever hooped in, chilled in, and nvrmnd
I LUV HOOPIN IN MY FOAMS💯🤷🏾♂️THEY JUS HEAVY ASF😮💨🤣🤣🤣
I loveeeeeeeee foams but they do expensive these days
I bought a pair of 1/2 cent Penny's 4 $250 online and that was N 2015.
I always thought that picture of lebron on the beach was photoshopped 😂
Ohhh I see
Bron posites coming soon?
Mike needs to make a bronposite
